Bill to Shut U.S. Education Department Introduced in Congress
Legislation to shut down the controversial and unconstitutional U.S. Department of Education was introduced in Congress this week by Representative Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), a leading constitutional conservative. The bill, H.R. 899, would help President Donald Trump follow through on his campaign statements suggesting a desire to abolish the department as well as the Obama-backed “Common Core” school standards. The legislation was introduced on the same day U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos was confirmed by the Senate.

If and when the bill is passed into law, the one-sentence measure would give the powerful U.S. Education Department until the end of 2018 to wind down its operations. What would happen then with the dizzying array of unconstitutional federal “education” programs, statutes, and decrees was not immediately clear. But sources on Capitol Hill said the focus was on getting the ball ...

Why do you keep stating I have a different Jesus? I worship the biblical and historical Jesus at that Baptist Church I attend on Sunday mornings just like everybody else at that Baptist Church. Pastor Steve of that Baptist Church accepts that I am a Born Again Christian. And I worship the biblical and historical Jesus at the local Catholic parish on late Saturday afternoons. To all you on here who state that the Catholic Church does not encourage Bible reading. This past Saturday at the beginning of Mass there were 2 women and 2 men who are in the process of converting to the Catholic Church. There was a little ceremony in which they were each given a Bible to read.

Ever seen the poster that has the eighth grade education questions from the turn of century? I can answer two, and I'm reasonably educated. Do a search to find them. Time well spent. I have some employees that have difficulty reading, two who can't read at all, yet are very skilled with their trade. Make more money than some college educated people. They own homes and pay taxes. Their is room for apprenticeship education ,after bad three R's, for those showing difficulty with books.

Govt agencies don't set minimum standards, they lower them. Outcome based education requires lowest common denominator application. That's why homeschooling does a better job of educating. It sees the child as an individual to be taught to his or her highest capability, not as a future production unit molded to fit in some economic theory.

You must have checked the price of ranch/farm land, John

Anne, sorry to say, in some respects, in a country as large as ours, some minimum standards should be set and more or less carried out, hence public schools.

Would I be upset if some the practices of the Dept. of Ed. were changed? No. Should something like a Dept of Ed. be? Perhaps..What was started in in 1867 would be more to your liking?

Interesting article, Considering what happened last year, yes, the Public Ed. system is a flop!

I would wish your children be born healthy. A few here have had the unhappy occurrence having to have special education services, which is almost always part of the public school system. [ ]]http://tinyurl.com/jcrlxlj (Education Secretary Betsy DeVos Blocked by Protesters From Entering DC Public School) ], something DeVos wasn't aware of at her first hearing.

But, yes, ]]http://tinyurl.com/onopq7q (NET: Home School Nebraska) I have referenced this often, and I do support homeschooling--even if some public school teachers are unhappy about it, in the video.

P.S., how else can Muslims stopped their kids being corrupted with the ideals of American democracy , right, Anne?

Jim, people often confuse education with public schooling. I don't fault people for this because most of us have been indoctrinated to buy that load of hooey. But by biblical standards, education is discipleship, life skills, living. How many unemployeed men and women hold college degrees? Most of them. How will the "under privileged" be educated? That's not a difficult question. Give them life skills, and let them rise to a level they can live with instead of wasting 13 years in sub par schooling for... what, exactly? Government schools are not and were not established for this purpose and we have suffered for it ever since. The fruit on that tree is rottenly ripe and, sadly, plentiful. But it's just a stinking lot of entitlement, uncivilized, unsocialized, rude, disrespectful, ignorant adult-children that are a burden to society instead of a blessing. When you deviate from God's standards this is what you're left with.

There's been a dept of Ed. around since 1867, so people have found a use for it. So, how do yuo make sure the physically handicapped, and people who are as smart as the typical Jew, dumb whites for example get the education useful in any state that they need?

""Legislation to shut down the controversial and unconstitutional U.S. Department of Education was introduced in Congress this week by Representative Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), a leading constitutional conservative""

Sounds like an excellent idea.

In the UK the politicians interfere with education, health, justice, defence, and morals. - Hence the reason why the UK is badly managed and gradually disintegrating.
All these institutions are being ruined by puerile and ignorant party ideologies such as Liberal, socialist and of course the 1960's style hippies - the Green party.

We used to have a Conservative Party in Westminster but today it is more Liberal and feeble than Right Wing.

So there is nobody worth voting for in Britain today!!

Thanks Frank! We do not make "good money" by societal standards, yet we lack for absolutley nothing. We have given up much only to find that where are treasures are, there our hearts are also; it's just difficult to see that when you need a newer phone, a new tablet, TV, restaurant diets, entertainment... We have simplified and downsized only to find we overflow with blessings. God never buys that which He does not pay for. I would encourage families of one to many to do whatever you can to keep Mom at home raising those eternal souls. It's no one elses job and when you give your family to His plan, it WILL ultimatley be blessed beyond your understanding! We currently homeschool 4 with 3 in the wings. God makes it successful.

Or are the minions you so desperatley need to keep pushing the agenda of Satan being loosed from your monetary grip? Huh.
Yes sister I agree with you as well. "If at all possible" Christians should home school their children. Public schools are not a place where they can learn Christian values. And as you know better than me, young children are very impressionable.

A lot of the time, this isn't done because you have both parents working, ostensibly to attain the American dream, whatever that is.
