Bible Study Group Combines Faith, Joints

People in a Bible study group in Centennial say they get high to better reach the almighty. They are called the Stoner Jesus Bible Study and they pass on Bible verses and joints.

Group member Mia Williams says, “We are just a bunch of stoners that come together and learn about Jesus and the Word of God.”

Newest member JeTaun Brown says reading the Bible stoned enables people to relax and focus. She says, “I think you have a deeper thought process which makes you better understand.”

Button, who has always been a devout Christian, says he has heard the word of God “over and over and it never clicked (and now) it clicks.” ...

The stoners must be confused about the biblical concepts of the Rock and that which is High-the Rock, having nothing to do with "getting stoned"...(though people with their inclinations/sinners did get stoned in the Bible...but,that was a BAD thing!)
Must be further evidence of twisted, contemporary thinking where up is down, black is white, etc.

what more does anyone need?
From link below conclusion:

"Millions of Observers

Millions of people believe that smoking pot makes you stupid. Yet, while long-term cigarette smoking is bad for your lungs, there are not millions of people whose observations led them to believe that tobacco lowers your IQ and makes you slow and stupid. Why the distinction? These millions of people believe this not because they've read the scientific studies showing lower IQ, mental health, learning, and memory impairments from using pot, but because they've seen the results first hand. Studies conflict, of course, but extensive research shows what millions have directly perceived, that long-term routine pot use leads to serious mental health issues. On the other hand, even a nightly glass of red wine has the opposite reputation, of decreasing the likelihood of dementia, sustaining mental health, and certainly not of making anyone slow or stupid."

Though I would be the total abstinence type pointing out the red wine danger- don't start and you avoid finding out your personal tendency to become a drunk.

As you say, medical use aside, it IS shocking to see acceptance .

Thanks, Top Release...what more does anyone need? Combined with my comments, I really don't see any room for anyone to make arguments for it. Medical use, Yes, but it needs to be controlled much better because it seems anyone can complain of an ache with many doctors and get a prescription. Still astonished that the states around the country are slowly giving in to the lobbys for its recreational use.

At one time I was one of those who partook during bible study because I felt more spiritual. Really, I was just stoned. The bible tells us to be filled with the spirit and that being chemically altered is dissipation. Being more spiritual is something that comes from God alone and isn't something we can force through ritual, chanting or pharmacology. It doesn't bring glory to God or rely solely on the spirit to work. If they are truly seeking God, the Spirit will show them their error. May they follow His leading.

Medical studies are showing a link in casual marijuana use brings about psychosis leading to schizophrenia. Prolonged use eats the white matter of the brain.
So for all the MJ " Christian" cult followers who have experienced the joys of drug use; remember, if you can, It eats your brain, gives you brain damage and makes you crazy. Oh and I forgot, it causes breast growth in men, which for some reason brings a risk of breast cancer. The genetically altered drug is addictive and dangerous. So during the season diners and when a relative drones on about the benefits of this drug, and then gets all ticked off and vitriolic about your correction on the facts of this drug, keep an eye on them. ( I worked in a drug rehabilitation center for a couple of years and hostility is often the addiction talking).

Honestly, I'm still in shock that MJ is slowly being legalized for recreational use around the country. I really can't believe it. I'm not talking about the uses for hemp or even medical purposes because I think it has its beneficial components, but to any and all to get high, psychologically addicted, and dumbed down as it becomes the next generations favorite pass time? No. Studies have already been done where it has been legalized for recreational use and the crime rates associated to MJ have gone up, auto accidents with MJ in the blood, and drop outs are on the rise.
I don't know what the lawmakers were/are thinking but no matter what anyone may think, studies also show that MJ is also a gateway drug which leads many to experiment with other things.

Maybe it's just me, but seeing as how I still cling to the fading notion that words mean things, these words are gibberish.

Oh well, maybe when they get to Ephesians 5:18 they might see that anything mindbending is not for Christians, but the infilling of the Spirit is. Plus the fact that the Spirit is freely given by the grace of God, whereas weed has to be purchased, treated, and rolled with tobacco.

2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

How can you bring every thought into captivity if you are stoned? I use to work with a pot head "christian" once and he was a heretic. Trying to learn about God by carnal means is an exercise in futility.

2Timothy 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Nothing about the glory of Christ, nothing about redemption, nothing about being delivered from the wrath to come. Maybe the article just didn't report that... May the Lord Jeaus have mercy on them.
