Comedy Is Not Pretty, and Nowadays It Isn’t Even Funny

I found myself seated at my computer last month, watching on YouTube the comedian Bill Maher talk about Donald Trump’s marriage. If you don’t share Mr. Maher’s politics, you are likely to find him an odious, even loathsome character, for he doesn’t really exist outside politics. His standard tone is mockery, his modus operandi to lacerate his targets with obscenities, flash a nervous smile, and then bask in applause from his audience.

That the late-night talk-show hosts are ready to give up a large share of the audience to indulge their politics is something new in American comedy. Whatever Jack Benny, the Marx Brothers, Milton Berle, Joan Rivers or Johnny Carson might have thought about what was happening in Washington, they wisely kept it to themselves. When Charlie Chaplin was revealed as a Communist fellow-traveler in the late 1930s it hurt his reputation, though he never allowed his politics ...

"comedy" is not humor in an Antichrist atheist culture as is Babylon today. It is simply mocking sarcasm (elitism ego pumping). I have only ever seen one comedy show that I found funny, which is "I say nay nay". Everything else is angry atheist "comics" merely trying to impress an Antichrist atheist audience that they are somehow smart because they can mock conservatives or Christian morality in some way they think is unique. It is almost impossible to find enjoyable humor in the western culture of Babylon usa. The only other alternative are the comics who don't act funny but rather act literally insane and psychotic. Those are the only choices in babylon, mocking atheist sarcasm or insane psychotic demented rambling.

Bill Maher is not funny, he doesn’t do stand up,he works sitting down . He just appears to be a tortured soul, who is an atheist, so, no, nothing funny here.

I still wonder if the author was really trying to put in the name Donald Trump for Bill Maher though, since that's who he was describing as much as anybody else.

As far as television goes, the author's complaints are quite late. TV has been bad for decades and lacking clean comedy❗ Unfortunately you can find YouTubes that will fawn over DT as well.

Which marriage was Mr. Maher supposed to be talking about? Donald Trump has had three of them and I wouldn't think that he might have some more. It's time for trading in on a newer model.

Same thing applies to comics in the newspaper. The Peanuts comic strip retains its humor even though it's all a repeat since the author died some time ago.
Pickles is funny in picking out the foibles of seasoned citizens.

Nicolas Carr wrote:
...The president’s Twitter fixation gives the lie to the notion that social networks are preserves of the tech-adept young. Although Trump, according to press reports, rarely uses computers, sends emails, or goes online, he’s found a match in Twitter. It’s a technology perfectly suited to his need for attention and, more ominously, his recklessness. By blurring private and public discourse, Twitter allows Trump to turn locker-room talk, his favored idiom, into presidential speech. And it enables him to manhandle the public’s attention, constantly yanking the media spotlight back on himself whenever it starts to wander....

... Thanks to Twitter, the national conversation is now yoked to the vagaries of Trump’s mind. Politics has been subsumed by psychology. Twitter’s formal qualities as an informational medium—its immediacy and ephemerality, its vast reach, its lack of filters—mirror and reinforce the impulsiveness, solipsism, and grandiosity that define Trump’s personality and presidency and, by extension, the times....

Blasphemy jokes by BHO " his God-like image, he hailed the "10-day anniversary" of his first 100 days in office. "During the second 100 days, we will design, build and open a library dedicated to my first 100 days," he said. "My next 100 days will be so successful, I will complete them in 72 days. And on the 73rd day, I will rest."
Yeah, evil Pres example.
