This Pro-Life Grandma is Behind Bars For Encouraging Women Not to Have Abortions

Canadians have largely forgotten the whole abortion issue; it barely qualifies as an issue anymore. There’s no criminal law prohibiting abortion in this country, and in most provinces, though access remains unequal, the procedure is covered by provincial health plans. Even Pope Francis has loosened the dispensation that can be given to Catholics who have had an abortion; any old priest can do it.

Those, like Gibbons, who still care about abortion, are profoundly unfashionable, regarded as cranks. Perhaps that’s why she’s also probably the country’s most ignored serious criminal.

But for a handful of people — unusually, the National Post was there to watch and Gibbons had several supporters on the sidelines — her arrest proceeded quietly and without fuss. ...

Many "protestants" and/or many "Evangelicals" refuse to see Abortion as a Gospel matter (just a moral one) ... for that matter many don't really see the Gospel, the Cross, the shed Blood of Christ as of immeasurable importance and worth giving ones life for. Let me say it this way, I am growing in the conviction that standing to proclaim the Gospel in the darkest and most dangerous of places validates the claim of the Gospel upon men to repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ that preaching it in nice safe comfortable church buildings might never do.
A Protestant according to Webster's Dictionary is one who is neither Catholic or Eastern Orthodox. So you are a Protestant. Official Catholic teaching is against abortion because of the Bible.

Roman Catholics believe they have to do things to merit the grace of God, and that the cause of standing up for the unborn is a very worthy cause, worth the sacrifice

I pray for this woman that she is born again because she will receive her crown in the judgement. If she isn't. Her efforts are of no use in this wicked world. It is a commendable effort but she would be more of good use if she went and spend her granpma years with her children and grandchildren.
And I pray for the woman that lost her baby son at 20 wks (miscarriege) who she named Walter (Fezte).I hope I spelled her last name right. She posted her precious sons photos in her blog.she did a very good thing when she did that. She save countless
Babies fr abortions. And there r women out there crying buckets of tears for the decision they made to abort their babies. The only redemption for them is Jesus Christ. When u receive Christ, he will be your saviour, when you reject him,he will be your JUDGE.

Definitely based off of my own experience going to pro life rallys. Much more Catholics there. Ones I've seen that have Catholica protesting abortion and the small crosses I've seen in front of Catholic Churches which are for a memorial to those millions of babies who have lost their lives to abortion. I don't see that at Protestant churches.
Well, I have never been at a rally and I don't have any crosses of any kind in my possession. But, if you have read my comments on abortion, I think it is safe to say I am strongly against it. People can simply protest in different ways.

If a catholic does anything that saves a little baby's life, I will thank God for the saving of the life and then pray the Lord would save the catholic. But in absolutely no circumstance would I thank God for the catholic in their unsaved state.

Anyway, thanks for the comeback and your kind comment.

Well I am glad sister that I brought a smile to your face. I wish I could say I have done something that positive every day, but sadly I can't.

He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
Is 53:7

As she sees it, her silence honours the unborn. “The Supreme Court says the one you want to say you’re defending doesn’t exist … Nobody is there until the baby is born.”

“You arrest me while allowing the murder of babies? You have blood on your hands

She’s the definition of passive protest, or at least one of them. She is a deeply conventional person — from a sprawling, non-religious family, she has grown children and grandkids she adores and an elderly mum — who has ended up with this weird, unconventional life.

“Necessarily so,” she told me once.

She knew exactly what would happen Wednesday. She was prepared; she spent time with her mom this summer; she phoned a few friends the night before.

Yet she looked so alone in the back of that squad car. How is it that she can be so harshly punished simply for exercising freedom of expression?

Oh yes, because in this country, when people disapprove of what you say, they will criminalize the speech. It’s not quite Voltaire, is it?

"I may not agree with your silence, but I will defend to..."

Which catholics are you referring to and which protestants are you referring to? Or is your comment a general comment with no basis or your own bias?

"Gibbons didn’t reply but once, when she told the sheriff: “You arrest me while allowing the murder of babies? You have blood on your hands.”

She didn’t resist. She doesn’t sign her fingerprints. She doesn’t speak to her jailers. She won’t sign bail. She never speaks in court, where for most of the past two decades, she has been unrepresented (she has had a lawyer for the past few years).

As she sees it, her silence honours the unborn. “The Supreme Court says the one you want to say you’re defending doesn’t exist … Nobody is there until the baby is born.”

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink: Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him! Is. 5:20-23

May the Lord raise up a million more like her in Toronto, or at least one or two.
