Sierra Leone pastor unearths one of the largest diamonds ever found
An African church minister who supplements his meagre stipend by scrabbling for minerals in the artisanal mines of eastern Sierra Leone has discovered one of the largest diamonds ever found.

The 709-carat stone was extracted this week by Emmanuel Momoh, a pastor in one of the myriad churches that ministers to the mining communities of Kono district, the diamond centre that became the crucible of Sierra Leone’s blood-soaked civil war.

It is believed to be the 13th largest uncut diamond ever to be pulled from the ground, industry analysts said. ...

Geophysicist Dr John Baumgardner, part of the RATE research group, investigated 14C in a number of diamonds. There should be no 14C at all if they really were over a billion years old, yet the radiocarbon lab reported that there was over 10 times the detection limit. Thus they had a radiocarbon ‘age’ far less than a million years! Dr Baumgardner repeated this with six more alluvial diamonds from Namibia, and these had even more radiocarbon.

The presence of radiocarbon in these diamonds where there should be none is thus sparkling evidence for a ‘young’ world, as the Bible records.

Diamonds: a creationist’s best friend
Radiocarbon in diamonds: enemy of billions of years

Carbon
What do hard sparkling diamonds and dull soft pencil ‘lead’ have in common? They are both forms (allotropes) of carbon. Most carbon atoms are 12 times heavier than hydrogen (12C), about one in 100 is 13 times heavier (13C), and one in a trillion (1012) is 14 times heavier (14C). "

Finding C14 in diamonds? Expected with Bible truth- a glittering truth that drives old Earthers nuts.

The diamond mining industry is such a joke. I don't mean the slave labor that goes on, but giants like De Beers, etc, creating the shortage and supply/demand myth over stones that are wildly abundant. Unfortunately, the abundance is only in certain areas of the world so these mines, not unlike the oil tycoons, can set prices as they please. People spend fortunes on a piece of organized carbon believed to be a hundred million years old and the market for these is like no other. Why do people want diamonds? Status...the bigger, the better as the ladies ooh and ahhh in envy. Yes, my wife has diamond engagement and wedding rings, so I guess that makes me a hypocrite. Never bought any since though because I think they're a waste of money...a lot of money.
Shiny sparkly things attract, don't they?

We live in a part of Montana where we can quite easily find garnets, bits of gold and saphires. The beauty in these precious stones and metal God has created is yet another testament to God's awesome power and His incredible creaviteness. The process by which we purify these stones and metal we have used many times to teach the children the process of salvation. We will never get rich from a weekend hobby, nor do we wish to; however, God made it, it's good and beautiful - not unlike the diamond this gentleman found! Pray he will use it for God's glory and rejoice with those who rejoice!

If the pastor's professed faith is true, the biggest diamond was revealed long before this physical discovery.
