Bishop: Evangelicals Must Stick With Church Despite 'False Teaching' On Gay Marriage
The Bishop of Maidstone and former chair of Reform, a traditionalist grouping, urged evangelicals to 'stick by the ship' despite hints of a shift in attitudes towards gay relationships.

'In the face of false teaching, the Apostle Paul tells Timothy both to keep his distance from it but also to continue in patient teaching,' Bishop Thomas writes. 'He recognises that this may involve suffering.'

The 'floating' bishop, whose position was installed to appease conservatives, offers oversight to those parishes who refuse to recognise female ordination but find themselves under a woman bishop.

Thomas admits a number of his fellow bishops are calling for the Church to be more affirming of same-sex relationships but says evangelicals 'are on a different trajectory'. ...

Charles Spurgeon on Catholic Priests wrote:
When a fellow comes forward in all sorts of curious garments and says he’s a priest, the poorest child of God may say, “Stand away and don’t interfere with my office. I am a priest. I know not what you may be. You surely must be a priest of Baal. The priesthood belongs to all the saints. They sometimes call you laity, but the Holy Ghost says of all the saints,

The prayer book says, “Then shall the priest say.” What a pity that word was ever left there. The very word priest has the smell of the sulfur of Rome about it, that so long as it remains, the Church of England will give forth an ill saver. Call yourself a priest, sir. I wonder, men are not ashamed to take the title. When I collect what priests have done in all ages, what priests connected with the Church of Rome have done, I repeat what I have often said. I would sooner a man pointed at me in the street and called me a devil than call me a priest, for bad as the devil has been, he has hardly been able to match the crimes and cruelties and villainies that have been transacted under the cover of a special priesthood.

Adirel, you'll see I left out the WCF that John MacArthur also quoted. I didn't see much reason for both of us having it. I don't think The Anti-Christ has appeared yet, he may be already waiting in the wings to take charge, I have no doubt the Papacy will become the seat of actual Anti-Christ sometime in future. Charles Spurgeon is quite good at pointing to evils of the Papacy, and I put much of his quotation up.

John also didn't leave the Anglican church off the hook either in passing by the way in this particular article and which you can hear as sermon for that matter, ]]http://tinysa.com/234697 (The Pope and the Papacy)

Evangelists should be evangelizing Anglicans and Catholics, since they are unsaved.

In what way do you disagree with me since your friend MacArthur quotes the same WCF statement as I have?

JY says....
"The Bible states there will only be one Anti-Christ who will come on the scene at the time of the Great Tribulation Period"

The tribulation period has been on earth since Christ left 2000 years ago.

"First, when most people think of the great tribulation, they are thinking of the dispensational idea that at (or about) the time of the Rapture, the world enters a seven-year period of tribulation in which the Antichrist comes to power after the unexpected removal of all believers. The Antichrist then makes a seven-year peace treaty with Israel, only to turn upon Israel after three and a half years, plunging the world into a geo-political crisis which ends with the battle of Armageddon. Dispensationalists believe this is a time of horrific cruelty and that only way to be saved during this period is to refuse to take the mark of the beast, and not worship the beast or his image. The main problem with this interpretation is that it is nowhere found in Scripture." (K.Riddlebarger)

The Bible states there will only be one Anti-Christ who will come on the scene at the time of the Great Tribulation Period. And therefore the Pope is not the one and only Anti-Christ. The Pope might be one of the many anti-christs.

I will disagree in part with both John Y., and Adriel, though Adriel is closer to the truth, the Pope is an anti-Christ not The Anti-Christ
]] http://tinyurl.com/zh7uozj (The Pope and the Papacy) from which,
John MacArthur said or, wrote:
John Knox, 1505-1572, the great Scottish Presbyterian sought to counteract the tyranny which the Pope himself had for so many ages exercised over the church. He himself said the Papacy is the very antichrist, the Pope being the son of perdition of whom Paul speaks.

Spurgeon went on to say, “Popery is contrary to Christ’s gospel and is the antichrist and we ought to pray against it. It should be the daily prayer of every believer that the antichrist might be hurled like a millstone into the flood...because it wounds Christ, because it robs Christ of his glory, because it puts sacramental efficacy in the place of his atonement and lifts a piece of bread into the place of the Savior and a few drops of water into the place of the Holy Spirit. And puts a mere fallible man like ourselves up as the Vicar of Christ on Earth.

I'll certainly agree with these gentlemen about the evilness of the Pope, anyway.

""a number of his fellow bishops are calling for the Church to be more affirming of same-sex relationships but says evangelicals 'are on a different trajectory'"

No!
Some church goers can perceive the truth and obey the Word of God.

Those who reject the Laws, Precepts and Doctrines of GOD as do the Liberals do not have faith the gift of God. They serve the world and its iniquity.

The Anglican church is like the Roman Catholic church by their ideologies, actions and statements they prove that they are not Christian. That is the evil nature of satanic Liberalism.

"2Tim 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: FROM SUCH TURN AWAY."

The Greek at this point means:-
"to turn away from - to shun - avoid."

If the so called "evangelicals" are truly Biblical then they do not belong to the same witness that the overall Anglicans are manifesting.

Good comments. The ignorant are beguiled by their own willful ignorance. This is what concerns me because so many place their eternal fate into the hands of mere men. What these men say, goes, because they are on higher spiritual planes of existence, know the secrets to interpreting scripture, and are at God's right hand. Studying the scriptures for one's self isn't necessary when these men can just tell the ignorant what to believe.
So many are changing their views on all things sodomite because the likes of these Bishops, the TD Jake's type wolves, and even evangelical pastors gone bad are convincing them that God's Word evolves, God loves everyone, God made us this way.
The ignorant are without excuse, and woe to those in positions of leadership who lead these astray...

John MacArthur wrote:
Leaving a church is not something that should be done lightly. Too many people abandon churches for petty reasons. Disagreements over simple matters of preference are never a good reason to withdraw from a sound, Bible-believing church. Christians are commanded to respect, honor, and obey those whom God has placed in positions of leadership in the church (Heb. 13:7, 17). However, there are times when it becomes necessary to leave a church for the sake of one's own conscience, or out of a duty to obey God rather than men....

He wants me to listen to him, but will he listen to me? "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever?" (2 Corinthians 6:14, 15 ESV)
