Former Satan Worshipper: I'm Shocked Christians Celebrate Halloween
Anton LaVey, the founder of the Church of Satan, said: "I am glad that Christian parents let their children worship the devil at least one night out of the year. Welcome to Halloween."
We are quick on our feet to rush and honor the devil in so many ways. We see no harm in Halloween, because we think it is fun. We paint our faces, we wear our innocent costumes, we dress up our doorways—even churches dress up their entryways for Halloween with pumpkins. These actions are like giving the devil license, saying, "Here's my church. You can have it."
We think because we are not performing any demonic rituals or human sacrifices that we are on safe ground, but did you know that as soon as you dress up, whether you color yourself or put on a costume, the enemy owns you? Because by doing so, you have turned over your legal rights, and you have dedicated yourself and your kids to celebrating the devil's...
Put a little bit of Christian Liberty barbeque sauce on that meat sacrificed to idols. Mm Mm Finger lickin good. BTW, My experience has been that most Christians that are ok with Halloween are reformed and they refuse to take a position on it.
"Let me tell you what we all are by nature. We are spiritually DEAD!
"Dead" is a strong word—but it is not my own coining and invention. I did not choose it. The Holy Spirit taught Paul to write it down about the Ephesians, ""And He has made you alive, who were once dead in trespasses and sins." The Lord Jesus Christ made use of it in the parable of the prodigal son, "This my son was dead and is alive again." (Luke 15:24, 32.) You will read it also in the first Epistle to Timothy, "She that lives in pleasure is dead while she lives." (1 Tim. 5:6.) Shall a mortal man be wise above that which is written? Must I not take heed to speak that which I find in the Bible, and neither less nor more? "Dead" is an awful idea, and one that man is most unwilling to receive. He does not like to allow the whole extent of his soul's disease—he shuts his eyes to the real amount of his danger. Many a one will allow us to say, that naturally most people "are not quite what they ought to be—they are thoughtless—they are unsteady—they are mirthful—they are wild—they are not serious enough." But dead? Oh, no! We must not mention it. It is going too far to say that. The idea is a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence." (J C Ryle) (Old Paths)
While many "evangelical" churches will fall over themselves to celebrate a "Christianised" form of Halloween or some Christian family service to keep the kids off the streets at this time, I bet virtually no church will think of celebrating the 500th Reformation Day, remembering the 500th anniversary of Brother Martin Luther, the Augustinian monk, pinning the 95 Theses on the door of Wittenberg Castle Church, protesting the sale of indulgences by the Catholic. Church, supposedly for forgiveness of sin, that were being hawked by Johann Tetzel, the renegade Dominican friar and his team, to pay for the reconstruction of St Peter's Basilica in Rome, and to repay the bankers who loaned money to Albert of Brandenburg who purchased the Cardinal Archbishopric of Mainz from Pope Leo X, which was also a principality of the Holy Roman Empire, and this sparked off the Protestant Reformation.
I do recall some of the excellent services on Sermon Audio, where churches have celebrated Reformation Day, and recall the sermons of Dr Alan Cairns, the retired pastor of Faith Free Presbyterian Church in Greenville.
“but did you know that as soon as you dress up, whether you color yourself or put on a costume, the enemy owns you? Because by doing so, you have turned over your legal rights, and you have dedicated yourself and your kids to celebrating the devil's holiday..”
Give me a break. This hokey pokey superstition. CharismaNews is part of the Pentecostal speaking in tongues jibber jabber paganesque movement. Halloween is dopey and unbiblical, but for a far worse institution to point this out reveals the true modis operandi of the devil; over emphasize a conspicuous folly under the guise of discernment while leading people astray with truly demonic teachings.
It isn't judging James, its using discernment to avoid that which is evil, yet disguises itself innocently.
"Known as Hallowe'en (UK spelling), Halloween (US spelling), or Samhain, the 31st of October is a traditional Pagan holy day and Witches' Sabbath"- read more at http://www.witchology.com/contents/october/halloween/halloweenorigins.php
by over emphasizing "rationalism" and "right thinking" and forcing cessationism on the text, mainstream Christianity has become void of the reality of spiritual battle. of evil powers and darkness... of the spiritual walk with the Lord, in victory through perseverance and obedience! ...
