Retiring Archbishop of Wales delivers parting shot to conservatives: Bible can support gay marriage

The Archbishop of Wales has argued that taking the Bible seriously can lead to supporting same-sex marriage as he defended his acceptance of LGBT relationships.

Dr Barry Morgan, who will retire in January, used his last address to the governing body of the Church in Wales on Wednesday to deliver a parting shot to conservative critics who said he had been "swayed by the liberal culture of our age" and "ignored Holy Scripture".

He argued the Bible had more than one view on LGBT relationships as the authors' stances evolved. He said it was necessary to look at the texts as a whole, and especially at the ministry of Jesus, to understand God's will. ...

This guy sounds like someone else in Scripture- "...Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Casting doubt on what is written by God seems pretty status quo these days.

Morgan is obviously under demonic influence or he would not believe that homosexuality is condoned in the Bible.

"Given that each of the passages purported to be about homosexuality can be interpreted in more than one way, we come to the fundamental question as to whether taking the Bible as a whole, we can come to the same conclusions about committed, faithful, loving, same-sex relationships as we did about slavery.”

The answer to the above quoted question is NO.

"We are not thereby abandoning the Bible but trying to interpret it in a way that is consistent with the main thrust of the ministry of Jesus, who went out of His way to minister to those who were excluded, marginalised, and abandoned by His society because they were regarded as impure and unholy by the religious leaders of His day, either because of their gender, age, morality or sexuality. Taking Holy Scripture seriously means paying attention to Jesus' ministry of inclusivity."

Christ never condoned homosexuality or any other sin; not once. I would minister to them by telling them to repent and believe. Would this fellow say the same thing about a pedophile or someone who practiced incest or bestiality?

“The Archbishop concluded his address by quoting from Amazing Love, a book that urged Christians to embrace LGBT relationships.”

That would be loving the world which we are commanded not to do.

I happened to be a student in Bangor, N Wales, in the 1970s when the Revd Barry Morgan was the Anglican Chaplain to the then University College of North Wales, part of the multi campus University of Wales.

The Anglican chaplaincy was a residential hall of residence, and served both as a chaplaincy for Anglican students in the university, and also a centre for Anglican ordinands for the first half of their ordination training, while they did a theology degree in the university, and before they they did their 2nd half of training based in a full blown Anglican theological college.

There were however a number of lay students of both sexes who stayed there, and radically for those days that included a lesbian couple.

Theologically radical speakers were often invited to speak at the chapel there, and it was a very liberal atmosphere.

I had a friend who was an evangelical ordinand there, and he was very glad to finish his course there, and move on to a fully evangelical Anglican theological college

This kind of gymnastics with the Bible has been going on for years, and it is very tragic. To explain the Anglican Church of Wales is totally separate from the Church of England, has no state establishment at all, and the Archbishop or Primate of Wales, is also Bishop of one

From article:
"The Archbishop of Wales has argued that taking the Bible seriously can lead to supporting same-sex marriage as he defended his acceptance of LGBT relationships."

Liberalism is the religion of the Anglican/Episcopalian church.

As can be seen in the statement above of one of their "archbishops" - The Liberals DO NOT take the Bible seriously.

Or to put it another way - They do not take GOD seriously!!

Why these people call themselves "Christian" (A Christ follower) I just don't know. They are so far from the truth and obedience of it that they can only be described at best as "Religious Reprobates."

All Liberals, Anglicans, Episcopalians, PCUSA, Roman Catholics and JW's serve the same master - Satan!!

Lev 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Rom 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another"

People can make the Bible say anything, but that doesn't make it so. I don't think God could make it anymore clear that he hates sodomy.

So, a collected document from 7,000 to 2,000 years ago, which is drawn up exclusively by Jewish writers, interweaves a narrative that sodomite's were a respected cultural people group with whom the Jewish community accepted and encouraged the taking and giving to marriage. Anglicans are an unorthodoxed dead church that now sells wickedness, which there will be a reckoning.

I have always been amused by those who say "there are no absolute truths", and I wonder why they have never been struck with the logical impossibility of that statement.

If that statement were true, then that statement itself would be an absolute truth, thereby making the statement false.

There are absolute truths and we will find them in God's Word. One being, "He made them male and female".

After reading through the entire article, I think it's interesting that he didn't provide one bit of scripture. Neither did he mention the passages which speak to God's abhorrence of unnatural acts. Another spokesperson for Satan, willingly duped into believing the unthinkable because of his own personal bias, twisting and distorting God's Word to accomplish his goal. What's even worse is that he is misleading others and he'll be given an extra helping of eternal suffering for that if he doesn't wise up.

The archbishop of Wales was in that position under false pretences. HE MUST BE BORN AGAIN.

And that new birth will not be by his will, or the will of his parents, his genealogy. The new birth is only ever by the will of God.

Matthew 7:21-23King James Version (KJV)

21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

John MacArthur said or, wrote:
We live in a world that, for the most part, has no absolute standard for life and behavior. We are under a system of morality by majority vote—in other words, whatever feels right sets the standard for behavior.

That philosophy, however, runs contrary to everything we know about our world. For example, in science there are absolutes. Our entire universe is built on fixed laws. We can send satellites and other spacecraft into space and accurately predict their behavior. Science—whether biology, botany, physiology, astronomy, mathematics, or engineering—is controlled by unalterable and inviolable laws.

Yet in the moral world many people want to live without laws or absolutes. They try to determine their points of reference from their own minds. However, that is impossible. When we move from the physical to the spiritual realm, fixed laws still exist. We cannot exist without laws in the moral and spiritual dimensions of life any more than we can do so in the physical dimension. Our Creator built morality into life. Just as there are physical laws, so there are spiritual laws. Let me give you an example.
