Mandalay Bay security guard shot by Stephen Paddock in the moments leading up to the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history was set to break his silence Thursday night with five television interviews, including one on Fox News, Campos' union president said.
Except when the cameras were about to roll, and media gathered in the building to talk to him, Campos reportedly bolted, and, as of early Friday morning, it wasn't immediately clear where he was. "We were in a room and we came out and he was gone,‚ÄĚ Campos' union president told reporters, according to ABC News‚Äô Stephanie Wash."
Little is known about Campos, with few pictures to emerge of the security guard and no apparent online footprint surfacing to provide details about one of the central figures in the mass shooting.
SPFPA President David L. Hickey told reporters new information about the timeline of the attack -- for which Las Vegas Police and MGM Resorts have given conflicting accounts ‚Äď doesn‚Äôt dispute Campos is still a hero for saving a maintenance worker and possibly stopping additional shots, Wash reported.
MGM Resorts issued a statement Thursday to “correct some of the misinformation that has been reported."

It‚Äôs believed gunman Stephen Paddock purposely fired at nearby fuel tanks, Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo said. The shooter‚Äôs brain is being tested for abnormalities, the sheriff said. Security officer Jesus Campos first encountered barricaded door at 9:59 p.m.; was shot later, according to the sheriff. The ‚Äúfiring had ceased‚ÄĚ by the time police arrived, Lombardo said. ‚ÄúNo signs of ideology or affiliation to any groups,‚ÄĚ FBI Special Agent in Charge Aaron Rouse said. Over 1,000 pieces of evidence collected and are being reviewed, Rouse said.

Jim, are you encouraging us to be prepared to shoot violent life threatening radicals to protect our wives and children?
I do hope you know blacks, browns and whites make up those committing Antifa-type assaults, disruptions and violent attacks. "Editing": Sometimes in black neighborhoods against black business
Here is a heartbreaking one for you, among those going into the local abortion clinic here yesterday, a black mother (I am assuming here, in her 30's) taking in (by appearence) her underage teenage daughter (right along with a whole bunch of thoroughly and deliberately depraved white folks) to terminate by death her own granddaughter ... and you want to preach to me about and white racism
All people need the Gospel And the sinful cowardice to preach it knows no color lines does it.

"White Christians will inevitably ask, ‚ÄúBut what do we do?‚ÄĚ This question perpetuates the problem. People of color did not create white supremacy; white people did. To ask a racial minority how to solve a problem they didn‚Äôt create and one under which they suffer only adds to their burdens."

Sasse released a statement asking if the president was recanting his oath of office due to his challenge of the First Amendment.
"Mr. President: Words spoken by the President of the United States matter," the brief statement reads. "Are you tonight recanting the oath you took on January 20th to preserve, protect, and defend the First Amendment?"
The tweet containing Sasse's question had received about 9,000 retweets and 19,000 likes within the first three hours of posting.

An Australian mother was slapped with a huge fine Wednesday simply for trying to give a pamphlet to a couple going into a Melbourne abortion facility.
An Australian Magistrate‚Äôs Court found Kathy Clubb guilty of prohibited behavior within a ‚Äúsafe access zone‚ÄĚ and fined her $5,000 for the August 2016 incident, BuzzFeed News reports. ABC News Radio wrote: Multiple officials briefed on the investigation told ABC News on Tuesday night that detectives are still collecting evidence from Paddock‚Äôs suite at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. They said the 64-year-old retired accountant and high-stakes video poker player was clearly preparing for some sort of extended siege with authorities after carrying out the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
The officials told ABC News that Paddock had jammed doors, making them difficult to open. He also had access to the hotel’s service elevator and used it in the days leading up to the Oct. 1 shooting.
ABC News Radio wrote: What we have learned is Mr. Campos was encountered by the suspect prior to his shooting to the outside world,‚ÄĚ Lombardo said in a press conference.
According to Brad Garrett, a former FBI agent and ABC News consultant, the change is significant. If the hotel knew there was an active shooter on the 32nd floor six minutes before the rampage began, Garrett says, it raises the question of whether they could have done more to stop him.

On Monday, Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo announced a change to the sequence of events that occurred on Oct. 1, saying a security guard who encountered Paddock was actually shot at 9:59 p.m. local time, minutes before the 64-year-old unleashed a hail of gunfire on unsuspecting concertgoers.
Previously, authorities had said that the security guard, Jesus Campos, was shot after Paddock had opened fire on the crowd below....
