Second vehicle attack: five terror suspects 'wearing suicide vests' shot dead in Cambrils
Residents of the Spanish seaside resort of Cambrils fled in terror in the early hours of Friday after five terrorists wearing suicide vests launched the second ramming attack in the country in a matter of hours.
At least six people were hurt when the attackers drove into pedestrians before being shot dead by security forces, just hours after a similar attack in nearby Barcelona.
The Audi A3 car rammed into people on the seaside promenade of the tourist city 74 miles south of Barcelona, where a van had earlier sped into a street packed full of tourists, killing 13 people and injuring around 100 others....

A 22-year-old Moroccan, Younes Abouyaaqoub, is thought to have been the driver of the van that rammed into crowds in Barcelona on Thursday. He was shot dead after being spotted in a vineyard to the west of Barcelona on Monday wearing a fake explosives belt. Police said he had shouted "Allahu Akbar" ("God is Greatest") and that he was armed with knives.
Mike of New York, I didn't even know anybody made a connection between the two Barcelona and Charlottesville. I haven't read or seen anything by Wolf Blitzer for years! Of course I don't pay attention to that hack Rush Limbaugh, so I had to find something that's connected the two - - besides the rather limited sources that have been mentioned. The Guardian had something and it wanted to point out the differences perhaps even more than the similarities.
Jason Burke wrote: Immediately, a note of caution is needed. Fields and Abouyaaqoub are very different people, who have followed unique and contrasting pathways to violence. They grew up thousands of miles apart, in dramatically different circumstances.
More broadly, rightwing and jihadist violent extremism are distinct phenomena. Loathsome though their views might be, Vanguard America is very far from Isis, which is responsible for the suffering of millions and tens of thousands of deaths in the Islamic world and the west. Fields is no Mohamed Atta, who led the hijackers who killed 3,000 on the east coast of the US in 2001, either. So far, thankfully, there is no rightwing Osama bin Laden or Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

CNN wolf mocked by Rush Limbaugh- RUSH: When I make jokes about these people, they come true. What did I say yesterday on this program? What did I say? I said the reason that they weren’t proclaiming the Taliban or ISIS or anybody having anything to do with the terrorist attack in Barcelona, was because they were waiting to see if maybe it was the alt-right. Maybe it could have been the Nazis. Maybe it could have been European white supremacists. They were hoping and praying. And I then suggested that it won’t be long before somebody in the Drive-Bys points out that this terror attack is a copycat of what happened in Charlottesville, and it didn’t take long. Wolf Blitzer once again making me look, as I am, a genius.
BLITZER: Questions about copycats. There will be questions if what happened in Barcelona was at all, at all a copycat version of what happened in Charlottesville..blah RUSH: Now, you know that I like Wolf Blitzer, and I’ve known Wolf for a lot of years. This is just, folks, stupid. He’s a newsman. He’s a journalist. He should know that ISIS has been employing as a technique a car or van driven into big crowds.." What a maroon

You must be thinking I was responding to something you said. I wasn't, nor did I read any of your links on this thread. My comment was on the left-wing msmedia's attempt to make the Barcelona vehicle attack a "copycat" of Charlottesville which I did watch them do, btw. The topic is vehicle attacks, so yes, it does fit. In fact the 2nd attack brings home the reality of Islamic nut cases doing this many times in the past, which points out the ludicrous media attempt to make a false connection. Sorry it wasn't about you this time.

It was almost fun watching the mainscream media try to make what happened in Barcelona a copycat of events in Charlottesville, and by implication in their twisted thoughts, making Trump responsible. Especially when ISIS and its sick supporters have been doing drive-throughs on people for quite some time now. Such crappy selective memories wacko liberal wing-nuts have.
The Telegraph wrote: Catalan investigators on Saturday raided the house of an imam in the town of Ripoll they believe may have overseen the cell which killed 14 people in twin terrorist attacks in Barcelona and the seaside resort of Cambrils.
Police are trying to piece together how a cell composed of multiple sets of brothers from the same sleepy Pyreenes town came to carry out the devastating attacks, amid reports they planned to blow up the Sagrada Familia.
El Pais, a leading Spanish daily, said they were investigating whether the imam, who apparently left Ripoll around a month ago, might be one of two dead bodies discovered in the Alcanar house. Sources involved in the investigation told El Confidencial they believed he was a "spiritual or idealogical leader" to the cell members, radicalising them and helping them to plan the attacks.
