Christian leaders stand up for marriage and challenge transsexualism
God’s ‘good purposes for human sexuality’ as revealed in the Bible have been affirmed by prominent Christian leaders from the UK and USA.

Over 150 people, including John Piper, Michael Reeves, Vaughan Roberts and Rosaria Butterfield, initially signed the document known as the Nashville Statement.

It says that the Bible is clear on marriage and gender and that God’s design for people and their sexuality “bring him the greatest glory and bring us the greatest good”.

I have had friends who were politically minded and truly believed that they could change the world through politics.

When you get a Christian who gets it into his mind to run for whatever position, he has to:

1. Give the people what they want.

2. Keep quiet on certain 'hot potatoes'.

3. Be ready to vacillate to one group or another.

I have seen this time and again, where a so called Christian had to keep quiet on certain issues he knew would damage his chances of being elected and appeal to groups (religious or cultural) in order to get their vote.

It ALWAYS means compromise. Perhaps back in the day, when a lot of people lived by a moral guideline that lined up with Scripture, it was more acceptable to run in politics, but it makes one double-minded. We must always remain focused on the Gospel and the Gospel IMO has no place in politics.

So what has the power to change a heart, a document drawn up by man, or proclaiming what Christ has done?

Amen, sister. The Scriptures are authoritative, inerrant, and sufficient. It is the Bible which is given by inspiration of God for all needed things {II Timothy 3:16-17}. Documents like the Nashville Statement are superfluous and powerless.

I think that the Christian should be politically involved, there is a balance, you can be so much involved with politics that you're not proclaiming the gospel as often as you could, or the gospel is made, "Americanized"

Just my thoughts, many would like to have a say in their government but can't, and I think we should be good stewards of what we have.

Romans 1:16 clearly states this, 'For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek."
So what has the power to change a heart, a document drawn up by man, or proclaiming what Christ has done?
Glancing through the list of signatures...I would never sign a document like this, nor would I want my name yoked with most of those who did.
Here, here, sister. Well said.

Big deal...Christians and non-Christians coming together yet again to be unequally yoked. Christians are forgetting their mandate to preach the Gospel not to get politically involved.
