This city is now very strongly Islamic, although there is also a strong Hindu and Sikh community as well.
The City Council also has many Islamic councillors, and one of the leading spokesmen for British Islam is the imam of a very large purpose built mosque in the city.
Meanwhile the official "Christian" churches are bending over backwards to accommodate this, with their interfaith approach.
I do, however, praise God, that there is some clear witness there, as the last church I attended, in the Islamic district, a large evangelical church, is uncompromisingly reaching out to the Muslims, and preaching the Gospel faithfully there.
I lived in a large city in the East Midlands of England for many years.
In the Islamic district of that city, near where I lived, and where the three churches I attended over the years were located, I saw drastic changes while I was there.
At first, burkas and niqabs were very rare, young women might have a simple headscarf, and a few a more thorough hijab. Men would just wear casual Western dress, and women a simple trouser suit or a long dress.
Over time however, the men all started wearing tunics, long beards, and little caps, and the scarves and hijabs grew more extreme. Most women in this district today wear long robes, and the burka and niqab is now increasingly in evidence. Women even wear this in the centre of the city.
Mosques were being built, madrasahs (religious schools for children and young adults) were also springing up, and now there are both private and state funded Islamic day schools, as well as residential seminaries and schools.
I remember following the Iraq war, they did an on the street interview of some Muslim women. They asked them if they were please they would no longer have to wear veils. (Not sure where they came to that conclusion). Anyway, the women said they would continue to wear them so that men wouldnât hit on them as much. It was interesting to say the least.
But, those who celebrate these things because it only affects Muslim women should understand that these restrictions will be applied to Christians in some manner. These secular societies see all religions as the same. So, public praying, carrying a bible, public preaching, etc. will likely be stopped if they havenât already been?
Hillary Clinton. Barbara Mikulski. Dianne Feinstein. Nancy Pelosi. Samantha Power. Janet Reno. Donna Shalala**. Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Barbara Boxer. What do all of these women have in common? They are Democrats. And they are đ ugly. Mere statistics alone would suggest if you got a dozen or so Democrat women politicians together there would be some glimmer of attractiveness, no matter how dim, somewhere. But you would be wrong. However, now, thanks to SCIENCE, we know why:... -- Solution?
Dems love that moosleWoman culture -- Research has found that being attractive influences many things in a personâs life â their salary, their popularity and grades in school, even the prison sentences they receive. So why not their politics?
A recently published study in the Journal of Public Economics concludes that the attractiveness of a candidate does correlate with their politics. They find that politicians on the right are more good looking in Europe, the United States and Australia. -- Let 'em be veiled..
