Illinois is like Venezuela now, a fiscally broken state that has lost its will to live, although for the moment, we still have enough toilet paper.
But before we run out of the essentials, let's finally admit that after decade upon decade of taxing and spending and borrowing, Illinois has finally run out of other people's money.
The best thing to do is to break Illinois into pieces right now. Just wipe us off the map. Cut us out of America's heartland and let neighboring states carve us up and take the best chunks for themselves....
A friend of mine said this about Illinois, " I doubt everything I read in the mainstream news nowadays and I doubt it is that bad in reality (they could pass a budget but don't want to), but they want you to think it is so they can cut more stuff and have more for their greedy, elite selves." There's much insight in that thought.
Prov11:1 A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.
Prov 16:11 A just weight and balance are the LORD'S: all the weights of the bag are his work.
Prov20:23 Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good
-- Lev19:"35 Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in meteyard, in weight, or in measure." measurer is a judge; and if he acts deceitfully, he perverts judgment, and does that which is detestable and abominable, and is the cause of the five following things said of a judge; he defiles the land, and profanes the name of God, and causes the divine Majesty to remove, or causes Israel to fall by the sword, or carries them captive out of their land:"
Lev19:36"Just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin, shall ye have: I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt."
Modern "money " robs via inflation- we are seeing products packaged in slick ways to mimic fake money. The poor on fixed incomes lose and suffer by schemers.
Maybe they can reduce its status to that of Puerto Rico, and upgrade P.R.'s status to that of a state. That way, we keep our flag with 50 stars. No, the real solution is for Illinois to borrow the printing machines at the US Mint to make money to pay off their debts. Of course, the real problem is with state pensions, and the 'devil is in the details' there. Here's a few questions--how long do you have to work to qualify for a pension? what percentage of your salary do you get? is there a reduction for retiring before 65? how about health insurance for those retiring before age 65? all these answers make a big difference in how much money the pension system has to pay. I've heard Kentucky is facing similar problems from a 'juicy' pension system that has many people retiring in their fifties with more than half their salary in pension.
open up the homestead act again, get new communities going based on local trade, get the Mexican drug cartels and fraud out, cut off generational welfare and offer anyone who wants out to start a homestead....if not move to the closest sanctuary ie democratic led city until that one collapses too.
his plan "Indiana also gets the Indianapolis White Sox and the hottest soccer team in America, the Indianapolis Fire. Why not? Indiana is a great state, with friendly people and Mitch Daniels and Kilroy's in Bloomington. Iowa can have part of the west. Missouri may also get a small piece. Kentucky can take southern Illinois, considering many on both sides of the border share Kentucky DNA, as did Abraham Lincoln And though some in Kentucky might not respect "the media," the state does have excellent bourbon. I would allow Kentucky to send me countless barrels of its fine sipping spirit so that I might hold it in escrow, to make sure everything goes as planned. I promise to sip their bourbon and light a cigar, and hum a few sad bars from that song of the former Illinois that no one sings anymore:"
Comes an echo on the breeze, rustling through the leafy trees, Boss Madigan has us on our knees, Illinois, Illinois
Boss Madigan has us on our knees, Illinois
-- 2Chr10:14 And answered them after the advice of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add thereto: my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions."
