The eclectic Burning Man Festival, held annually in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert, has chosen for its new centerpiece structure a massive wood temple dedicated to the pagan goddess Gaia, another indication of America’s sprint from the God of Israel and Christianity.
This year, organizers will build a massive wooden structure composed of 20 trusses converging as a spiral. In the center will be a large mandala, a symbol used by Buddhists as an aid in meditation. Yet, it’s not a paean to Buddhism but an ancient Greek god.
It will be called Galaxia, a name taken from a science-fiction novel by Isaac Asimov. In New Age mythology, Galaxia is the mother goddess of Gaia, but on a higher, galactic, level. In mythology, Gaia is the personification of the Earth and the source of immortality. The worship of Gaia figures prominently in neo-paganism....
Seeing that this news item comes from WND--World Nut Daily--I am not surprised at what their extensive research has come up with. In a way, this is good, and maybe they are doing us all a service by covering the item before any mainstream media channel can pick up on it. I am loathe to give WND a hard time, since even the National Enquirer had their 'day in the sun' when they broke the John Edwards, former Democrat candidate for President, story on his love child. Then we started to find out similar children fathered by such people as Jesse Jackson. And "Christopher" has his hands full with a wife of that sort, and her friends. But you have identified a common idea--if you attend a church with a specific location, specific services, you must be a good person. A friend told me of his coworker who complained of the 'loose living' of the neighbor, who attended one of those churches.
One of my wife's good friends, (very unfortunately), is a former pro kickboxer. She's also a lesbian, now suddenly, bi, and a pagan. Within her group are other lesbians, a psychic, a witch, and other pagans. My wife is Roman Catholic and calls herself a Christian, yet finds no problem in hanging out with these sorts. Again, it seems that just as long people identify with a church which is under the umbrella of Christianity, believe in the God of the Bible, and consider themselves to be good people, according to this world's standards, then they're good to go. Tragic.
I was watching a reality show the other night, and one of the girls is a born again Christian from Kentucky. Small town, farm raised, polite country girl. Her friend threw a party in her honor at one of their apartments one night to take her mind off of her boyfriend cheating on her. The girls at one point sat around a table with two candles that she wrote his name on, and a lemon. Long story short, they were placing a curse on the boyfriend. This "born again" Kentucky girl goes on to say, "Being a Christian, I wouldn't normally get involved in black magic, but I'm sure Jesus would be fine with it in this case".
Frightening. I'm sure her family flipped when they saw the episode, but it speaks to a huge problem going on today where so many call themselves Christians simply because they believe in the God of the Bible, and identify with a church. So many will say in that day, "But Lord...I did this, and I was that..."
"I never knew you, depart from me, ye worker of iniquity".
Burning man has always been a pagan cabal. More the question, do people want to hear about Jesus? Yes, then preach the word in season and out. That includes everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord as their savior.
2 Timothy 4:1-5 I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. ---ESV

2John 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. 10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: 11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds."
An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.Pr16:27 --point out evil dug up by many--some in Egypt
Jer 20:9 Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay."
A good burning man burns with fire of prophecy:Jn5: "32There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true. 33Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth. 34But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved. 35He was a 🔥burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light."
Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy Name give the glory for thy loving mercy, and for thy truth’s sake. Wherefore shall the heathen say, Where is now their God? But our God is in heaven: he doeth whatsoever he will. Their idols are silver and gold, even the work of men’s hands. They have a mouth, and speak not: they have eyes, and see not. They have ears, and hear not: they have noses and smell not. They have hands, and touch not: they have feet, and walk not: neither make they a sound with their throat. They that make them are like unto them: so are all that trust in them. O Israel, trust thou in the Lord: for he is their help, and their shield. - Psalm 115:1-9
