'Cowboy pastor' spreads the gospel by riding a bull in church
A church leader in Ohio has earned himself the nickname 'Cowboy pastor' after his unusual evangelism technique – riding a bull in church as a way to share the Gospel.
Former professional bull-rider Pastor Lawrence Bishop II has built a ring inside Solid Rock Church in Monroe, Ohio, and hopes to attract people who otherwise wouldn't set foot inside a place of worship.
"You know, the Bible said to compel them to come in, and so that's what we're doing," he told ABC's Nightline. "It didn't say how to compel them. It just said compel them to come in, so ... this is a tool."...
Why so mean? I have read the scriptures. Is that you Alpha?
So we have apostles and prophets too then?
True Chris. But any believer can help out those who can't read etc.
read the Book wrote: If you ever get round to reading the Scriptures they tell you why. For example; HOW to build a church.... Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
Not everyone can read, not everyone can see, some are dyslexic, some can't own a bible, some with ADD can't concentrate on the words themselves: having to repeat sentences/paragraphs over and over, and many learn from those who are learned. Oh, and then there's what the Word of God also states as reasons.
Brother Saint Elmer wrote: Why do we need "pastors" anyway when we have the scriptures?

Faith comes by hearing the Word of God. Anything added to it to make it more palatable is vanity. If people are coming to see the rodeo,it's unlikely that they'll remain engaged for a length of time unless their flesh is constantly fed. Of course, that's pretty much the manner of operation at many mega churches. If the Word of God happens to fall on the ears that it will in which it will take root, providing that God's Word happens to be touched on there, those who are His,will move out and on to "greener pastures".
I've heard a lot of bull coming from pulpits, but never seen a bull in the pulpit! I think it's great that this guy is trying something creative. Just watch out for the 'pot-luck supper' afterwards, though I don't think I could resist a bar-b-q of the aforementioned bull.
SF, my thoughts as well. Church is for the feeding of the Body of Christ. Unbelievers may and can benefit from hearing the word, rightly divided, at this time but that is not the point of church service on the Lord's Day. When persecution comes, and the "circus cannot come to town", I wonder how many of these same people will come to sit to pray, repent and seek God's face. Will they even know how? Will they even recognize what's going on because they have been fed from food that is not off the Lord's table but simply satisfied their stomachs and not their souls? You have to question the system when 300 people get baptized at once - I know full well God can move upon any of them at any time and save their souls, and may it be so; but it seems from the article they came for the bull - and that might be precisely what they got, a lot of bull.
2Ch 13:9 Have ye not cast out the priests of the LORD, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and have made you priests after the manner of the nations of other lands? so that whosoever cometh to consecrate himself with a young bullock and seven rams, the same may be a priest of them that are no gods.
Psa 22:12 Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.
Psa 68:30A Rebuke the company of spearmen, the multitude of the bulls,...
Jer 50:11 Because ye were glad, because ye rejoiced, O ye destroyers of mine heritage, because ye are grown fat as the heifer at grass, and bellow as bulls;
Hos 12:11A Is there iniquity in Gilead? surely they are vanity: they sacrifice bullocks in Gilgal;...
Heb 10:4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
Well church is the body of Christ and fellowship is for believers and their edification. Now evangelism, that's for the lost. Notice Scripture says GO not HAVE THEM COME. It's to take place somewhers other then the fellowship of the saints. Question, how did he share the gospel when he was riding a bull? Have you ever seen a bull ride? The rider is being thrown around. It appears this man just made God look "cool" and by doing so blasphemed His name. It's bread and circus.
I hope so, but it is a thin line, I believe mate your right as long As the people come to hear the message and not the show, duly Noted though that god does use unlikely situations and people to further his ministry, but l duo believe that if one is to be saved, then the holy spirit will incline our heart's towards the word.
