Free Speech Win for Pro-life Students in California
A pro-life student group at Fresno State University won its fight this month against a professor who told a student she had no free speech rights on a college campus.
Students for Life sued professor William Gregory Thatcher after he scrubbed out a pro-life message chalked on the sidewalk and told student leader Bernadette Tasy, “College campuses are not free speech areas.”
Tasy, who heads Fresno State Students for Life, got permission from school administrators in May to chalk pro-life messages near the school library. Shortly after she finished her work, a group of students began rubbing out the messages, telling her Thatcher encouraged them to do it....
Jim, this has been proven to be misleading information before in these threads. Just the fact it is from the U.N. is reason enough to distrust it. You quoted it again, so apparently the facts don't matter to you.
However, just to prove my point. In the link below on page 4 is a chart listing the reason that women SAID they chose abortions. Because there was a lack of universal healthcare (or even prenatal care)did not make the list.
Besides you look at per capita in Ireland where abortion is illegal or go back to prior to Roe v Wade here in the U.S., the abortion rate was significantly lower, so a much better solution is simply to outlaw it along with the other forms of murder already against the law.
Jim; Moms & dads need to choose personal responsibility for their own actions, their clothes didn't fall off on their own. Men need to step up & be men, & n't little boys. Any man bringing his baby to the butcher shop, is a coward & is in dier need of experiencing, the saving mercies of the Lord alone, that salvation only comes by, Christ alone amen!
Former Surgeon General, C. Everett Koop said, “In thirty-five years of medicine I have never seen one case where abortion was necessary to save a mother's life.”
Pro 9:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, & the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
John MacArthur; I cannot even conceive how a mother could think of a baby as an enemy. Whether that baby was a product of rape, or whether that baby was in some way malformed, how that woman could think that child in her was an enemy when she has been given the God-given privilege of protecting that little life with all of its weaknesses. Certainly that’s not natural instinct to a mother. She would have to be sold that by a culture that had become decadent.

Gene Veith wrote: Catholic journalist T. J. Reid makes a challenging connection for us pro-lifers:
Increasing health-care coverage is one of the most powerful tools for reducing the number of abortions — a fact proved by years of experience in other industrialized nations. All the other advanced, free-market democracies provide health-care coverage for everybody. And all of them have lower rates of abortion than does the United States
...the lesson from every other rich democracy.
The latest United Nations comparative statistics, available at http://data.un.org, [not as recent data as I would like  http://tinyurl.com/ycxcq4b6 ] demonstrate the point clearly. The U.N. data measure the number of abortions for women ages 15 to 44. They show that Canada, for example, has 15.2 abortions per 1,000 women; Denmark, 14.3; Germany, 7.8; Japan, 12.3; Britain, 17.0; and the United States, 20.8. When it comes to abortion rates in the developed world, we’re No. 1.

We shouldn’t make promises that we aren’t going to be able to keep. “It’s not going to be easy to do,” Jacob Hacker says, “and anyone who tells you that the most expensive health-care system in the world [The American one ] is going to undergo a sudden shift to highly efficient and low-price medicine has not been studying American medicine.”Â
Absolutely no abortion is true universal health care. Liberals know that if our schools return to the ideals of free speech and open debate the consequence would be that all of their leftist reasonings would be rightly scoffed at and trampled under foot. The result would be less millennials indoctrinated to socialism.
That is why I give props to Jim for his courage to continue sharing his thoughts here at this free speech forum. Ironically, I think if a Thatcher-like person monitored our threads here at SA then we would not see most of Jim's hilarious comments and links. And "bystanders and observers" would have a clear choice of what is and what is not sound reasoning.
Jim, supporting universal healthcare does not make someone pro-life, it makes them a socialist. You must be anti-abortion to be pro-life. Promoting adoption is fine but encouraging the parents themselves to take care of their own children is actually what should be taking place, even when the parents lack a support system, those children need their parents. Back to universal healthcare, it is wrong to take money by force, which is the only way taxation works and socialist programs are not charity. God never instituted a socialist government for Israel. He also warned Israel against a king other than God himself. Every socialist and communist government that has existed is more of a tyrannical kingdom than what we in America enjoy. Don't push ungodly tyrannical ideas. Why don't you promote charity?
Another amazing example of verbal Jim-nastics! Here we see the logic-defying daredevil leap from freedom of speech to universal health care without so much as holding his breath! And of course there is SO much scripture that calls for free pills, poultices and palliatives for all. For example, "Nevertheless, when the Son of man cometh, shall he find universal health care on the earth?" And "Go ye into all the world, and preach universal health care to every creature."
When Thatcher appeared at the scene, he began to lecture Tasy on her free speech rights, telling her she could only talk about her pro-life beliefs in the school’s free speech zone. Turns out, Fresno State eliminated the unconstitutional zone two years ago, and Tasy has the right to say what she wants at school. Thatcher settled last week, agreeing to pay Tasy and another student $1,000 each and take First Amendment training provided by Christian legal group Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF). He also agreed to pay $15,000 in attorney’s fees.
“Today’s college students will be tomorrow’s legislators, judges, educators, and voters,” ADF attorney Casey Mattox said. “That’s why it’s so important that university professors model the First Amendment values they are supposed to be teaching to students, and why it should disturb everyone that this Fresno State professor, like so many other university officials across the country, is communicating to a generation that the Constitution doesn’t matter.
A school I used to preach at Open Air- back then, a lot of students were open to talking back & forth, taking tracts & civil debate. - Davis campus was another good place to go- lots of "truth seekers" & searchers. Jn 17:17b"Thy word is truth" Ps 139- God is pro-life
