Microsoft to stop producing Windows versions

Jerry Nixon, a Microsoft development executive, said in a conference speech this week that Windows 10 would be the "last version" of the dominant desktop software.

His comments were echoed by Microsoft which said it would update Windows in future in an "ongoing manner".

Instead of new stand-alone versions, Windows 10 would be improved in regular instalments, the firm said.

Ups, I seem to have missed your comment. Shame on me! it was an interesting distraction. I'll point out an article, and there are later ones which say much the same thing, but without increasing taxes, companies would serve the nation better if their employees got better paid, and their bosses got less. Quite a few interesting graphs to boot . THE TRUTH ABOUT THE ECONOMY: In the 1980s, Greed WAS Good... Then We Went Overboard . An interesting idea, and again without increasing taxes.

Its relevant because most people that use SermonAudio - - probably use windows. as you can see at the moment, or at least surmise, I'm using an Android tablet However, Microsoft has come up with a very obnoxious way of announcing windows 10! Quite a few of us don't want it. Anyway more information on the additional notification that most of us will not want put on our computers or wish to remove. I think this is a pretty reliable source, but use at your own risk.

What is the “Get Windows 10? Tray Item and How Do You Remove It !

Yes,

http://distrowatch.com/ can have good information besides.

There's an easy way to test out Linux and doing it this way can have other benefits as well, http://www.pcworld.com/article/219481/why_you_need_to_have_a_linux_livecd.html (Why You Need to Have a Linux LiveCD [or thumbdrive!)

I also used the wrong name Openbox for https://www.virtualbox.org/ (VirtualBox) can run on this Virtual Machine which will run on Windows 8.1 for example. It run many of the Linux distributions, and will run Windows NT4 and WindowsXP inside this free Virtual Machine.

I do still have Windows on my laptop to run certain programs that Linux doesn't have. But if you can find alternatives for those, why use Windows?

The benefits to business in using Linux are outstanding, q.v., Real World Benefits of Linux There are advantages for the individual user as wellhttp://ubuntu-artists.deviantart.com/journal/8-Advantages-of-using-Linux-over-Windows-291681914

If you have a Windows 7 or earlier Win OS you can dual-boot. The Openbox overseen by Oracle is a free program that runs on Windows and you can run various Linuxes in it as Virtual Machines.

Jim
If they are "gouging" their customers, and their customer continue to give them money, maybe the customers better look in the mirror. Plus, where are the myriad of others who would love to access the money of the gullible who give their hard earned money to gougers instead of spending it wisely, there would be many on that bandwagon.

You don't have to like the company but don't fault it for consumer choices. Apple has consistently had a better OS and it comprises only 13% of the computer market. (the highest it has enjoyed)

Simple solution, if you don't like the price or the product, don't buy it. There are alternatives.

Now if you want to talk about gougers, here is an example for you. The top 10% of wage earners paid just under 70% of all federal income taxes but only made 45% of all income. The federal government has been pulling in record tax revenue for several quarters now. The United States has the high corporate tax rate amongst industrialize nations. Yet, this Jim from Lincoln guy wants them to pay more, now there an example of gouging. The government taxes your income and capital all your life and then they add a death tax, that is gouging.

Bottom line, if you are being "gouged" by Microsoft you have nobody to blame but yourself.

Better if they stopped producing it altogether.

this is because they want ongoing ways for charging you for various features and updates to Windows. they have never changed they are always looking for ways to gouge the customer.
