Willow Creek Appoints Female to Succeed Bill Hybels

Since “no one person can replace” Willow Creek Community Church founder Bill Hybels, the influential megachurch has named two people: its current executive pastor Heather Larson and teaching pastor Steve Carter.

Hybels announced on Saturday that the pair will succeed him as lead pastors when he steps down in October 2018.

The historic transition will make Willow Creek one of the largest churches in America with a woman in the lead pastor position, as well as the only major evangelical megachurch with male-female lead pastors who aren’t married.

“When we saw this shaping up, we had to ask ourselves, ‘Can our congregation have a lead pastor that’s a woman?,’” said Hybels, speaking from Willow Creek’s central campus in South Barrington, Illinois, one of seven locations in the Chicago region that draw a collective total of 25,000 worshippers each weekend. “And because this is a deeply held value ...

Forty-two years after founding one of the nation’s most influential evangelical megachurches, the Rev. Bill Hybels told his congregation Tuesday night that he would step down from the helm of Willow Creek Community Church six months ahead of schedule.

His departure comes less than a month after a Chicago Tribune investigation disclosed that Hybels had been the subject of inquiries by church leaders into claims that he ran afoul of church teachings by engaging in inappropriate behavior with women in his congregation — including employees — allegedly spanning decades.....

There is always the hook of fornication in the Charismatic Movement. I would hope that that doesn’t happen but, so many long term preachers, after 40 years go wobbly, and influenced by whims, wives and spongey thinking

...boss, I helped her move out one night that week while he was working, she moved into the same house as me, but a separate bedroom, and we were married shortly after. That lasted about 5yrs.
The reason I'm relating it is because it speaks to a much larger picture of why it's so hard to break away from the emotional and "supernatural happenings" within the movement and go back to "boring" and normal. No easy thing to come out of it, for sure.

Women preachers are all over Vegas and California as a part of the Charismatic movement, and considered perfectly fine and normal, preachers, and ministry leaders.
The faith healers and prosperity preachers rely upon the Charismatics wanting to be obediant and faithful. Say to almost any Charismatic, "God told me you are to do this, or give that", and they will do just that rather than risk defying God.
I don't know if I ever related this, but I met one of my ex's in Vegas, Karie. She was all-in, and full on Charismatic around the same time I became one and afterwards, she went on to head two fairly large ministrys.
As an example of what I said earlier, keep in mind that I barely knew her, and had only seen her a handful of times. I thought she was beautiful and wouldn't have minded getting to know her. Well, one night she was over at the churche's house I was living at, and she asked if she could speak to me. We walked outside, sat on the front steps, and there was an awkward silence for a moment...she seemed nervous for some reason. Then it happened, she simply said, "God told me that were suppose to get married". I was shocked to say the least, but long story short, I didn't want to disobey God, so we got married. She worked at a casino at the time, lived with a pit

Willow Creek, along with Rick Warren's Saddleback, and Joel Osteen's Lakewood, amongst many others, are the leaders for the "Seeker Sensitive" Movement, and have proved to be a thorn in the side of the real church for decades.

Willow Creek appointing a woman pastor is no surprise at all, as the Bible was long left behind by this church.

Actually, they have already a kind of "female pastor" as Lynn Hybels, Bill Hybels' wife, regularly tours in her own right, and her speciality is an extreme form of Replacement Theology, known as "Christian " Palestinianism, where she advocates that Israel is not for the Jews, they have no right for the land, and that,at the least it should hand over Judea and Samaria, with East Jerusalem including the Temple Mount and the Old its, together with Bethlehem, the city of David and Hebron, the city of Caleb and the Tombs of the Jewish Patriarchs over to what would be an Islamic sharia state of Palestine!!

This is typical of these churches, and sadly is a result of going with the world, and not the Word of God.

John Piper is NOT someone the true elect of God would quote under ANY circumstances. see http://surphside.blogspot.com/2017/10/desiring-god-continues-error-of-john.html
and see http://www.christiannewswire.com/news/9663680100.html
From that link-"Cathy Mickels, co-author of "Spiritual Junk Food: The Dumbing Down of Christian Youth." Mickels says, "The message John Piper delivered at Lou Giglio's 2017 Atlanta Passion Conference in an atmosphere of a worldly rock concert is an example of Piper's Christian Hedonism and the dumbing down of college-age students in the extreme."

