Pastor Argues That Defunding Planned Parenthood Could Hurt Churches
A pastor in Kentucky is arguing against a state effort to defund Planned Parenthood, alleging that this effort could end up taking funds away from Christian organizations as well.
According to LifeNews.com, Pastor Derek L. Penwell argues in a column for The Courier-Journal that Kentucky House Bill 149 could have the unintended consequence of restricting funds from churches and ministries. He gives this example:
‚ÄúA pregnant young woman comes to my office. After a period of counseling with me, she goes out and gets an abortion. Could it be argued that, though circumstantial, the young woman‚Äôs act, so close in proximity to our counseling session, can be construed as my having promoted or encouraged abortion?‚ÄĚ...
"No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.‚ÄĚ Lk16:13
Although Penwell purportedly is trying to advocate on behalf of churches, his argument is a covert endorsement of abortion and Planned Barrenhood.

10He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. 11If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? 12And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own? Lk16
Mt6:21For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 22The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. 23But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! 24No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.
I agree Dave, this fellow is a hireling or better said a peanut! The below is a link to the actual bill in question. IMO, it still allows for abortions and simply leaves it up to the doctor in many cases. A headache could turn into a migraine and a migraine into a brain tumor.
Now since the life of the mother is always under consideration, let me post the following once again. This is just in case Jim from Lincoln may be lurking around somewhere.
"When the life of the mother is truly threatened by her pregnancy, if both lives cannot simultaneously be saved, then saving the mother’s life must be the primary aim. If through our careful treatment of the mother’s illness the pre-born patient inadvertently dies or is injured, this is tragic and, if unintentional, is not unethical and is consistent with the pro-life ethic. But the intentional killing of an unborn baby by abortion is never necessary."
Ezekiel 34: (2) ...Thus saith the Lord GOD unto the shepherds; Woe be to the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves! should not the shepherds feed the flocks? (3) Ye eat the fat, and ye clothe you with the wool, ye kill them that are fed: but ye feed not the flock. (4) The diseased have ye not strengthened, neither have ye healed that which was sick, neither have ye bound up that which was broken, neither have ye brought again that which was driven away, neither have ye sought that which was lost; but with force and with cruelty have ye ruled them. (8) As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely because my flock became a prey, and my flock became meat to every beast of the field, because there was no shepherd, neither did my shepherds search for my flock, but the shepherds fed themselves, and fed not my flock; (10) … Behold, I am against the shepherds; and I will require my flock at their hand…
The commments are right on. Reminds me of yet another Proverb "This is the way of an adultress: she eats and wipes her mouth and says 'I've done nothing wrong.'" (30:20) It seem like truly we have come to the point where sound teaching, doctrines and reasoning have been traded for insanity.
(TMC) Said in plainer terms: "Don't stop confiscating money to pay for killing little babies- I might not get my cut!" Disgusting!
I must have missed the command to take from Ceaser whatever he gives you from his stash of pilfered goods. He who pays the piper calls the tune, and the last thing any Church should want is the government dictating the hymns.
Here's an idea- don't let the government fund anything aside from the Military and actual operating costs. As Davy Crockett once noted, "It's not (their's) to give"!
YUP! I had another _____ "elder" tell me lately that Satan did Job a favor by murdering his children, putting them in heaven early. So in the same way Planned Parenthood is doing us all and the aborted souls a favor by murdering them in the womb, putting them in heaven so we don't have to waste our time preaching and hoping they get saved after being born anymore. Satan and planned parenthood did us all a favor!! (according to these kinds of demented heretics anyways).
No, no; Pastor Penwell has a legitimate point. He has put the spiritual life and health of a mother and the life of her baby on one scale and his thirty pieces of silver on the other; and his scales tipped in favor of the silver.
God's challenge to him and his flock in Malachi is not working. He would take a salary cut if Kentucky defund PPH.
If your message to pregnant women is so unclear that it could be misconstrued as promoting abortion.....you had better think twice about your vocation. And if you have to use the state's money to run a church program you have no reason to be running that program . God provides for legitimate ministry . Render to Ceasar what is Ceasar's
