Pastor heckles kids at TX mall: ‘There is no Santa!’

Pastor Dave Grisham filmed himself Saturday standing in an Amarillo, Texas mall and heckling children as they waited in line to meet Santa.

He walked up to the line of families waiting to meet Santa and announced, “Kids, I want to tell you today that there is no such thing as Santa Claus. Santa Claus does not exist.”

“Parents, y’all need to stop lying to your children and telling them that Santa Claus is real, when in fact, he’s not.

“When you substitute the lies of Santa Claus in heart of your child for the truth of Jesus Christ, you are bearing false witness against God,” he declared. ...

Thanks for the text. It reminds me of a booklet I read by Ian Paisley entitled: The Heart of The Problem is The Problem of The Heart.

Yep, that's where all the deals are done.

2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV
(17) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

I'm right glad to share comments on this with someone who thinks the same way. Yes, real Christianity is a heart religion.

Ezekiel 11:19-21 KJV
(19) And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:
(20) That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.
(21) But as for them whose heart walketh after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their own heads, saith the Lord GOD.

Ezekiel 36:26-27 KJV
(26) A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
(27) And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

]]Pharisee vs Sinner

verse 13, "the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me,"
now in the Bible it says, "a sinner."

I know why the Bible put here "a sinner"
Vs a definite article
-we would be confused if the publican said "(The )"sinner."

As this publican is NOT the only sinner-
"This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief."
1Tim1:15

The godly sees himself as the publican "a sinner"-not the ONLY one in reality- and some are chief sinners- like Paul who had been a "a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee:"
Ac23:6
Phi3:5"Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;"
this LITERALLY blind Pharisee was healed-
"Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also"mt23:26
Became clear to him- &he was cleansed within

genuine spiritual prosperity ... non-prosperity
the NT blueprint
Thanks for your edifying and earnest comment
Definitively, the 'soul's prosperity' is such a tremendous topic, because it denotes our soul's *health* as it were, which does not necessarily depend on the measure of doctrinal correctness we personally adhere to per se.
Head knowledge alone does not change our speech, attitudes, actions or choices, it is the heart.
When the heart is *healthy*, the whole being starts functioning aright.

"A good man *out of the good treasure of his heart*
brings forth that which is good"

May you be used of God in the way Philip the evangelist was.

May you be able to identify His guidance.
Have a blessed time.
Identifying his guidance is much simpler than I thought. Ah, but the flesh sometimes rebels against his will. As soon as I realised this, things got better.

Slotting in to his will brings prosperity; not that charis prosperity of financial gain, but a genuine spiritual prosperity and a bringing forth of fruit to his glory.

Psalms 1:3 KJV
(3) And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

What I find remarkable is the proneness of a child of God to go astray, as the hymn writer put it:

Prone to wander, Lord I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love

It doesn't make any sense, yet I have found it true, and it always leads to non-prosperity.

Regarding the NT blueprint, I once wrote several long tracts about what I called The Acts 8:4 Preachers - unordained, untaught, yet great church planters.

Bro, it is a great joy when there is a small group working together on evangelism, especially tracting. This is why I am going to write a page on the blog inviting others to join in from time to time, have some prayer together, compare notes, and so on. If it helps any, I have always been quite shy, and have to give myself a big push; but when the Lord is there, and the Spirit is flowing within like a mighty river, it all seems so easy somehow. When talking to people on the street, words appear from nowhere (it seems) and I know the Lord is giving all needed help, just as he promised to do, all those years ago. Nothing premeditated, just the Spirit giving the words at the time.

God bless your own work bro, and grant you helpers also.

Brother Mike, oh yes. At the end of the year the market manager asks who will be returning the next year. So I said I wouldn't be coming back. I'll still do a bit of painting, and put them in shops and galleries where others can sell them. But my focus is now on fishing for men, going county wide with my tracts, to let people know God loves them and that Jesus died for the ungodly.

That is a big basket full of encouragement, sister. Thank you. I since found out that the spot I picked is also used by the growing Kingdom Hall. I'll be in their black book now.
But I'll be there again on Saturday with the Light.

Prayer was offered this morning for the fishers of men. Trust you had your net cast in the right side of the boat as it were.
Almost every one of us in some measure has been gifted with the gift of language according to God's purposeful giving, and yours seems significant for its simplicity and logical, down to earth talk, which makes it really suitable for witnessing in the streets.
May the words of life be in our lips always as Havergal expressed in her poem: 'Take my lips ..."

Tell me, you make being born again observer pagan style sound so fulfilling with the football games, booze, shopping and Chaldean traditions. How can I say no? My flesh says follow Observer, she knows whats best. So, What must I do to be a pagan like yourself? My college didn't even have a football team, and I have no clue which team is pagan righteous, and which is pagan evil. How do I choose? The cheerleaders with the skimpiest outfits? Team colours? The ones with the rowdiest fans? And how about booze, what is the cool pagan drink to enjoy a football game with? What wine? beer? I don't want to be laughed at by my fellow pagans who also are trying to pretend to be Christian like you. How about Chaldean pagan traditions? I have nothing to dress up a tree with. What pagan store can I go purchase such items? Yule logs, trees, mistletoe?

Thank you all for your good wishes.

Seems to me that there are 3 views being presented in this thread, and all others:

1. The true gospel, which gives true freedom and power over sin through the Holy Spirit

2. The false gospel of Rome which ensnares and damns millions to hell, and lastly

3. The pharisee gospel of rules and regulations trying to bring people back to bondage because we have not been freed from sin and have no power over it and therefore need minute regulations from the most vocal who will hold us all to account, never mind that the bible says we are all only accountable to the Lord in matters indifferent.

In the first there is real joy and happiness and eternal salvation.

The second, if we may judge by its proponents, produces the bliss of ignorance and in apologetics the bile of the devil himself. The first exemplified by both JY and SteveR, the 2nd by SteveR .

The third, like socialism, produces an equal sharing of misery with the most fervent doing the dishing out of the misery by the perpetual invention of rules they consider essential to their form of godliness which denies the power of the gospel.

To those who know the Lord in truth and promote #1, may the Lord bless your efforts!

SteveR, son of Belial - YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN!
