President Obama squandered no time in killing legislation that would have largely defunded the country's No. 1 abortion provider.
The president vetoed Friday (Jan. 8) a budget-related bill that would have cut nearly 90 percent of federal money in the next year for the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and its affiliates. The legislation also would have essentially gutted the controversial 2010 health-care law opposed by nearly all pro-life organizations.
Obama, a strong backer of both Planned Parenthood and the health-care law, had promised to veto the legislation. He followed through only two days after the House of Representatives approved the bill, titled the Restoring Americans' Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act....

I don't have any idea what race has to do with this article, nor why you would want to bring it up.

God hates ecumenism. You cannot expect God to bless amorphis movements and coalitions that yoke up the people of God with the enemies of the Gospel, no matter what the cause. (2 Chron. 19:2) That's why all these efforts to "save our culture" have failed over the last 40 years or so. That being said, this does not mean that Christians stay quiet in the public square. Those who cry out against Christian Activism are often those who don't even lift a finger to hand out a tract or stand on a busy street corner reproving sin and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I agree that the answers will never be found in any politician or political party. But if Christians are not publicly warning against and reproving sin and wickedness in government, the church, academia, the media, entertainment and society at large , both individually and collectively, then who will. This we do without leaving the rest undone. Christians need to throw out their brazen serpents and read their bibles, and get balanced.

Romney attacked religious liberties (and kids) by ordering pro-life hospitals to dispense the abortion pill - as the father of homosexual marriage Mitt Romney single-handedly ordered county clerks to issue homosexual marriage licenses - Romney later lied claiming that a court ordered him to institute gay marriage; we've offered $10,000 for someone to produce that court order - Romney horrifically ordered adoption agencies to place children with homosexuals, literally chasing charities out of his state - Romney attacked religious liberties far more aggressively than anything that Obama has done - RomneyCare has the dreaded "individual mandate
Oh & "version of the Bible? " is that the Book of Mormon? Or the Book of Doctrine and Covenants ? the Pearl of Great Price?

Bernard, it is interesting that the European conservatives have enough sense not to touch social welfare programs. the Republicans are certainly getting some blame for making a mess of Obamacare! Mike, what is the problem pointing out that the present president can actually read and count. Now, we know the Republican one before him had a hard time doing that. I remember Ralph Ovadal here at S.A. talking on his "Heart of the Matter" broadcast about the danger of linking up with Catholics on the issue of abortion. You should be able to find it here archived. The comments below exchanged about Romney show you why the Democrats stand a good chance to remain in power. All they have to do to get evangelicals to stay home is point out one error/one variation in the Republican candidate's life. For example, if someone's wife is evangelical, maybe the rest of her family and his family are dyed-in-the-wool Catholics all the way back to Spain. That will disqualify that candidate in the eyes of many evangelicals. Oh, and what version of the Bible is he using? If it's not the KJV, then he will get no votes from some evangelicals!
I do see the point of another post here about how things have gotten worse in the culture ever since evangelicals became politically active. I guess a return to the "Good Old Days" is the solution. What were the Good Old Days? the 1950s w/Elvis? Lots of people thought he was the end of Civilization as we know it. I also think that much ado is made of the evangelical voting bloc, as if it were a monolithic, always-voting Republican group. We've already seen in the posts here that is not true.
Phil Johnson wrote: ...America’s moral decline has accelerated dramatically since evangelicals became politically aggressive in the late 1970s....they have been remarkably ineffective when it comes to using politics to reverse America’s moral and spiritual decline. In fact, if you measure their success or failure according to their own stated political ambitions, evangelicals have failed spectacularly in America’s political arena. Over the past quarter-century, they have not accomplished any of their long-term legislative or constitutional goals.
Worst of all, during that same period of time, the evangelical movement has completely lost its spiritual influence, because the evangelical segment of the church has grown increasingly worldly. Evangelicals have become accustomed to compromise. They have abandoned (or else are in the process of abandoning) virtually all the doctrinal distinctives that made them distinct from Roman Catholics and nominal Christians whose faith amounts to a kind of civil religion. Evangelicals have pretty much forfeited whatever real moral and spiritual authority their movement ever had.

Let's see. The president on January 5 puts on the I love children show and the what if we save only one illogic. 3 days later, on January 8, he vetoes a bill to cut funding for planned parenthood. It only took 3 days to come around from the I love children show to the I want more of them to die scenario. Makes you wonder what was used to induce the I love children tears.
Romney? - has been openly funding abortion from the very first day of his RomneyCare which pays for abortion on demand, even late term - attacked religious liberties (and kids) by ordering pro-life hospitals to dispense the abortion pill - the father of homosexual marriage Mitt Romney single-handedly ordered county clerks to issue homosexual marriage licenses - He later lied claiming that a court ordered him to institute gay marriage; we've offered $10,000 for someone to produce that court order - horrifically ordered adoption agencies to place children with homosexuals, literally chasing charities out of his state - Romney attacked religious liberties far more aggressively than anything that Obama has done - RomneyCare has the dreaded "individual mandate" which is what conservatives rightly most hated about ObamaCare - put Planned Parenthood permanently on the "independent" state health board which maintains "free" and/or $50 co-pay abortions - His so-called "exceptions" amount to the killing of tens of thousands of kids violating God's command - supports destructive embryonic research even after his bogus 2004 pro-life conversion
Mighty fine sounding words, but I remember when we last had a chance to elect a pro-life president, many Christians stayed home and did not vote (they said they could not vote for a Mormon). Who knows what will be their excuse this time? Because the guy is a bully, wears a toupe, is very wealthy (that's the "Donald" by the way)? Who knows--the truth is that your vote and my vote count for no more than the guy who just woke up on Election Day from his drunken stupor (whether from 'flakka' or another synthetic drug or plain old alcohol) and goes out to vote, not to mention all the cheating going on at the polls with early elections.
Also note how the media is covering this issue--do they say "Obama vetoed bill to repeal Planned Parenthood funding" or "Obama vetoed bill to defund Obamacare"? Remember that the media is a wing of the Democrat Party, just as most college university professors are Democrats (over 90 percent). What irony--parents are working hard to save money to send their kids to college, where they will be brainwashed by Democrat, liberal professors. Other people will not vote because they can't see the Republicans standing up to the Democrats, and if they do, the media will slant their coverage to make Republicans look stupid, ineffectual, or worse.
By vetoing one bill, Obama has had to come face to face with what the American people really think about ObamaCare and Planned Parenthood, and he responded. This is a monumental moment for the pro-life movement. Although the president vetoed this bill, we are far from pessimistic as this shows the American people ObamaCare is not settled law. This has shone a light on our future and the importance of electing a pro-life president. The moral responsibility was in our president’s hands, and for the first time, we have seen his radical views through action rather than just words. “Regardless of where you stand on abortion, most people are not in favor of forcing Americans to violate their consciences. Our president is forcing taxpayers to fund the nation’s largest abortion provider. This is wrong &will not stand. Concerned Women for America and our half-a-million members are so grateful to the representatives and senators who did their part to not only protect life, but to protect the religious &moral freedoms on which America was founded. We look forward to electing a president who respects life and religious liberty. Did anyone expect him to approve it? And yet the media will continue to support him, as well as Democrats. And don't forget that Hi-Liar-ree is waiting to pick up where he left off, and many people want to see that happen, so that their govt benefit checks are not reduced. Even many high-wage earners want to see that happen because they depend on rich govt consulting contracts.
