Does Neil Gorsuch's Liberal Church Matter?

As President Donald Trump has nominated Tenth Circuit Court Judge Gorsuch to fulfill the vacancy on the United States Supreme Court, many conservatives have praised the selection while others are weary of the fact that Gorsuch attends a very liberal Episcopal church in Colorado.

However, multiple reports have pointed out that Gorsuch and his wife attend St. John's, Boulder — a liberal Episcopal church headed by a very liberal, pro-LGBT female rector named Rev. Susan Springer.

Opposition to Gorsuch's affiliation with St. John's was voiced even before he was nominated.

Christian conservative activist and lawyer Andy Schlafly, the son of the late pro-life leader Phyllis Schlafly, voiced his concern over the possible nomination of Gorsuch in an email sent in November with the subject line: "veto these Sup. Ct. nominee candidates." ...

Gorsuch has a conservative court record. And thus he is a conservative. Just because he attends a liberal Episcopal Church does not mean he is demon possessed. He is most certainly is demon influenced if he attends a liberal Episcopal Church.

You know if he was not a strict constructionist and also conservative in his thinking, he would be a slam dunk with the liberals and nobody would be talking about considering the nuclear option. Some Senators in whose states Trump won by a good margin are up for re-election next year and they don't want to doom their chances, so they have stated they would vote for the nominee.

I would avoid Texan's website as it is the clear teaching of the New Testament that Paul established churches (37 references to them) on his missionary journeys and spoke of the local church as the pillar and ground of the truth.

Indeed not a good sign and Trump already knew this when choosing him. That is how we got John Roberts from Bush, too. Ivanka has Trump's ear and supports LGBT rights. Don't get too hopeful about Trump since he has no principles he holds to.

Gorsuch cried when Trump rebuke a Fed "judge"
Not a good sign.

"When politicians don black robes and seize powers they do not have, they should be called out for what they are–usurpers and petty tyrants. And if there is a cause upon which the populist right should unite, it is that elected representatives and executives make the laws and rule the nation. Not judges, and not justices.

Indeed, one of the mightiest forces that has birthed the new populism that imperils the establishment is that unelected justices like Warren and Brennan, and their progeny on the bench, have remade our country without the consent of the governed–and with never having been smacked down by Congress or the president.

Consider. Secularist justices de-Christianized our country. They invented new rights for vicious criminals as though criminal justice were a game. They tore our country apart with idiotic busing orders to achieve racial balance in public schools. They turned over centuries of tradition and hundreds of state, local and federal laws to discover that the rights to an abortion and same-sex marriage were there in Madison’s Constitution all along. We just couldn’t see them."

Buchanan rebuked judge worship. Most lawyerly of lawyers get "judge" gigs.."law" expertise? Game system

Mike, notice at the word evangelization was put in quote marks.

I believe the author, who was a lawyer and a supreme court clerk at one time would probably know what was in the Constitution, originally. slaveholding was allowed in the Constitution originally. but was it the 14th Amendment which change that? so again go over the article.

Does any person's church matter? Does everyone in every church believe a 'party line' one hundred percent? Do they even know what the 'party line' for their church is?
I do not think so. I think many people attend church because their parents or spouse force them.

What Judge Neil Gorsuch's Colorado colleagues think of him

Trevor Hughes, USA TODAY

BOULDER – Sober in his thinking, polite and measured in his demeanor, Judge Neil Gorsuch has a reputation as a demanding instructor favored by his students.

Gorsuch, nominated to the Supreme Court on Tuesday night by President Trump, lives in Boulder and has been a part-time instructor at the University of Colorado Law School since 2008.

-/-
Uh oh! A university approval!!

Bad sign.

Just how " conservative" could he be?

Will he be asked If he has "the fear of God"???

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Pr1:7

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
Prov 9:10

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.Ps111:10

1) No Christian can be evangelized by the Pope

2) Don't know where this comes from in the thread context.

3) Link is wrong in its conclusion. It was the Supreme Court NOT being strict constructionist that led to them deciding the "'the negro race' were not citizens of the United States and therefore lacked standing to sue in federal court." Strict construction would have held to the fact that nowhere in the Constitution are persons defined as property. It was the SC decided they could be things. Dred Scott decision is proof of very loose construction, not strict.

SteveR, that was interesting information, maybe he's a Jesuit (q.v., ]]http://tinyurl.com/c7c8hlq (Who Are the Jesuits? He at least he went from the fire into the frying pan, and opposite leap from that great legal mind Clarence Thomas (]]http://tinyurl.com/hutyj5o (Why Anita Hill’s 1991 Testimony Is So Haunting Today) which this article would suggest he might have had a bigger influence outside the Supreme Court than on it.)

Umm, and what would Hillary end up doing but give us Obamas pick. Trump needs another Justice to retire and replace them, then, start sending new nominees for appellate court and district court justices. It'll probably buy 20 years in the realm of conservative judicial rulings.

Near as we can tell, he has been a constitutionalist. If that is thought right wing, it's only from the viewpoint of the left wing, which is anti-constitutionalist.

I gave up on these prolife corporations liked National Right to Life a long time ago. They are money making businesses just like PP, just on the other side. NRTL even has retirement accounts for employees. Hmmm. What will those poor people do if Roe v Wade ever gets overturned? Maybe start 401 c3 churches?

Has Judge Gorsuch Ever Said...??
Unable to name a single pro-life justice.
Who never said the following?

"An unborn child has a right to life."

..If you said Justice Roberts, you're right!
If you said Justice Alito, you're right!
If you said Justice Thomas, you're right!
If you said Justice Souter, you're right!
If you said Justice Kennedy, you're right!
If you said Justice Scalia, you're right!
If you said Justice O'Connor, you're right!
If you said Judge Gorsuch, you're right!

For decades, National Right To Life and the pro-life industry has cheered each Supreme Court Justice, who was eventually confirmed, who had been nominated by Ronald Reagan, George H.W., and George W. Bush! Yet
every one of those judges
reject
that the unborn child has a right to life.

Central Holding: The late Notre Dame law professor, pro-life Charles Rice, taught (see youtu.be/r4esSBgE10Y) that every one of the Republican justices since 1973 have accepted the central holding of Roe v. Wade that the unborn child does not have a right to life.

Pro-choice Republican Justices: Those Justices are Sandra Day O'Connor (1981), Antonin Scalia (1986), Anthony Kennedy (1988), David Souter (1990), Clarence Thomas (1991), John Roberts (2005), &Samuel Alito (2006).

Gorsuch was raised Catholic, and educated by Jesuits, so his views so far reflect his upbringing and not the Church he and his Episcopalian wife recently started attending. But how long can Gorsuch and family attend a pro gay pro choice Church before it begins to influence his legal views?
