Gold Medalist Brianna Rollins: 'I Want to be Known as the Athlete Who Glorified God’
A trio of American sprinters swept the 110-meter hurdles final Wednesday night during the Olympics, but it was the post-race interview that many TV viewers will remember.

Brianna Rollins won the gold medal with a time of 12.48 seconds, while teammates Nia Ali (12.59) and Kristi Castlin (12.61) captured the silver and bronze, respectively. It was the first Olympics since 1972 that a country had swept the event.

Rollins, who often uses her social media platform to discuss her Christian faith, didn't waste time giving credit to God during a post-race interview with NBC that involved all three medalists.

They prayed, she said, that God would "just help us come out here and continue to glorify Him and do the best that we can and that's what we did." ...

I am late posting and did not read article so I do not know what she believes about God. I will say that if she wants to glorify God then stop competing in what looks like undergarments. The women at the games were minimally covered. I honestly do not understand a godly man watching the games. I am a woman and refused to watch it because of the lewdness. Next the women will be competing naked. They're uniforms have gotton more indecent over the years. The West is looking more and more like ancient Rome.

Yep, the mind amd body becomes addicted to them so getting off is difficult. Another trap is Methadone and Suboxone treatment for opiate addicts. The drugs do their job keeping them from getting sick and eliminating any withdrawal symptoms, but getting off either of these is far more difficult than weaning off the original drug of choice and suffering through their own withdrawel symptoms for a time.
They're all traps.

The depression epidemic is fueled by big pharma. Their meds cause depression. The same pills that relieve for a short time, increase the underlying depression.

I know lots of people that can't get off them once they start and the longer they use them the worse their depression gets

In my own life it has been a constant reminder to me of my own frailty and utter dependence on the Lord for all needed strength, joy etc. and I have learned to live on God's promises totally divorced of my "feelings". That in itself is a very precious thing.
You need to think straight, but you are not likely to do that whilst you're actually depressed. You're probably right now stuck on that mental hamster wheel where thoughts just go round and round and there seems no way out.
Irrespective of the type of depression, these seasons of the soul are ideal opportunities to draw close to God in a way that others may never know.
Still praying for you.
Carl, if you're reading this, please let us know how you're doing.
Excellent advice, Observer.

There's mine as well, and you seemed to miss Observer's original comment and offer.
When I mentioned telling others, I didn't mean telling your woes to everyone you meet, of course. But just having one person who truly cares about you who will simply listen so you can unload when necessary, can give some relief. Dealing with especially severe depression without a single person on planet earth knowing is a lonely, dangerous existance. Unless they've been through the same, they can't possibly grasp the pain, but you can explain the best you can for their support. Fake smiles are painful and trying to act normal so people don't perceive you as either miserable or stuck up, etc, is exhausting. So is going through life being emotionally numb, so do what you can to address this now. I would strongly advise you to contact Observer because he has close to a centurys worth of knowledge, experience, and relavant biblical and extranneous knowledge on the topic.
Kiddiing about the centurys worth. : )

Connor, praying for you. You've been given some sound, seasoned advice.

Y'all continue to reach out and pray for Carl. Stumbled upon a comment by him earlier that was heart breaking. He appears to be having a hard time. I won't say more than that and hope I haven't overstepped the boundaries. Carl, if you're reading know we're praying for you!

Hey Connor I think this should pass for you Brother. If you ask me you are in a tough stage of life in your young 20's and trying to find your path in life. After you get a little older and more along your walk in life things won't be so uncertain for you. At least this is how it was for me when I was younger. Like brother Observer said I too have never seen a passage in the bible that would limit you. Matter of fact the beatitudes don't really describe someone who is content in this world. I'll pray for you Brother.

Kalispera Andrea, yes another good-worded song of praise to the Lord, thank you. I don't have any CD's of music except the full set of Psalms sung by different cathedral choirs all over England; they are very special and a good source of spiritual input. But they don't sound too good through my laptop tinny speakers, with those great cathedral organs playing bass notes that make the building shake. So actually I have to rely on YouTube for all other music, and I don't always have the download speed to play them.

God bless you and all your friends in Athens. The Lord is coming for his blood-bought people.

Greetings Sister Andrea! Glad to see you back!

There is great irony in modern life.

He stands there on his manicured lawn, after dropping phosphates on the grass to kill the dandelions, the glyphophates that create kidney issues

and he swears at God, "Why, oh why God, have you scourged me with this kidney pain with no way to help myself?"

says the man standing on the lawn that once had dandelions growing.

I am soo confused and burdened with depression, every week, and I don't understand why. I've tried soo hard to do right and to follow Jesus, I beg you to pray for me, I really do need it.
And pray for Carl, I haven't seen him post recently, he struggles as well.
Hey Connor

I have been a sufferer from my early teens and understand exactly what you're going through.

Feel free to write me if you're so inclined.

There is a lot to understand about Depression - the various kinds etc and it is important to know from someone who is a sufferer. I know folk mean well when they say about not keeping it to yourself but tell others etc. BUT to tell the truth, it is extremely hard to do that because one does not want to become the centre of attention and also talking or indeed being in company does not take away the feelings of loneliness and depression!

Some grow out of it never to experience it ever again, and others suffer intermittently and yet others are allowed to walk in darkness all their days. You may ask why? The Lord is Sovereign and knows best how to draw us all to himself. If that ain't a good enough reason, I don't know what is.

Anyways, praying for you and for Carl.

Lord bless.

Andrea, this was a very personal experience for Pastor Murray as it was his wife who suffered from depression.
His lecture is quite profitable and practical.
He also has written a book on this subject, which has been a benefit to many.

Blessings to you also.