... we should be fleeing illusions and demonstrations of evil and celebrating as a community what defines who we are such as the Birth of CHrist, HIs Atonement and Resurrection. Celebrating the Providence of the Harvest for our daily needs.
Remembering the works of the saints that came before us.
Halloween is what you make it....like movies, music, sports, job. You judge those that participate even if they wear innocent costumes or collect candy, neither of which is sinful. And what movies and what type of music or sports do you watch or listen to. Easy to judge. Romans 14.
Secondly Halloween is Happy Reformation Day as well also. Regardless if one is Reformed in their theology or n't, all the elect. Have been blessed by how God used, His people by changing their own lives to see how helpless, they were of ever reforming their own-selves. As through the Reformation, God used it, to shake up the World. In proclaiming why so their is No King but Christ alone. That their is only One Narrow & Bloody Way, through One saving Truth. That Only Christ can set the captive free, through the only means of salvation, being through & of Christ alone amen!
Halloween is a great way to love on the lost by sharing truth to them, to all the glory of God. One doesn't need to turn off their lights to turn others away from your home. But instead be a light among spiritual darkness, have good gospel tracts to give out in candy bags & other thoughtful resources to use, to share the gospel.
Another good idea people can do is set up a table in your drive way, with gospel tracts, free Bibles & etc. Have free water bottles to give out, have Big Candy bars to give out to the older kids & adults who can prove they are a Good Person. In taking them through the Good Person Test, as you take it with them, to share with them, that all fail & fall short. Even when giving our maximum efforts, you can love on others in this why, by sharing the whole counsel of Gods Word. Through the Gospel message, that Christ didn't come for Good People, but He came to seek & save lost sinners, who will never be good enough off their own merits or any others, outside of Christ alone amen!
Ray Comfort through Living Waters has Good ideas & resources help for this day amen.
"...as soon as you dress up, whether you color yourself or put on a costume, the enemy owns you? Because by doing so, you have turned over your legal rights, and you have dedicated yourself and your kids to celebrating the devil's..."
Nonsense, although, I don't think Christians should observe Hell-oween. I've listened to the full history of the holiday, which included the breakdown of what each part of the tradition meant and how it came to be, and every single component is spawned from the darkness. By all means, celebrate Samhain, and continue on where the druids and Celtic pagans left off with their offerings and sacrifices to the pagan gods and nature spirits. Why join in celebration with the dark forces, witches, sorcerers, pagans, and Satanists on an evening they regard as their holy night? Sure, it seems innocuous, and just a night of fun dress-up for the kids and adults, but represents the wicked things we're suppose to be fighting against and is fully rooted in evil beginnings. We really need to keep in mind who we're joining in celebration with...
"In the Bible, when the Lord calls the believers "saints," the term means we have been sanctified by the blood of Jesus Christ and the finished work of the cross. We are set apart for good works to glorify God.
As a minister, I would use All Saints' Day to turn the tables on the devil and to celebrate my salvation and the salvation of my family and loved ones. I would use it as an evangelistic opportunity at my church to bring in unsaved people to hear testimonies of God's goodness and how He can transform their lives, too. And that night, I would give the devil a black eye in Jesus' name, because many souls would be saved -- I am surprised at how the world embraces this holiday, because the title of All Saints' Day is a deceiving one. We have a picture in our minds that it seems holy, but there is nothing innocent about it. This holiday is practiced all throughout South and Central America and distant parts of the world, and even in the United States. To the Spanish culture, it is called DĂa de Muertos, and they celebrate the dead through rituals and ceremonies and even cemetery visits. YouTube would be a good place to go and see for yourself what this is about. This holiday has nothing holy about it nor anything to do with saints." - celebrate a harvest of souls! Only!
(TMC) There are many good reasons not to celebrate Halloween. However, the idea that children simply dressing up gives Satan ownership over them and changes their identity is an un-Scriptural superstition. Our Lord’s “legal rights” are non-negotiable- “The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all” ~ Acts 10:36
