Homeschoolers rise up against criminal background checks
n the labyrinth of legislative maneuvering, when a committee chairman who represents the majority says a bill is going to be passed, it’s usually unwise to bet against that result.
But when a bill in the Hawaii legislature that would have required parents to undergo a ‚Äúchild abuse and neglect history inquiry‚ÄĚ as well as a ‚Äúbackground check‚ÄĚ to be allowed to teach their own children was put before the committee, hundreds of homeschoolers and their parents showed up to protest.
The bill had majority support and was expected to become law didn’t even get a vote.
But after the hearing, the sponsor asked that it be withdrawn, and ultimately the Hawaii committees on Education and Human Services ‚Äúdeferred‚ÄĚ on the plan....
This is good news indeed for parents seeking to raise their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord in Hawaii.
But because the current fervour caused by the horrific discovery in Southern California fits into the cradle-to-grave domination by liberal elite and government control types, this isn't the only battle that will likely have to be fought.
There was a 12 year old boy, newly immigrated from Canada, who was hunted down and tackled by Norwegian social services because his parents loved him enough to begin homeschooling him. The boy apparently had bee horribly bullied in his new school. The boy's mother had the wherewithal to video the takedown and post it on social media. Horrors can and do happen. What will we do when they begin to happen here?
Honestly, it feels to me like we are rushing headlong into the end and Jesus' return.