Mickels states, "His talk gave God's Word a new spin by dogmatically declaring 'the fall of Adam and Eve was not that they disobeyed a commandment' of God." Furthermore, she says, "Piper suggested if they were taught to believe Adam and Eve did disobey, they were taught wrong. Hence, he gave thousands of young adults a taste of falsehood rooted in his Christian hedonistic philosophy."

This is informative as well - http://www.therealjohnpiper.com/
and this -http://pulpitandpen.org/2017/09/12/new-book-explains-problems-with-john-pipers-theology/

I am convinced that you would quote Satan if it furthered your 'agenda'.

As John Piper point it out, a woman can have a role in Ministry - - one that is ministering to other women.
Pastor John Piper wrote:
And then when they [women] say: Well, what are you saying we can do? My answer is: 75 percent of the seven billion people in the world—I just checked this to make sure this is a true statement—75 percent of the seven billion people in the world are women or under the age of 15. They have limitless needs of every kind, right? Physical needs and education needs and spiritual needs and relational needs and parenting needs and needs for rescue and endless needs that they have. And my response is: Do anything you want. Care about them. Care about them physically and especially eternally and minister in whatever way you can.

Pragmatism always equates to going outside of scripture. This is a cornerstone of Hybel's church, therefore it is no surprise that it leads to the unbiblical practice of having a woman pastor. When scripture is no longer considered absolutely God-breathed and sufficient (2 Timothy 3:16-17), it leads to grievous errors. This equally sad and dangerous.

Both Larson, and Carter, are mentioned in the article as unmarried and yet each having two children. Are they divorced? Widowed, or widower? Not that it matters to these people that reject the plain text of scripture. This place, and many like it, is not a church but a corporation being run in the philosophy of Peter Drucker, a leading secular corporate philosopher who had a major influence on Hybels and Rick Warren. I wouldn't even call this Christianity anymore. These people need evangelized with the true gospel as much as anyone else in this fallen world.

1Tim 2:11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. 15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety."

"According to Paul, women must be learners, and are not allowed to be public teachers in the church; for teaching is an office of authority, and the woman must not usurp authority over the man, but is to be in silence. But, notwithstanding this prohibition, good women may and ought to teach their children at home the principles of religion. Timothy from a child had known the holy scriptures; and who should teach him but his mother and grandmother? 2 Tim. 3:15. Aquila and his wife Priscilla expounded unto Apollos the way of God more perfectly; but then they did it privately, Acts 18:26. 6. Here are two very good reasons given for the man's authority over the woman, and her subjection to the man, v.13,14. Adam was first formed, then Eve; she was created for the man, and not the man for the woman (1 Co. 11:9); then she was deceived...." (M.Henry)

John for JESUS wrote:
She is sinning, all the while claiming God placed her there. What is wrong with people's discernment? Even CT doesn't say anything is wrong with a female pastor. It's basically an article about a pastoral change with no mention of sin.
They don't dare mention sin anymore, John. It's not marketable, cool or smart in today's society to mention sin, hell or God's wrath. Unfortunately it also leads man down the primrose path of deception.

When I lived in Vegas, my church was Echos of Faith, and the Pastor, Bertie McCoy. I didn't know then that women were not to be Pastors of any church at the time, but I do remember always being a bit surprised that she was the churches pastor because it didn't seem to fit her at all. She was nice and everything, but I never felt it was her calling, even if it had been biblically okay for women to lead a church. Something just always seemed off, not to mention that she would often go off in tongues speaking with arms held high from the pulpit.

Compromise has been going on for some time at Willow Creek. Church structures from leadership of Willow Creek, are about deeds & n't creeds, code word, for we are extremely into soft pedaling the Bible & its truths & commands God has for us.

Proof is in the pudding; http://apprising.org/2010/03/09/t-d-jakes-to-speak-at-willow-creek/

A "church" wit HO-spit-ality

Rev17:"3So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: 5And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. 6And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. 7And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns. 8The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast..."
