Australia Archbishop Rejects Sex-Abuse Exception to the Secrecy of Confession

It’s confidential and considered sacred — a conversation strictly between a confessor and priest, never to be divulged. The secrecy of the confessional, a centuries-old sacrament, is taken so seriously that some priests would die before disclosing what has been shared.

Archbishop Denis Hart of Melbourne, who as president of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference represents all Roman Catholic clergy in the country, said Tuesday that he would rather go to jail than breach the seal of confession.

“The laws in our country and in many other countries recognize the special nature of confession as part of the freedom of religion, which has to be respected,” Archbishop Hart told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. ...

Andrew West wrote:
Elizabeth Proust, the head of the Church's own Truth, Justice and Healing Council, fears the institution will emerge from the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse only "partially cleansed and unreconstructed".

"I fear there's a view that once the royal commission reports, and the publicity around what will be a fairly dire report all dies down, that life will go back to what it was," Ms Proust told The Religion and Ethics Report.

"I hope I'm wrong. I'd like to think that the possibility for real transformation of the Church exists, but it's an institution that's been very slow to change on a whole range of issues."

The Priest, the Woman, and the Confessional

Charles Chiniquy
Chick Publications, 1890 - Religion - 144 pages

Former priest reveals a tragic danger of the confessional. What happens when women are commanded, under penalty of eternal damnation, to confess to a man their deepest sexual thoughts and sins?

read it free online

Ez8:12Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, The Lord seeth us not; the Lord hath forsaken the earth.
13. He said also unto me, Turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations that they do.
17. Then he said unto me, Hast thou seen this, O Son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? for they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke me to anger; and, lo, they put the branch to their nose.
18. Therefore will I also deal in fury: mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity; and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them."

A long history of secreted abominations. Exposé by past priest.

Well, then Mr Denis Hart, and all of the others are no better and just as guilty. Once again, they would prefer to protect the child molesters, whether it be a Priest or fellow Catholic laity, and allow them to continue on in their destructive, lust-filled path.
Obligation to God? God abhors you and your perceived obligation, especially when you position yourselves as being endowed from on high with special powers to forgive sin and pull Christ Himself out from Heaven, all day, every day, while ordering Him into a wafer. I'd say, well, I've said it before, that The Roman religious machine is Satan's greatest masterpiece. Even Hitler claimed he was only finishing what the church itself started, and the church condoned the genocide by their utter silence.
The diabolical doctrines of Rome along with the continued overall belief that the church, the Queen of Heaven, obediance to a Pope, and the sacraments saves is the reason you would be hard pressed to find few Catholics who know more of God's Word than a few of the ten commandments. The faith and hope for salvation is in the church. Outside of the church, there can be no salvation: Official church dogma, saint Cyprian of Carthage.
Roman Catholics have been, and are actively being deceived, which is a tragic thing consider
