Study: Social Media Making People Anti-Social, Jealous
The social media boom continues to make it easier than ever to stay in touch with loved ones in real time. But with the flourishing of new technology and the ability to be connected to anyone and everyone at any time, real-life human interactions could be suffering a heavy blow.

A recent global study conducted by Kasperksy Lab reveals that social media users are interacting less face-to-face than in the past because of this newfound ability to constantly communicate and stay in touch online. In the study, researchers found that about one-third of people communicate less with their parents (31%), partners (23%), children (33%) and friends (35%) because they can simply follow them on social media. This may be doing more harm than good, in a world where editing one’s life to make it appear perfect is more appealing than naturally existing. ...

We need to worry about it but, if we stop and think: what are we doing on social media?
Trying to live some lives we do not have and make our friends think we're better than them.
Its hard to believe we're becoming more anti-social and jealous because of our actions.

People end up trying to show what is not on the other side of the screen, but should we care? What are we in the making? Can this cause problems in our social life?

Every day we get more antisocial, according to the friend rubens commented.

That's why I stopped using Facebook for quite some time. People just want to show off and criticize everything based on your political beliefs.
It became boring and time consuming.

I've seen other articles saying the constant use of smartphones makes people less able to communicate face to face. At restaurants you can see people working on their phones more than talking. And then they take pictures of the food they are eating.
I think the first poster is correct in that they are time stealers, esp. facebook where you have to keep up a page with your interests. Everyone has hobbies, but do we need to create an 'online presence' to show everyone what they are?

Anne - "Ahem... "Making" people? Or is it simply a vehicle in which our depravity is more readily visible? A snowflake would contend a fork makes us fat. Of course, this is meant to take the responsibility off the individual, make it something you are a victum of and thereby you can be treated for it without having to be held responsible for your actions - whatever they be. We would do well to remeber there are no idle words spoken."

Excellent insight into the matter, well said
That is the goal, to 'victimize' everyone and everything - no accountability whatsoever. It is as the Satanic bible teaches, 'do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law'....
