Jimmy Carter Says Jesus Would Approve Of Gay Marriage
HuffPost Live's Marc Lamont Hill asked Carter on Tuesday whether he believes Jesus would approve of gay marriage, and Carter said he does.
"I believe Jesus would. I don't have any verse in scripture. ... I believe Jesus would approve gay marriage, but that's just my own personal belief. I think Jesus would encourage any love affair if it was honest and sincere and was not damaging to anyone else, and I don't see that gay marriage damages anyone else," he said.
Jimmy Carter has been given a second chance to get Christianity right this time (I hope this time he read the Bible ) ]]Jimmy Carter announces he is cancer-free, "Carter reveals news in front of Sunday School class." no, analysis, I am Calvinistic. however, as I have pointed out, many Arminians are Christian. I have no doubt that many people who call themselves Calvinist aren't. being Arminian or Calvinistic is not what makes your Christian.
No, just because I'm not a radical rightist doesn't mean I'm pro-Democratic Party. It's unfortunate that more Republicans are not like Teddy Roosevelt. I would hope he's a Christian, there's more proof that he is one than many Republicans who claim to be Christian.
Jim; I note that you lean towards Democrat and away from Republican.
Also I note you lean towards Arminian and away from Calvinism.
Is there a connection between these two points in your philosophy, ideology?
We have seen before where you have supported universalism instead of Limited Atonement - That's socialist philosophy and therefore Democrat. So there does seem to be corresponding ideologies in your religio-politico convictions.
Now, I consider anyone who meets the very minimum requirement of the Five Solas, ]]http://www.monergism.com/thethreshold/articles/onsite/qna/fivesolas.html (What are the ‚Äúfive solas,‚ÄĚ and what do they mean?) to be Christian. Many Arminians meet those requirements, One would wonder if Mr. Carter meets the requirement of "Only Scripture," and if he believes in extra-Biblical sources, then he never was a Christian. This statement and his obvious antisemitism would certainly make me consider him a non-Christian -- He seems to be more Democrat than Christian since he's following party line on homosexuality.
At the moment there's more proof he was never a Christian than that he is. q.v., ]]Galatians 5:19-21. I would hope he's a Christian, there's more proof that he is one than many Republicans who claim to be Christian.
Carter used his own free will and chose God and knew all about sin and his need of a saviour so he chose Christ as well. And all this without any help by the Holy Spirit. Because with free will you don't get the Spirit until you make the right choice. And after good works like that God responds and saves you doesn't he?
Now I would call this Arminian but I'm not allowed to. So I won't call Jimmy an A......n. That would by harsh Calvinist speak and moderator arminius does not stand for that.
So the god of free will which Jimmy turned to and worshipped works doesn't it because as we can all see Jimmy is a committed Christian ain't he?
I suppose the big problem we see in Jimmy is that when you construct your own image of God then you don't read the Bible quite as accurately as the Calvinist does - Then you write your own book.

Was he a ever Christian? Frank, has a good point? Also John Y.
Hebrews 10 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; 24 and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, 25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more, as you see the day drawing near. 26 For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain terrifying expectation of judgment, and THE FURY OF A FIRE WHICH WILL CONSUME THE ADVERSARIES.
Matthew 7 21 "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. 22 "Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' 23 "And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.']]NASB

I agree, according to JohnY, Obama would also be a Christian, simply backslidden. I have heard him say he was a born again Christian and Christ was his Savior. JohnY's comments usually are so silly that I don't comment or at least don't get into a back and forth with him.
I sure like the way you responded; thank you very much. A bad tree cannot produce good fruit.
He doesn't serve Jesus, he serves himself and the world. That is what the world wants to hear, because it makes whatever they do ok, and it is not ok. Jesus would not approve of gay anything. Gods word says he never changes, it was sin then and it is sin now.
You know, I could understand if God wasn't clear on a particular subject or particular gray areas being debated as they often are, but God made His view on acts against nature so crystal clear that He left no room, whatsoever, for any error. Nobody will ever be able to say, "Well, I didn't know", or, "I thought you meant this or that", or, "I was confused", etc. God warns against sodomy throughout the old and new testaments yet even so-called christians seem to have actually convinced themselves that God has changed, didn't really mean it, was mistaken, or meant it for a different time. Really something to witness as sodomites are leading churches, promoting their lifestyles as they worship in churches and tell.the world that you can be a sodomite and a Christian at the same time because God loves us all and just wants us to be happy, or, hey, he made us this way...

Good comment Amanda and I agree completely. Thanks for your thoughts and comment.

surprise wrote: "I believe Jesus would approve gay marriage, but that's just my own personal belief. I think Jesus would encourage any love affair" Well lets see shall we. God wrote the Bible and Jesus is in total harmony with HIS Father. God therefore Jesus states: Lev 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. Lev 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. Romans 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another... Carter is completely wrong...and NOT Christian in his personal beliefs.
