Judges: Gays' feelings trump Christian's faith

The nine judges on the Washington state Supreme Court – Mary Fairhurst, Charles Johnson, Barb Madsen, Susan Owens, Debra Stephens, Charles Wiggins, Steve Gonzalez, Sheryl McCloud and Mary Yu – have decided they can order a citizen to violate her Christian faith.

Affirming the aim of “eradicating discrimination,” McCloud wrote in her opinion that the state’s nondiscrimination law takes precedent over religious belief, even if it “substantially burdens” constitutional, religious, free-exercise rights.

The case is over Washington floral artist Barronelle Stutzman’s refusal to support same-sex “marriage” with her artistry. She was sued by the state for her decision, which was based on her sincerely held religious faith.

Stutzman’s advocates immediately announced they will seek a review at the U.S. Supreme Court to reverse a decision “that concluded that the government can force her – and, by ...

The second thing I would like to address is the fact that words change meanings.

In II Thess. 2:7 the word let (letteth) meant to hold down, today it means to allow

In several passages (like Eph. 2:3) we see the word conversation which meant lifestyle, today it means to talk with one another

In I Cor. 13 the word charity meant unconditional love and today it means benevolent giving.

In I Thess. 4:15 the word prevent meant precede, today it means to stop something from happening.

We, unlike Jim from Lincoln, don't blame the KJV for being arcane, we just realize the etymology of the words have changed.

Even Oxford dictionary states

Gay meaning 'homosexual' became established in the 1960s as the term preferred by homosexual men to describe themselves. ... As a result, the centuries-old other senses of gay meaning either 'carefree' or 'bright and showy' have more or less dropped out of natural use.

Because the terms sodomite and gay are synonymous there is no reason to think oneself more spiritual by not using modern vernacular.

My response will be in two parts, one now and one tomorrow Lord willing.

Here is the setting. In the dark of only a moonlight night we have a young man in the streets. He is propositioned by a lady who uses fair speech and subtlety to convince him to go with her. The husband is gone on a long journey and will not be back for awhile. This is the context (Proverbs 7)in which we find ourselves. It can easily be related to the modern day "women of the night" and their nefarious activities as what they do fits the context of the passage.

What cannot fit is something that happens outside the realm of prostitution or something that happens during the daytime or at a well light gathering. It is in this passage we find the phrase used only this once in the Bible, "the attire of an harlot"

Now according to what you said about the passage of where two or three are gathered, you cannot use this phrase, as you have, to describe girls at the mall, cheerleaders at a sporting event, or ladies in television shows. To do so is clearly out of context.

Would you agree?

U.S., SC has contacted me via email and asked me to forward the below message from her to you. She is apparently having trouble posting.

So, U S, should we alter the KJV of the word "gay" to be progressive?
You see the problem with that. Some words change meaning with little effect
but in this case, you are left with the Bible using what it uses for
lighthearted as a "legitimate" word for that which is abominable.
Better to leave that one alone. What if the culture changes the word
"sodomy"? Same deal.
And,the prayer of a righteous man avails much. We may pray corporately but
that verse is in regards to discipline and is frequently misused. It's not
good to take verses out of context.
The use of Two or three in the verse is relevant in regards to discipline.
Two or three to pray, however,is not. Otherwise, the prayer of one would be
of no effect.

Diane, what a blessing it must have been for you to be delivered from feminism. Women were assigned specific roles by our heavenly Father and men different ones. But, both are equal before their Creator.

No egalitarianism!

sc, a couple of observations if I may.

1. While I agree they adopted the term "gay" to lighten the concept of sodomy at this point everyone associates it with sodomy. If you told somebody that you were "gay,", no one would assume it meant you were happy they would all believe you were calling yourself a homosexual.

2. The Scripture has many applications even if it is not the main interpretation of the passage. You would not say a Christian cannot claim the sufficiency of the grace of God in life's difficulties because they are not the apostle Paul to whom that was said about a specific ailment (2 Cor. 12:9). You wouldn't say God won't supply the believers needs because they are not part of the church at Philippi which met Paul's temporal needs in the first century. (Phil. 4:19)

To be clear, are you saying that where two or three believers (or more)are gathered together that Christ will not be in their midst if they are not involved in church discipline?

I would say the latter. We are instructed to pray in Jesus' name, according to God's will. It is in God's will that His people are delivered from evil. Throughout scriptures and history, His people were delivered from oppression and persecution as they prayed and fasted for such purposes. It could be normal fast, or if it was extremely rough stuff going on it would be an absolute fast (no food or water).

It happened when Israel was attacked multiple times in the Middle East. It happened during the world wars. It happened when Esther and all the Jews were threatened with total annihilation in the bible during that time. It happens also in America.

"McCloud wrote in her opinion that the state’s nondiscrimination law takes precedent over religious belief"

Well that ought to make it a lot easier for Satan to "discriminate" against the Christian.

God, according to the judges statement, is downgraded to below man's laws - especially the sinners "laws" on the acceptance of sin and abomination.

Satanic judges are being used by the rulers of darkness of this world (Eph 6:12) to destroy the Word, Laws and Doctrines of God.
May the Lord rebuke them!

First of all....misuse of the word "gay" lightens the concept of sodomy.
Secondly, two or three gathered...is in reference to church discipline.
We need to recognize that we are under Judgment and to acknowledge how we got to this point and address those issues first.
I would think that things will wax worse for us otherwise.
I listen to a preacher on the radio who is pretty solid in his teaching except he often uses illustrations of the dallas football team always placing them favorably.I'm guessing that most of his congregation are big fans.
Anybody see the disconnect here? Sodomy is in our faces but we don't get it.
How can we miss the obvious to the point of endorsing flagrant promiscuity?

Good comment. When we ask in accordance to His will we shall receive it. You mentioned prayer and related it with the moving of the Holy Spirit:

John 14:13-17King James Version (KJV)

13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Prayer is mentioned and the Holy Spirit is told that He will work in you. The wills become similar and your prayers turn to align with God's will and glorifying God.

Pray to God to deliver us from this, and it will happen. Do not go this alone. Get two or more people. Let God know that you gather in the name of Jesus Christ to pray, and make your petition known to God. God the Father will hear you and deliver you from evil.

Additionally, ask Him to humble unrighteous leaders and exalt those who will yield fruits of righteousness and the Holy Spirit to Him. Expect to see results, do not doubt, and you will see results. Eventually, you get to a point where no matter what is in the news, if you pray and come in agreement, you will be delivered. It is God who rules and this is a formula that works: God's prayer formula. It is beautiful and is super effective.

As you do this, suddenly concerns you prayed about happens in the news. God delivers his people, and you prayed about that! Suddenly, you really see the effect of being the salt and light of the world, even if it is behind a keyboard. So pray, and all things will work together for your good because you are in Christ Jesus!

Matthew 18:19
19 “Again I say[c] to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”
