Top Divinity Schools: Use Gender-Neutral Language to Refer to God

The divinity schools at Duke and Vanderbilt Universities have instructed their professors to start using more “inclusive” language when referring to God because the masculine pronouns “have served as a cornerstone of the patriarchy.” For example: This year’s divinity course catalogue at Vanderbilt tells professors to give “consistent attention to the use of inclusive language, especially in relation to the Divine,” because the school “commits continuously and explicitly to include gender as an analyzed category and to mitigate sexism.” ...

This is one of the things the devil does best. Corrupt the creation signs that God has put into place to signify spiritual truths.(Rom 1:20). Man represents God/Christ especially in the marriage relationship. The woman represents the Church. The two become one flesh and the normal result is new life/baby is born. The spiritual truth is Christ and a believer (the Church) become one by complete faith in Christ and the result is new life (born again). The fact is that sexual perversion, gender changing, feminism, and these idiots not referring to God as He is from Hell. The devil can't corrupt spiritual truths so "it" goes after the physical signs distorting their meanings and God's order.

Good morning Saint Mike,

I think I get your point about saying that God is not male. In our experience, being male implies the need for a female. (Else, what good is being male?) Yet we cannot say of God that He has ever had need of anything. Also, If we call Him male (what we think of as male), might we tend to create a caricature of God in our own image - one that belies His otherness.

Having said that, however, it is best to let God reveal Himself to us in His word, and He has consistently used the masculine to do that.

Liberal "Christianity" chafes against God as He presents Himself in the scriptures. One of the ways they attempt to de-throne Him is by decrying the scriptures as "patriarchal." You may remember the ]]"Re-Imagining Conference" in which a bunch of ]]feminists came together to worship the feminine side of God. Obviously, ]]Sophia worship is extreme, but I think it is a big part of the consistent attack we see on the masculinity of God.

God bless you, brother!

So God created man in
his
own image, in the image of God created
he
him;
male and female created
he
them.
Gen1:27

Male "he" is God's reference to Himself
before
the creation on man-
Male in humanity is an "image of God "
Seems a reference to "authority" as primary -
And in Eternity-
Father, Son , and Holy Ghost carry that male reference

1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve
him:
4 And they shall see his face; and
his
name shall be in their foreheads.
5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
6 And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.

Hello Bro. Mike!
Great question. I'm not sure that I had ever considered it. The Bible teaches that Jesus in His incarnation was made "a little lower than the angels". So mankind is lower than the angels; angels are greater than we are. So I see a hierarchy there...

We sure don't want to ascribe to angels the authority that belongs to God. But, angels (as God's messengers / representatives) speak with the authority of God Himself. Christians, as well, speak with the authority of God Himself when we speak Biblical truth.
What are your thoughts?
I agree with your thoughts on this, bro Rodney. The authority hierarchy does reach down even to us dust in the wind types. And that authority is given in the masculine form, which is God's design. If I also said God is not male, would that make sense?

I agree fully with your logic brother. It really isn't much of a mystery. Only those who don't adhere to male leadership and authority would debate such a thing.
He is spirit and He is my heavenly Father!

Hope all is well with you and your family.

God is a Spirit:
and they that worship
him
must worship
him
in spirit and in truth.

John 4
Context

22 Ye worship ye know not what:
we know what we worship:
for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is,
when the true worshippers shall worship
the Father
in spirit and in truth:
for the Father
seeketh such to worship
him.
--
Gill - on SA - has an extended take ;
"Verse 24. God is a spirit,.... Or "the Spirit is God"; a divine person, possessed of all divine perfections, as appears from his names, works, and worship ascribed unto him; See Gill on "Joh 4:23"; though the Arabic and Persic versions, and others, read as we do, "God is a spirit"; that is, God, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost: for taking the words in this light, not one of the persons is to be understood exclusive of the other; for this description, or definition, agrees with each of them, and they are all the object of worship, and to be worshipped in a true and spiritual manner. God is a spirit, and not a body, or a corporeal substance: the nature and essence of God is like a spirit, simple and uncompounded, not made up of parts; nor is it divisible; nor does it admit of any change and alteration...."

I get your gist bro Mike, but our Father in heaven.
Though in technicality you could put forward a convincing debate

Papers: Jesuits Were Warned About Abusive Priest / NPR
October 29, 2007

Father Donald McGuire sexually abused two teenaged boys in the 1960s. That much is public record: He was convicted in a criminal trial last year.
As recently as nine weeks ago, Jesuit leaders insisted that they had no knowledge of any other abuse by the renowned priest. But documents show that over the past 38 years, Jesuit leaders were alerted many times about McGuire's behavior — even as criminal and civil cases were under way. That raises the question: What happened to those records?
"They either destroyed documents relevant to criminal activity, or they lied," said Marc Pearlman, an attorney for several

By way of a PS . . the sharing of the Article: The Gay Jesuits / 3/9/201
http//voxcantor.blogspot.com/2015/03/the-gay-jesuits.html
Vox Cantoris – a Catholic's Blog - Excerpt: Confessions of a Gay Jesuit

was done for the express purpose of:

exposing the "spiritual wickedness in high places" (Eph. 6:12)

namely the Roman Catholic hierarchy, and the unchecked gross immorality that pervades

the Roman Catholic priesthood,

and that which is so graphically described by a former Jesuit priest.

The article was posted Catholic blogger in Toronto Canada to shine the light in this very dark place, and has been greatly maligned by the gay mafia within his "church" for so doing.

It should be noted as well that those straight priests who have exposed & denounced the homosexual priesthood, have been ostracized, demonized and defrocked,
while the homosexual effeminate priests remain.

A Case in point . .
Silenced Priest Warns of Gay Crisis / The Washington Times [Arlington VA] / November 15, 2004

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2004/nov/15/20041115-124042-2061r/

Fact: according to their own experts - re: Roman Catholic clergy abuse,
“80% of the abuse was of a homosexual nature.”

Is. 5:21
“Woe to them that call evil good and good evil."

"start using more “inclusive” language when referring to God because the masculine pronouns “have served as a cornerstone of the patriarchy."

These are obviously people who are not acquainted with God and who do not have the gift of God that is faith.

Why do these reprobates pretend to understand the Scriptures??

John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent."

Jer 9:23 Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:
24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD"

1John 4:6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error."
