California Parents Outraged to Learn Second Graders Are Watching Porn on School-Issued iPads

Parents in a California coastal town are enraged at their local school district after they discovered that second graders are using their school-issued iPads to watch pornography and other inappropriate material while at home.

At last Tuesday's meeting of the Encinitas Union School District Board of Trustees, five parents voiced their anger at the fact that their children's school-issued iPads don't have filters or firewalls to prevent children from accessing inappropriate websites while they're off of school grounds.

Although the school district has installed a filter for when the the children are using the iPads on school property, the filter doesn't work once the children have left their school. ...

No problem,Unprofitable...not trying to debate just simply point out that God's standards are universally applicable and if parents were mindful of them, they wouldn't be opening the door for their children to look at those things which, even they, perceive as inappropriate.

Thanks s.c. Please understand I am not asking you to accept anything less than God's standard on anything. I am glad you hold to the values you find in God's Word.

That being said, this story is not about you. It is not about me. It is not about a bunch of Christians taking a stand. It is about unsaved parents having issues with young children accessing porn. How you or I define porn is meaningless to this story. If the kid had come in with a video of a football player scoring a touchdown and you could see the cheerleaders jumping up and down in the background, there would be no California parents outraged. They don't and won't share your viewpoint. This article actually shows that people who more than likely would not have issues with sending their kids to school in shorts, or putting their girls on a cheerleading squad, or watching sports on television still draw a line. (Obviously one parent didn't) I am glad even secular society holds to some standards because I sure don't want the alternative. Indecency could be far worse than it is.

Pretty sure you don't have to spend time convincing the SA crowd of the importance of modesty and godly living.

You are right, maybe this will help to draw more to pulling their children out of state schools.

Unprofitable,I'm not concerned about the world's definition,only God's.
"Much more vile",as you say is a moot point.
What fits the description of "nudity" is in God's Word and not subject to compromise.

"Cry aloud and spare not" is what we should be doing. It is heartbreaking to see gross deception and the prevailing spirit of the world permeating every area of our lives. What will we say to our children who will grope in the dark; perhaps into eternal damnation?
When we read the Word of God, we are moved toward His loving heart and thoughts about the kindness He has shown the redeemed. Also, we come to love the sinner who is blinded by the god of this present evil age. Thus, we'll lose our lives for the sake of the Gospel and for the sake of His name. READ, SEEK, PRAY, and GO in His name.

have to assume that they don't issue ipads with anything more than wifi access. The filter then belongs on the parents network. Seeing that you can restrict access on wifi networks, parents should look in the mirror on this one. Looks like it came from one kid who downloaded it at home and brought it back to school. My guess is for that kid, it is not the first time he or she has seen such filth.

Sorry, sc, most parents would not use the definition of nudity you use as a standard, one has to assume what was brought was more vile than that of which you speak. Remember we are not talking about Christian parents (although there may have been some in the mix) being outraged.

The positive we can take away from this is that even in a state with as liberal standards as one finds in California, parents were still upset at inappropriate material and they spoke up.

Guess that they had not heard of the inadequacy of morality yet.

They're surprised? Most of the parents have probably primed them for it any way through their own entertainment choices at home.Nudity, from the perspective of the Bible,is much of what the majority watches regularly on their big screen tvs by way of sports programs and probably just about practically most of everything on television.
Parents would probably be very surprised at what all their children are exposed to at schools. If they knew, they might opt for homeschooling.

Typical nanny state mentality. They expect the School to be responsible for their children's behavior at home.

Ah, the good old days, eh, GSTexas? It's the parents fault on not policing what their children are watching, it's not the school's fault on this one. The parents are just jealous they don't have iPads.

I had no idea what porn was when I was in second grade.
That was eighteen years ago, and I had not even used the internet yet. All I remember doing in my computer class at that time was playing frogger.
