Orthodoxy and Catholicism trust in the same unbiblical, perpetually virgin and all-powerful Mary. For example, Traditions about the Earthly Life of the Most Holy Mother of God, published by a Russian Orthodox monastery in 1903, has a sinless Mary from age three serving for 14 years in the Holy of Holies in the temple,... fed by an angel (p 58) and giving birth to Jesus at age 15.... This ‚ÄúQueen of Heaven‚ÄĚ inspired the Gospels and Epistles but was too humble to take credit. ( )

I also watched a You Tube video some time ago of the history of the Russian Orthodox Church, and there were a couple of attempts in the late Middle Ages led by country priests and laymen, with some initial success, but later brutally suppressed, at a kind of Protestant style Reformation within the Russian Orthodox Church, with evangelistic Bible based preaching and teaching, and de emphasising sacraments.
Perhaps, the one good thing with the Russian Orthodox Church at present is that much of it is fiercely opposed to the claims of the Roman Catholic Papacy!!
The odd thing is that likely as not, though the Georgian Orthodox Church has exactly the same theology as the Russian Orthodox Church, they are likely not on very good terms with each other at the moment, as Russia has invaded a province of Georgia, and installed a puppet "independent" government there, just as it did with 2 areas of Eastern Ukraine, and the direct annexation of the Crimea into Russia, thus also meaning that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, is also not happy with its Russian Orthodox neighbour!!
I wonder if this very senior priest that was arrested at the airport, may have been sympathetic to the Russians. I don't know.
It does sadly show what happens when a church or denomination becomes the state approved church of a nation. This is most unwise, even if the church claims to be evangelical in its theology.
It is one of the failures of the Protestant Reformation, that sadly the new Protestant Church, Lutheran, Anglican or Reformed, merely replaced the Roman Catholic Church, as the new state church of these new Protestant states.
An interesting religion, famous for spawning one of they most infamous tyrants in the last several centuries, Josef Stalin. His cruel father priest probably want Josef to follow in his footsteps, but he only stayed a year in seminary.

Anyway, Stalin used the Orthodox Church for his ends as Putin does now, ]]http://tinyurl.com/hctmo3a (The Story Of The Russian Orthodox Church And Its New Convert, President Putin).
