Federal Court Strikes Down Ohio Law Removing Funding for Planned Parenthood

On April 18, the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati upheld a lower-court judge’s ruling striking down a law signed by Governor John Kasich in 2016 that banned Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers from receiving funds through six federal health programs.

The three-judge panel ruled that because some of the programs provided by Planned Parenthood (such as STD prevention) are unrelated to abortions, Ohio has unfairly punished Planned Parenthood compared to other grant recipients simply because the health provider advocates for abortion rights “on its own time and dime.”

The panel ruled unanimously that cutting off all funding from Planned Parenthood is a violation of the organization’s freedom of speech and creates an “unconstitutional condition.” Judge Helene White wrote that the government “may not require the surrender of constitutional rights as a condition of ...

Sometimes, boycotts work, and often they don't. Chris has a good point.

Romans 8:7 because the mind of the flesh is hostile towards God; for it is not subject to God's law, neither indeed can it be. 8 Those who are in the flesh can't please God.

Michael Craven wrote:
The Roman world was brutal and generally indifferent to suffering. Sympathy and mercy were weaknesses, virtues anathema to those of Rome. The ancient world was both decadent and cruel. The practice of infanticide, for example, was widespread and legal throughout the Greek and Roman world during the early days of Christianity. In fact, abortion, infanticide, and child sacrifice were extremely common throughout the ancient world....

... Suffice it to say, for much of the world and throughout most of its history the culture of death and brutality has been the rule, and a culture of life, love, and mercy has been the exception. It is to the cause of this exception that we now turn. . . .
These early Christ-followers did not organize special interest groups or political parties. They never directly opposed Caesar; they didn’t picket or protest or attempt to overthrow the ruling powers. They didn’t publicly denounce or condemn the pagan world. Instead, they challenged the ruling powers by simply being a faithful, alternative presence—obedient to God. Their most distinguishing characteristic was not their ideology or their politics but their love for others. They lived as those who were, once again, living under the rule and reign of God, a sign and foretaste of what it will be fully, when Christ returns.....

Also, that list was from 2015. Not 2018.

My point was not at all to under write something you said. Just thought it would be a good question to present...👍

Question for all...
Should we buy the products that these companies sell? Would we be supporting the wickedness that they support?

The way I've always looked at it is that we should do the best we can, but the reality of it is that we would end up having to self-manufacture everything we currently buy or rent, etc., from a toothbrush, to our clothing, to a house and car, aslo grow, raise, and butcher pretty much anything we eat, etc. The list goes on and on, but if we dig deep enough into any vendor, service, manufacturer, or seller of whatever, I'd bet we would be real hard pressed not to find at least one thing they support in some fashion, whether financially or otherwise, that we would disagree with.
Bottomline for me is that, ultimately, it's between them and God in the end, although we should do our best not to support those who support wicked things when those things do come to light.

As of 2015
United Way Worldwide does not dictate funding decisions to local United Ways. ... In many of these instances, funding for Planned Parenthood is the result of specific requests from individual donors. No United Way funds are currently used, or have ever been used to support abortion services.
However, because donations of individual company employees are not earmarked specifically to a cause, UW decides who gets funded. I attended their awards ceremony; maybe 10? yrs ago. The greater portion of donations was given to the Gay Rights movement.

Without any real conclusive evidence that Assad used chemical weapons upon his own citizens we invoke our "god given mandate" and bombard them with missiles. With Planned Parenthood, we do all we can to keep their doors open 24/7. This nation is in big trouble come judgement day.

Planned Parenthood doesn’t own America, it just owns alot of “Public Servants”. It’s Money Laundering on a gigantic scale- Senators A, B, and C make sure that PP gets X amount of taxpayer money for “Women’s Health”. Planned Parenthood then uses the money no longer needed for “Women’s Health” and uses it to fund both Abortion and Huge Donations to Senators A,B, and C’s re-election campaigns. For the Senators it’s a great way to fund your campaign on the public dime and for Planned Parenthood it insures that few real threats to their evil work make it through the system.

Now what I’d like to know is why this court is infringing my Freedom of Speech by not forcing State governments to cut me a check?!
