US Catholics More Concerned About Climate Change Than Persecuted Christians
Catholics in the United States, according to a survey released this month. While 9 in 10 believe that persecution of Christians around the world is somewhat or very severe (51% and 40%, respectively), only half said they were very concerned (49%). Almost 1 in 5 said they were not concerned at all (18%).
Instead, the study of 1,000 Catholic adults (conducted online in January by ACN’s US branch and McLaughlin & Associates) found that they worry about other issues more.
More than 9 in 10 American Catholics worry about human trafficking (72% very concerned, 21% somewhat concerned) or about poverty (68% very, 26% somewhat). More than 8 in 10 worry about the refugee crisis (51% very, 36% somewhat) or about climate change (55% very, 28% somewhat)....

Ex-Catholic Journal wrote: The slaughter of over 100,000 unarmed French Protestants (Huguenots) within three weeks in 1572. Two years earlier the Huguenots were granted freedom of worship within certain localities in France. The slaughter began in Paris, where leaders of the Huguenots were gathered in support of the king of France against a likely war with Spain. The king‚Äôs mother, Catherine de Medici, was related to the Papal Nuncio (ambassador) to France. She asked him to tell the Pope that ‚Äúhe would soon see the vengeance that she and the king would visit‚ÄĚ on the Huguenots. She convinced the king to kill the assembled Protestant leaders. The royal troops then began a slaughter which spread to the outlying towns of France. Upon hearing of the massacre, Pope Gregory XIII ordered a special jubilee in celebration. He commissioned that a medal be struck showing an exterminating angel smiting the Huguenots with his sword.
Secondly, if it is Catholics are being persecuted you can bet that the American Catholic Church will be led by it's bishops as they were in the Vietnam War. (See America’s Catholic Bishops---"...Father Daniel Berrigan was ousted from New York by his Jesuit superiors for his public opposition to the Vietnamese war."
