You can’t be pro-life and pro-gun?

In the United States, evangelicals are among the biggest supporters of gun rights. They are the major religious group least likely to support stricter laws. Evangelical Larry Pratt, who directs Gun Owners of America, even argues that all Christians should be armed.

For most of my adult life, I agreed. I believed that we had a God-given right to defend ourselves. I also believed that the Second Amendment guarantees a right to bear arms, and that anyone should be able to obtain a gun.

Then, I saw the after-effects of gun violence firsthand. In Pennsylvania, I visited the families of five murdered Amish schoolgirls, as well as the family of the shooter. And I watched as a mass shooting unfolded at the Washington Navy Yard, across from where I lived at the time. These experiences, followed by careful theological and moral reflection, left me convinced that my family of faith is wrong on guns. ...

Sad thing is, if this isn't stifled soon, it could continue into civil strife. Not strife as in manufactured by occupiers of wall st or the racist lives matter outfit, but strife between the power mad and the millions who say you can't have any more. Herding the red areas into the city would take a lot more than can be imagined by those who would attempt it. Of course it is worrisome that there would be Christians who, like the German Christians of 1940, place thumbs in ears, close eyes, and shout la la la la what a good Christian am I.

Three days into 2016 and you've already killed 70 people. That's more than ISIS isn't it?
btw; The total is now 93!!!

From what I hear vegemite is quite the deterrent in USA."

The only vegemite I'm aware of in the US is a small cube being stored for study in a lead lined box, surrounded by kryptonite, and 8' thick adamantium steel walls in an underground military bunker somewhere in the barren deserts of Arizona. Americans are well aware of its dangers and nobody knows where the cube came from. The theory is that your military strapped it to a goose migrating from Australia and used some remote control mechanism to drop it onto American soil to poison us and turn us into zombies.
Vegemite...bad.

For a non-violent response to criminals read the book "Angels Over Waslala" by Pablo Yoder. God is still in the protection business, but if people would rather trust in their pistol I suppose God will let them.

Gday brother Christopher,
All good mate its possible to disagree and remain civil as you have shown, along with bro mike and others on this thread.
I hear your argument, would use whatever means available to protect not only my family but defenceless if I had too, and if I could, I probably would carry a gun for personal protection,
But in scripture, throughout the nt I believe God has called us to be different, apart from the world, he wants us to well ,I can't go past Matt.5:38/48
Luke12:4/5, 3:14. Matt 5:5.
And the example set by Jesus and the apostles , God bless you mate. :-)

The American Indian tribes were treated no differently, as we see a repeat.

can you imagine the media spin today?

ya, we gotta kill off all the buffalo to "save the prairies" (killing off the buffalo destroyed the prairie lands)

and those evil meat eating tribes that roam the land and move with the herds, taking up all that space and having all those children, they are loose with bows and arrows!

what's happening right now is the same and some tribal leaders have even sent out warnings to city americans as such.

Many tribes and ranchers have a vested interest in keeping the land with the people, what goes the rancher and free range farmer also goes the tribal lands..... once the few elitists have the land under UN, it will be traded with China, stripped out for resources and unavailable to the public.

agenda 21 is the new trail of tears, move them to the cities, gm grain (used to be the white flour and blankets with small pox in it) -- no doubt we are seeing a repeat of history.

there are maps that show where these cities will be and where humans will be allowed to travel (within those cities) -- the wildlands not available to them.

anyone see stories of the diamond wores? what happens when a people no longer own their land but the rich come in and a

The West, Christopher, has banned complete countries from having certain weapons. They reserve the right to have those weapons themselves, but deny that right to others. Is this fair?

On banning weapons in the USA, you are allowed to carry a gun but not an Uzzi. Is that fair? Are not your freedoms taken away at a stroke, believing you have freedom but it is only a limited freedom. Do not FreeWillers believe the same?

For example, if you had an elaborate security system for your house, you could arrange to have acid or molten steel pouring down on an intruder just as soon as he entered a window or door. Just like in the old days of castles and moats.

Cowboys had rifles and the Indians had only bows and arrows, so a lot of Indians got killed, until they also got rifles, and then a lot of cowboys got shot as well.

After all, we've only got God, and that doesn't count for much, eh?

Nobody will ever convince me that God doesn't expect us to use the common scense He provided us with to protect our own lives and the lives of others if need be. For those who say this logic means I'm not trusting in God, then next time you, your child or a loved one under your care breaks a bone, will you rush them to get medical attention or bypass common scense and trust that God will take care of it? Same thing in my mind. Another thing nobody will ever convince me of is that I don't believe there's one single person who argues against self protection/preservation who would not react, by any means necessary, to save the life of their child, their self, stop their daughter from being raped, etc, etc. I think it's real easy to sit in the comfort of relative safety and admonish others for choosing to protect themselves until they, themselves become the victims.
