Martin Luther King Jr.’s Niece: ‘My Uncle Would Have Been Very Pro-Life’

As the niece of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and I emphasize the ‘reverend’ because history has not always recorded his spiritual aspects … I have been mostly impacted by his messages of unity, of racial reconciliation, of course nonviolence, and the strongest has always been and will always be for me the agape love message,” Alveda King told The Daily Signal in an interview Friday. “One of the things that we would say [is], ‘We must learn to live together as brothers,’ and I’ll add, as sisters, ‘or perish together as fools.’”

Alveda King, director of Civil Rights for the Unborn for Priests for Life, said her uncle’s words show his commitment to respect for life.

“He said the Negro cannot win if he is willing to sacrifice the futures of his children for immediate personal comfort and safety,” King said. “Abortion, of course, forces us to do exactly that.” ...

Who cares if he would be against abortion, his soul matters more than if he "could have been against something".

Don't get me wrong, I am against that abominable practice as much as the next guy is.

My point is why right up a giant article about if he could have been against abortion, when the government will NEVER stop supporting it!!

"provocative piece in the Public Discourse, Regent University professor Miles Smith IV wrote that the arguments for abortion on demand, couched in the language of individual autonomy, run parallel to the arguments of the more radical Southern slavery advocates."

https://www.cnsnews.com/commentary/jarrett-stepman/do-we-really-believe-all-men-are-created-equal

"Defenders of slavery saw government intrusion on their “property” as a violation of their sacred rights. As a result, they sought to make sure that slavery remained accepted and protected to a maximum extent under all conditions.

“In the same way,” wrote Smith, “modern abortion advocates have viewed any obstacle to abortion-on-demand—including waiting periods and parental consent for minors—as an entirely unwarranted invasion of women’s totalitarian authority over their unborn children.”

The terms of the abortion debate have shifted in the last 20 years from “safe, legal, and rare,” to no restrictions under any circumstances.

This shift is evident in the left’s opposition to any reasonable limits on abortion practices. For instance, the pain-capable abortion bill, which would prevent abortions after 20 weeks."

Sorry Dr. Tim, liberals don't do anything of the hard things they claim to believe in - they simply tell (or force) other people to enact their ideas. It's what people with common sense sum up as "do as I say but not as I do". Or just good ol hypocrisy.

Alveda has stood up against the cultural marxists and is to be commended. As to our pastors who are bowing to it... their first aim is at the white male (because the final goal is to erradicate Christianity and Christians and the Christian family). and they are white males. see how they virtue signal in their ministries now, instead of standing firm with the brethren? but Alveda knows the game, and she doesn't play it.

Tell us how many black children you are looking to adopt, Jim, and we'll see what we can do to get the ball rolling. I for one am thrilled that you are finally moving away from mere talk of social injustice and planning to actually do something about it. Do you have any age preferences, or is ageism a no-no with you also?

Jim; With all due respect towards you, your White Evangelical comment, has huge gaping holes in it. That reflects in your buying into the Fairytale of Evil-evolution. That reflects in why you continuously suppress the truth on here, that reflects in that you aren’t Born Again. In which I hope that you do get saved from God, to God amen.

Their is only One Human Race, as ones pigment of skin color may be around 0.2 %. But that doesn’t change up the Biological make up in their, is only one True living God Alone, who gives breath & life to one, as we are created out of His image, praise His name who aren’t ashamed of proclaiming the whole counsel of Gods Word, to others, that Christ is justified in being angry with the Wicked, but He also came for the unrighteousness too amen!

Acts 17:25-26 Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, & all things. & He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, & has determined their preappointed times & the boundaries of their dwellings,

Jim; My hope isn’t the Grahams, or any pastor, as any Pastor, who truly is Shepard of folk, Will tell his congregation to look to Christ Alone. For their is absolutely no other mediator Alone, for the fallen, who can bring saving reconciliation, back into ones own life. As no politician or political party can do that for one, Jim. & diffidently n’t Rome’s, Gospel of Dead Works, that results in bad news, for one. Especially if one truly believes & buys into Rome ways, that pins one against Christ & His Word.

Jim; being born again from up above alone, isn’t a OPTION, for one! ; 1 Jhn 5:12 He who has the Son has life; he who doesn’t have the Son of God doesn’t have life.

Needhim, even many whites know the abortion issue is used to bond the Evangelical-Catholic axis
Min. J. Kojo Livingston wrote:
It’s bad that white men continue to use the name and image of God to promote their racist agenda. It’s worse that after all these years religious people, including many Blacks still keep buying it.

If you listen to the Grahams and others crying “Vote the Bible,” the only things happening in this country that might offend God are homosexuality and abortion. All of the government sanctioned activities, policies and institutions that produce sickness, poverty and death do not matter to their deity.

This has been the strategy of the far-right since the late 1960s when they lost the moral high ground. Openly promoting white supremacy was no longer fashionable or justifiable, so they found two moral issues they felt would keep them “on God’s side.” ... These were the two primary moral issues they hyped, while blasting government spending on anything that would benefit poor people or other races. Not long after this, they began using code-words to mask their racist ideas and policies.

Megan McArdle wrote:
... First of all, even I know that the pro-life movement spends rather a lot of energy on things like crisis pregnancy centers which aim to get women to carry their pregnancies to term, and assist them in doing so. (Not well liked by the pro-choice movement, which considers their ads deceptive, because it's not clear that they will not counsel or refer for abortion.)

.... I find it far-fetched that women are having abortions because no one is willing to help them give the baby up for adoption--there are lots of people and agencies that will not only help them, but pay a substantial portion of their expenses until they deliver. They're having abortions because pregnancy is physically uncomfortable, and there's still a social stigma on women who carry a baby to term in order to give it away.

I do wonder how easy it is for black children to be adopted? Anyone has to statistics on that?

Well said QC. Something I forgot to state in my last post is the fact that King was used of God, just as God has used every celebrity and leader for his purposes, no matter how evil or righteous the individual is.
As for General Lee, I would encourage Christians seeking a biblical worldview to research his efforts following the war. He was truly interested in reconciliation and peace in a godly manner.

We agree with the concerns over Dr. King Jr posted below. While there is a substantial effort underway to discredit the FBI's investigation and records, it is unfortunate that the country has chosen to celebrate this man over others of more Godly character. However, the Lord's purposes are never overthrown and He uses each of us, horribly tainted to the core by sin, to carry His perfect message of life and hope in Christ to a dying world. Was Dr. King Jr a sinner? Sure. Am I? Can't deny it without lying. The Lord used an imperfect man to help bring awareness of injustice.

The denigration of a fine man like R. E. Lee is just the opposite side of the same coin. Terrible to wind up on the wrong side of history. Glad the Lord has different books.

"Martin Luther King, Jr. was a theologian and pastor in that tradition. He went to all the right schools, studied with all the right people, and wrote about all the right issues to mark him as intentionally liberal. Dorrien does an excellent job in about twenty pages of his third volume situating King in the liberal tradition. By the time he went to college, he had already given up so much of his religious upbringing that he could be startled by a Bible class that helped him see that “behind the legends and myths of the Book were man profound truths which one could not escape.” In seminary he studied a book on the philosophy of religion whose author emphasized religious experience, and King reflected, “How I long now for that religious experience which Dr. Brightman so cogently speaks of throughout his book. … As I reflect on the matter, however, I do remember moments that I have been awe awakened; there have been times that I have been carried out of myself by something greater than myself and to that something I gave myself. Has this great something been God? Maybe after all I have been religious for a number of years, and am now only becoming aware of it.” This, from a pastor enrolling in a PhD program, is disconcerting to evangelical sensibilities."
