Mandalay Bay security guard shot by Stephen Paddock in the moments leading up to the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history was set to break his silence Thursday night with five television interviews, including one on Fox News, Campos' union president said.
Except when the cameras were about to roll, and media gathered in the building to talk to him, Campos reportedly bolted, and, as of early Friday morning, it wasn't immediately clear where he was. "We were in a room and we came out and he was gone,‚ÄĚ Campos' union president told reporters, according to ABC News‚Äô Stephanie Wash."
Little is known about Campos, with few pictures to emerge of the security guard and no apparent online footprint surfacing to provide details about one of the central figures in the mass shooting.
SPFPA President David L. Hickey told reporters new information about the timeline of the attack -- for which Las Vegas Police and MGM Resorts have given conflicting accounts ‚Äď doesn‚Äôt dispute Campos is still a hero for saving a maintenance worker and possibly stopping additional shots, Wash reported.
MGM Resorts issued a statement Thursday to “correct some of the misinformation that has been reported."

It‚Äôs believed gunman Stephen Paddock purposely fired at nearby fuel tanks, Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo said. The shooter‚Äôs brain is being tested for abnormalities, the sheriff said. Security officer Jesus Campos first encountered barricaded door at 9:59 p.m.; was shot later, according to the sheriff. The ‚Äúfiring had ceased‚ÄĚ by the time police arrived, Lombardo said. ‚ÄúNo signs of ideology or affiliation to any groups,‚ÄĚ FBI Special Agent in Charge Aaron Rouse said. Over 1,000 pieces of evidence collected and are being reviewed, Rouse said.

Jim, are you encouraging us to be prepared to shoot violent life threatening radicals to protect our wives and children?
I do hope you know blacks, browns and whites make up those committing Antifa-type assaults, disruptions and violent attacks. "Editing": Sometimes in black neighborhoods against black business
Here is a heartbreaking one for you, among those going into the local abortion clinic here yesterday, a black mother (I am assuming here, in her 30's) taking in (by appearence) her underage teenage daughter (right along with a whole bunch of thoroughly and deliberately depraved white folks) to terminate by death her own granddaughter ... and you want to preach to me about and white racism
All people need the Gospel And the sinful cowardice to preach it knows no color lines does it.

"Mr. President: Words spoken by the President of the United States matter," the brief statement reads. "Are you tonight recanting the oath you took on January 20th to preserve, protect, and defend the First Amendment?"

This is probably the most detailed article on the shooter yet.
ABC News Radio wrote: Multiple officials briefed on the investigation told ABC News on Tuesday night that detectives are still collecting evidence from Paddock’s suite at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. They said the 64-year-old retired accountant and high-stakes video poker player was clearly preparing for some sort of extended siege with authorities after carrying out the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
The officials told ABC News that Paddock had jammed doors, making them difficult to open. He also had access to the hotel’s service elevator and used it in the days leading up to the Oct. 1 shooting.
ABC News Radio wrote: What we have learned is Mr. Campos was encountered by the suspect prior to his shooting to the outside world,‚ÄĚ Lombardo said in a press conference.
According to Brad Garrett, a former FBI agent and ABC News consultant, the change is significant. If the hotel knew there was an active shooter on the 32nd floor six minutes before the rampage began, Garrett says, it raises the question of whether they could have done more to stop him.

Security guard shot before concert shooting began
On Monday, Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo announced a change to the sequence of events that occurred on Oct. 1, saying a security guard who encountered Paddock was actually shot at 9:59 p.m. local time, minutes before the 64-year-old unleashed a hail of gunfire on unsuspecting concertgoers.
Previously, authorities had said that the security guard, Jesus Campos, was shot after Paddock had opened fire on the crowd below....

debate over the efficacy of Australia’s draconian gun control regime continues. As in California, Australian antis take credit for crime rates that were already trending downwards before the government set about disarming the citizenry. So where are they in that process? abcnews.go.com gives us the 411 on the island nation’s current firearms ownership landscape.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics shows the nation has since imported almost 1.2 million legal guns. Military-style, semi-automatic assault rifles continue to be banned from public ownership.
There are 2.89 million registered guns among 24 million Australians, an increase of 9.3 percent in the past five years, the report said. An Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission report released last year estimated there could be as many as 600,000 unregistered guns in Australia.
Most illegal guns in Australia were legally owned before 1996, when guns did not have to be registered. They were not handed in during the buyback and there are no records that they even exist, the report said.
