Why millennials are ditching religion for witchcraft and astrology

When Coco Layne, a Brooklyn-based producer, meets someone new these days, the first question that comes up in conversation isn’t “Where do you live?” or “What do you do?” but “What’s your sign?”

“So many millennials read their horoscopes every day and believe them,” Layne, who is involved in a number of nonreligious spiritual practices, said. “It is a good reference point to identify and place people in the world.”

Interest in spirituality has been booming in recent years while interest in religion plummets, especially among millennials. The majority of Americans now believe it is not necessary to believe in God to have good morals, a study from Pew Research Center released Wednesday found. The percentage of people between the ages of 18 and 29 who “never doubt existence of God” fell from 81% in 2007 to 67% in 2012. ...

Very interesting article in the Christian Science monitor about the organization, Freedom from Religion Foundation.

Harry Bruinius wrote:
When Dan Barker was a Pentecostal minister in California, he knew he could exclude his clergy housing allowance from his income tax returns, taking advantage of an IRS benefit that the federal government grants to “ministers of the Gospel” – though not to anyone else.

Back then, he didn’t give much thought to this special social benefit, which today gives American ministers a tax break worth some $800 million a year. Today, his efforts stand behind the ruling of a federal judge in Wisconsin who declared this benefit a violation of the separation of church and state.

In the 1970s, Mr. Barker was never that concerned about the nitty gritty of social policy. And he felt many of his fellow religious conservatives, who were getting involved in the emerging “religious right,” were too caught up with worldly concerns....

Political involvement by Churches is killing religion.

This know also that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy. Without natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good. Traitors, heady, high minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God. Having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof, from such turn away. (2 Timothy 3:1-5) AV.

Yoga, Fertility Rocks, and Essential Oils - Disposing of New Age Ideologies

The younger generation is more and more taken by New
Age ideas, or at least the cultural derivations and
emanations of those ideas. Kevin Swanson presents
the dangerous ideologies that are capturing a market
share, even among homeschoolers and Christians. What
might Christians use of all of this? How does one
separate ideas from the sacramental, cultural, or
medicinal expressions of those ideas? We make some
careful distinctions and apply Biblical principles to
issues we all face in an increasingly pagan world.
We are called to discern the spirits, and that
includes culture, medicine, fertility rocks, and
essential oils.

Below is a perfect example of what I mentioned earlier on. I'm a part of an essential oil wellness group while learning the benefits and use. I had asked a simple question yesterday, but a popular one, I guess, considering the activity it's still seeing. Maybe I'm the only guy.. ha-ha. Anyway, everyone responded like a normal human, for the most part, but here's the latest example of the many if they were pressed to come out of their shells or I made them feel comfortable by initiating the same nonsense. Not all, but many:

"Less is more. But it will be also about the vibration that’s needed for a job. You can have a basic cleaning solution. But then you might intuitively think ..oh I think I will add this oil today. Don’t doubt yourself. Someone in your crew will need that particular oil for a particular vibration."

What ridiculous nonsense. I plan on telling them today that I'm a born again Chriatian and to please not hit me up with this universe is calling me stuff, in a much friendlier way though, not wanting to turn them off. I mean, seriously...all this stuff is, is witchcraft under the guise of light and goodness. Satan is a tricky one.

But the most heretical thing even Bigger

Beware, Beware, a very wary bear!
A heretic or rebel, is very confuzled
A heretic or rebel embrace lies, lies lies
They come in ones and twoozles but if they so choozles
Before your eyes you'll see them multiply, ply, ply, ply

They're extraordinary, so better be wary
Because they come in every shape and size, size, size, size

If truth is what you covet you'll find that they hate it
And they'll muzzle out the thing you prize

There's Modernist and Atheist
There's even Palagianist!
Heresy is what they swallow
And in it, they'll wallow
Because they're enemies of the Most High

They're crafty, they're subtle
They're gone, they're here
They're quick and slick
They're insincere

If you've ever noticed
their arguments are bogus

The heretics and rebels,
Like Jim and John Y
Always seem to Lie, lie, lie,

Beware, Beware, a very wary bear!

Interesting that the story comes from a secular source, CBS Marketwatch. I would have guessed they are looking for the economics of the issue.
As famously said, 'when you don't believe in God, you will believe in anything.'

A related question is..if the millenials are not going to church, who is? We can look around and see a lot of white-haired folk, and when they depart, who will replace them.

I can drive around my city and find many churches that are empty, derelict buildings.
A large church near me bought a large piece of land and fought in court to develop it, but later decided to not develop it on their own; a charter school was brought in to build and share the building's use.

Thanks Frank, and as far as absorbing, isn't it also interesting how it is that they never speak out against these. Whether it be the Haitians you mentioned, or anyone else mixing things that are clearly wrong. Never a peep when it falls under their umbrella.

Most unfortunately, I'm seeing this more and more up my way, especially since yoga became so popular. There's Roman Catholicism, and there's the new agers/Buddhism followers, and sometimes a mixture of both. The younger-ish Roman Catholics see nothing wrong with going to see a psychic, or buying tickets to see a medium to find out what their mom or dad are up to and that they're well. Then, there are the pagans I know, and a nephew who is into a mixture of all of the above.
I'm not quite sure how people can allow themselves to become so infected with such darkness, while many still, at the same time, claim a religious affiliation and speak of God, Mass, and praying, etc. Such confusion, and so sad. I've also come to realize that many who hold classes on using essential oils, which is becoming a big thing through Doterra and others, are fully metaphysical types, and often, lesbians.
Proverbs 4:14-15 Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evildoers. Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way.
Good thoughts Chris! The RCC absorbs their deviants. E.G. in Haiti I think something like 90% call themselves catholics and yet they practice witchcraft. They stand for nothing.

Yes, IE. My wife, along with many other women I know, are faithful yoga practitioners. In fact, a couple of my clients opened a yoga studio just this year, and are fully immersed now in Buddism and the metaphysical, you know, like...the universe is calling out to me...if you feel led (by Gaia/universal consciousness)
The yoga poses alone are mock offerings, of sorts, to the various gods, like the Egyptian Ra, and so forth.
I've tried several times speaking to Michelle about Christianity and yoga, but it falls on deaf ears. What's more troubling is that there are churches now that picked up on the craze and offer yoga classes themselves.

And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up. (Daniel 8:23)
And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people. (Daniel 8:24)
And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand. (Daniel 8:25)
These verses deal in part with occultic practices during the reign of the Antichrist. Could that reign be at the door?

Why a burning ball of gas should influence you is a good question

Mk13:"22For false Christs and false prophets shall rise,
and shall shew signs and wonders,
to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.
23But take ye heed: behold,
I have foretold you all things.
24But in those days, after that tribulation,
the sun shall be darkened,
and the moon shall not give her light,

25And the stars of heaven shall fall,

and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. 26And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
27And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven. "

Dangers of occultic influences in the Church
