Rep. Scalise: You can't underestimate the power of prayer

“It starts with God,” Scalise said, recalling how when he was laying on the ballfield that day and unable to move, “I just started praying.”

“Pretty much every one of those prayers were answered,” Scalise said. “He really did deliver for me and my family, and it just gives you that renewed faith and understanding that the power of prayer is just something that you cannot underestimate.”

He added, “I’m definitely a living example that miracles really do happen.”

I can see the warning to self examine sailed right over your head...no surprise. You must be born again, without it, you will never enter God's kingdom Jim L. You and John Y. have that in common, neither of you know of the new birth. May God have mercy.

Well here is something I can state with certainty. Since he is a confirmed RC, then his prayers were not answered by out heavenly Father.

The below applies only to those who are in Christ Jesus!

John 9:31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.

Thanks...happy thoughts received. I put them in a bottle along with some positivity, and corked it, of course. I was thinking I might open it in a forest to give the gnomes and tree fairies a little treat.

Pontificate to yourself lbug. This fellow had some of the same ideas I did, but I left it with the Nixon fiasco, Why I left the Republican Party. As I pointed out so many times, I'm a political Independent and I am evern registered as such.

But since you're here lbug here is a very interesting article about hospitals, Thinking About Health. I see it references a Wall St. Journal article, but this one should be easier for people to access.

Thanks 1517. Up my way, aside from Roman Catholicism, the metaphysical and Buddism with the popularity of yoga has really taken off. This nation sure has taken a left turn and it seems the general flow of society is dictating what people do, how they feel, react, think, and even believe. Interesting time to be alive in to see what we're seeing.
Sending happy thoughts to you and 1517, Christopher

Congressional Rep. Scalise is a Catholic, unless he has had a change of heart, e.g.,
Wikipedia wrote:
In 2002, Scalise was a speaker at a convention for the European-American Unity and Rights Organization (EURO), a group which was founded by David Duke. This was revealed in 2014, after political blogger Lamar White, Jr. uncovered anonymous comments from 2002 on Stormfront, a white supremacist website, which made reference to Scalise as a 2002 speaker at the convention....
[But!]
Scalise apologized for speaking to the group saying, "It was a mistake I regret, and I emphatically oppose the divisive racial and religious views groups like these hold."

You can look at the rest of Wikipedia article about him, but it is certain he does have to Come Out of the Catholic Church

Have you examined your own heart Jim L? The 'Roman road' leads right back to Rome -https://iamhis-lyn.blogspot.com/2017/09/death-along-roman-road.html. Verbal professions are as useless as rituals and works. You must be born again by God - your continual support of the Satanic liberal agenda shows you are in grave danger of judgment. Rather than worry about others, you need to focus on your own heart. May the mercy of God save you as well....

Christopher000,
You do reveal truth. I’m currently taking classes at “Christian” university and some times classmates post the very thing you gave example of “sending good vibes your way” or “positive thoughts your way”. I don’t know what that is they are sending, but it does come across as some cosmic, Eastern mysticism type lingo. I know they are essentially saying “ I hope you have a good or better day” but I wonder where they get the phrases. You’re right, prayer is not a magical shot of spiritual adrenaline or whatever. God knows already the needs of His creation, prayer is a faithful commitment and dependency of Him who knows what is best.

...I can understand ignorance to a point, but not from life-long church goers who talk God, Bible, praying, and church, yet act, re-act, speak, and live worse than many a lost person. Even not knowing a single word from His Word, you'd think common sense and God-sense would define their behavior, and language, etc., as wrong from 5he perspective of Christianity.

I did want to add something since the topic is prayer; something that really infuriates me. Many of you know how people pour out their lives and emotions on social media, daily. Sometimes things to be taken seriously, but mostly, just nonsense that people ask prayers for who are hardly Christians, by any stretch, but hey, the new slogan is, "God loves everyone, just the way you are".
Anyway, not my point. What gets me each time is how there will be dozens, and dozens of comments which read, "Prayers sent", "Sending prayers your way", "Positive vibes on their way", and, "Positive vibes sent", etc.
People approach prayer as if it's some universal magic potion that works on demand, and something tangible which they can shoot through the ether like a metaphysical ballistic missle to it's mental target. Problem is, most of these, well for example, one woman, Jeanine, mother of three, middle-aged, foul-mouthed beyond belief, and raunchy humor, will at the same time, post that she's on her way to mass, plans on lighting candles for people, and asks for prayer requests to petition (whoever) While at church.
These types will be sure to tell everyone how Godly and compassionate they are, post their good deeds, ask for and offer prayer, and tell everyone how awesome mass was, etc.

Wow...what a breath of fresh air in today's climate where God is either hushed up, or those mentioning His name, shouldn't be.
