We Will Not Pray For Donald Trump By Name Because He Is A 'Trauma Trigger' Says Christian Minister
An Episcopal church in California in the US has stated it will not pray for Donald Trump by name.
This is because the name of Trump is considered to be a "trauma trigger" - and a risk to health and safety.
It is traditional in Anglican churches worldwide to pray for a nation's leaders. Church of England parishes regularly pray for the Queen and Episcopal churches in the US pray for the President and the Government.
"We are in a unique situation in my lifetime where we have a president elect whose name is literally a trauma trigger to some people – particularly women and people who, because of his words and actions, he represents an active danger to health and safety, says Mike Kinman, Rector of All Saints Pasadena in his blog....

Sorry Jim, all it shows is you agree with Mencken, i.e. your disdain for the people, which attitude is why Trump was nominated in the first place. People like you made him electable. Congratulations.

(TMC) Historical note: Menken was a blasphemous jerk and proud of it. Bryan was a Progressive Democrat with a Messiah complex and a massive champion of Worker’s Unions and Statist Social Programs- rather like the soon to be former President. @Jim Lincoln Looking forward to hearing all your long pent-up criticisms of Obama tomorrow afternoon! @Johnny Foreigner Not all States require Party Registration. Our political parties are private institutions and set the rules state by state. The downside to non-registration is that you can have a bunch of Democrats or Liberal Independents try to influence your party’s Primary and get a weak candidate nominated.
You has something against the writer of the Christian Post article as well? ]] http://tinyurl.com/zvbgx78 (Trump's Offer to Christians Is Same Offer Devil Made Christ)?
Anyway Mike:
"Ad hominem (Latin for "to the man" or "to the person"[1]), short for argumentum ad hominem, is a logical fallacy in which an argument is rebutted by attacking the character, motive, or other attribute of the person making the argument, or persons associated with the argument, rather than attacking the substance of the argument itself.[2]"---https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem
The New York Times commentary can stand on its own no matter who said it. It's an accurate commentary on the soon to be, ]]President Trump.
Let us pray that they will repent, believe in action and word, and obey God.
1 Timothy 2:2-4 2 Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. 3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Explain what ad hominem there is in pointing out that someone who promotes what God calls abomination cannot be a Christian, which he maintains he is, i.e. Tony Campolo? Why is this truth denier given credibility just because Jim agrees with him about Trump?
Time is short, Jim. Maybe that's why the extra flurry of posts today? Relax, you aren't going to convince a single soul anyway, especially quoting athiests and anti Christian "Christians." Grab a cup of coffee, put your feet up, and think about how you're going to render to your new Caesar.
This question is a general one, not directed at Jim specifically.
Why is it that some Christians in the USA get really het up about 501 c 3 registration by churches but don't bat an eyelid at having to register their own political allegiances to prequalify for a vote?
JF, most of my posts today were done from my "trusty" Android tablets, I don't catch all the capitalizationd that Google does but shouldn't or doesn't but should. JF, Dr. Rugh is an excellent Bible teacher (It can be seen on how many times he agrees with John MacArther. )For your enlightment:
Dr. Rugh wrote: I once read an article by a Christian leader who refused to believe that God could be involved in the establishing of ungodly governments. According to this man, God tolerates unjust governments but He does not place them in power. This leads to an interesting question — Does God appoint all leaders and governments, even wicked ones?
In spite of this man’s strong feelings, the Bible is clear that God directly establishes every government in power. For example:
• "There is no authority except from God" (Romans 13:1).
• "Submit yourselves to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority, or to governors as sent by him" (1 Peter 2:13-14).
• "And it is He who changes the times and the epochs; He removes kings and establishes kings" (Daniel 2:21).

H. L. Mencken wrote: It is inaccurate to say that I hate everything. I am strongly in favor of common sense, common honesty, and common decency. This makes me forever ineligible for public office.
No one in this world has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people. Nor has anyone ever lost public office thereby.
The urge to save humanity is almost always a false front for the urge to rule.
Under democracy, one party always devotes its chief energies to trying to prove that the other party is unfit to rule - and both commonly succeed, and are right.

"If people just looked..."
I did look at your NY Times article about old white men. And not at all surprised it was Tony Campolo, who doesn't like being called evangelical,(which is ok, he's not) and who "calls for acceptance of gay Christian couples in the church."
Fascinating what some are willing to promote while still falsely playing Christian. Is it an "independent" thing to back them?

The above verse I used in another thread, and it is fitting here as well.
John, Democrat, eh. I'm a registered Independent. You'll find probably the majority here thinks the Republican Party is the party of God - - but really the party of the Catholic church in many cases. This makes it anything but the party of God.

Any TV is running a four-hour program 2 hours last night and 2 hours tonight about the divided States of America. It's an interesting program but still runs along even being divided up. You'll probably find it at the same place on the internet as you'll find, \
What is a pity is your unwillingness to connect the dots between the divided States of America, and your long time defense of your Caesar who did all he could to make it that way.

It is indeed a pity. Personally, I'm a democrat and that involves more than voting every four years. It involves the free flow of debate and exchange of ideas and viewpoints. That's the idea of democratic accountability. And accountability involves, when necessary, criticism.

PBS is doing a good job on this, the videos are usually viewable with mobile devices too, So, you can watch all three programs there I would think, these are part of the "Front line" programs if memory serves. This is something like part two of my previous slightly mangled message.
