There is a 40 year trend in SBC churches to lift off the call to repentance of sin. Many of the sermons noted, a squishy psycho babbling about lovin up on the sinners to make them feel accepted. Baptizing hundreds after a month of free meals, tee shirts, coffee cups and pens.
When Jesus returns, his wllowing fork will scoop the whole lot and cast them into utter darkness. Both the clergymen, the parishioners and those led astray and those who approved of their actions. Your holiness depends are whether you've been washed by his blood, not on your actions but through his spirit living in you.

No, John Y., the basis that the United Methodist Church is just plain wrong

Now, one should go to a church that officially accepts true Christianity. Mosst IFBs do. They certainly can fall down on the job, with the cult of the personality perhaps the most serious problem. There's no way to get rid of an errant pastor.
""We call for disciplinary changes so that clergy are neither compelled to officiate at same-sex weddings, nor prohibited from doing so,""
God never compromises with sin. That is the reason why Christ had to be crucified.
Yes there are the visible church and the INVisible church. However the challenge is to remain Scriptural and contend for the faith in obedience to God. A witness within a witness.
The CofE/CofS and other Liberal churches have compromised and eventually became UNBiblical organisations. There motto today is ditch the Bible keep the sin. Yes it is a battle but upsetting those who will not accept the doctrines of Scripture must be accepted as par for the course.
Teaching the world that sin is somehow theologically acceptable is satanic and not of God.
Romans 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections"

Only if it more important to them to be known as Methodists rather than simply known as Christians.
Dr. Tim wrote: Or better yet, leave Methodism altogether and join a church that is not unequally yoked with unbelievers.

What part of "Come out from among them, and be ye separate" don't born-again Methodists understand? There is absolutely no scriptural mandate for "uniting" with advocates of wickedness, but the Bible does have plenty to say about getting as far from them as possible. The Wesleys must be rolling over in their graves.
