Czech Republic follows Trump, recognizes Jerusalem

The Czech Republic on Wednesday evening followed in the footsteps of U.S. President Donald Trump and said it recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel.

“The Czech Republic currently, before the peace between Israel and Palestine is signed, recognizes Jerusalem to be in fact the capital of Israel in the borders of the demarcation line from 1967,” said a statement issued by the Czech foreign ministry.

The statement also stressed that the Czech Republic “considers Jerusalem to be future capital of both states, meaning the State of Israel and the future State of Palestine.” ...

I always thought Jerusalem was the capital of Israel.

"According to the Bible, King David conquered the city from the Jebusites and established it as the capital of the united kingdom of Israel, and his son, King Solomon, commissioned the building of the First Temple. These foundational events, straddling the dawn of the 1st millennium BCE, assumed central symbolic importance for the Jewish people." (Wiki)

1Chron 11:4 And David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus; where the Jebusites were, the inhabitants of the land.
5 And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not come hither. Nevertheless David took the castle of Zion, which is the city of David.
6 And David said, Whosoever smiteth the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain. So Joab the son of Zeruiah went first up, and was chief.
7 And David dwelt in the castle; therefore they called it the city of David.
8 And he built the city round about, even from Millo round about: and Joab repaired the rest of the city."

Hurrah for Trump finally allowing what President Clinton in 1995 signed into law, the move of the US embassy to Jerusalem by 1999. It reminds me of the "TPS" status of many immigrants, like the Central Americans who have been living in this country since Hurricane Mitch. Anyone remember what year that was?
As to the size of the Czech Republic, it doesn't matter much, since a country's embassy is still an embassy, and represents that country. Would someone propose different levels of membership in the United Nations--depending on their physical size or population. If that went into effect, everyone at the United Nations would speak Chinese!
El Salvador is also a very tiny country, but ask the residents in suburban Washington DC the impact that their illegal immigrants have had, like the case of one of them being murdered in Wheaton Regional Park and buried there. Check it out on the Washington Post website. Then post a comment, El Salavador is a tiny country, why worry about it?

Zech 12:1The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.
2Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem.
3And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
4In that day, saith the LORD, I will smite every horse with astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with blindness.
5And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, The inhabitants of Jerusalem shall be my strength in the LORD of hosts their God.

From what I have seen, the Czechs were also interested in pleasing the Pope, but according to one source the Czech Republic does have a good relationship with Israel -- perhaps better than any other European country
Lobos Motl wrote:
To mention another special thing, the Czech Parliament recently urged the government to stop the funding of UNESCO, as a protest against the pro-Palestinian anti-Israel politicization of the U.N. cultural arm. In the same statement, the Parliament recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Czech Parliament recognizes Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, condemns UNESCO. [ http://tinyurl.com/y9gofzd8 ]

These are examples of events that show that a very high number of influential people in Czechia have attitudes to the issues surrounding Israel that basically match those of the current Israeli government.
