Dick Van Dyke Slams Modern Screen Violence
Dick Van Dyke, who is currently filming Mary Poppins Returns, which is scheduled for release next year, has warned of his fears over the effects of “scary” video games and films on young children.

The 91-year-old actor, who will make a cameo appearance in the upcoming film, describes these activities as a far cry from the free-spirited, kite-flying, carousel-riding world of the two children, Jane and Michael, in the original Mary Poppins.

Van Dyke believes video games incite violent behaviour and that big-screen violence is affecting impressionable young people who “idolise it as a romantic way of life”. He has no doubt Walt Disney would have been horrified by the explicit depictions of blood, gore and killing in some of the contemporary productions created to entertain children. “He would have spoken out about it,” he said. ...

Since I was trying to avoid something that I should have been doing, I uas using my computer monitor what it was designed for, a t.v. set. Guess what! I happen to run into the Dick Van Dyke "Diagnosis: Murder" show. It was about euthanasia, probably a little too liberal, but still not as liberal as liberals would have it. So, you can see a Dick Van Dyke crime show, and you can render your own verdict on it, and this would be a good one to make that decision about.

It lacks gore and mayhem, but it is really bad, it makes a person think --- nothing that entertainment and radio commentators should never do (Left & Right Voices in Talk Radio & TV), Yeah, it could stand some updating.

Ah, John, that isn't as bad as attending the Romish Church! (Is the One True Church Roman Catholic?., 1st URL.

"Mary Poppins"
The fact that she could fly using her umbrella might make us wonder as Christians whether we should be watching this sugar coated gunk. No wonder kids find it difficult to grasp Bible reality when subjected to this and especially Dr Who and other science fiction nonsense. So, Pa, the Doctor is a Time Lord who travels the Universe and has a gay companion (the script written by a gay). Christians spend too much time watching and debating the 'reality' of warped fictional nonsense like Star Wars, Harry Potter, Star Trek and the other numerous latest sci-fi-movies. These do nothing but introduce an unbiblical anti-God and ant-truth world view to our kids. So guess why kids are confused at Sunday School when the pastor's avatar is the latest 'Dr' from Dr Who and they have just watched Mary Poppins flying through the sky! We wonder why we see no 'real' blessing in our churches and no mighty works done in the midst? Pastors sat in the movies (in front of the TV) will rarely be a blessing to their congregation. Notice it is spreading even to the modern 'cool' Puritans.

I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes (Pastor?)

The Guardian article is good I would suggest you read it.

I'm not sure if any of the Disney family has anything to do with Disney productions. By the way, one couldn't connect Walt with Free Masonry, because I believe he was still alive when the Romish church made a big push to make sure Romists didn't belong to what the Romish church is a competing organization. Probably would have been more wholesome if Catholics quit the Romish Church and stayed Masons if they belonged to that organization. Note! as I've said before A Christian doesn't belong to Free Masonry, for that matter he doesn't belong to the Romish Church either, q.v., (Is a Catholic Christian an Oxymoron?).

As I said, the article should be read. Also remember Dick Van Dyke was the star of (Diagnosis: Murder). If memory serves this series was free of gratuitous violence.

IE, thank you reminding me about some of the music in "Mary Poppins" You remember the bad ones, I liked the songs that attacked greed! (1 Corinthians 5:11)
