Vindication Comes to Teacher Who Was Fired for Giving Student a Bible
A New Jersey school district violated the law when it fired a teacher who handed a Bible to a student, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ruled on December 15, 2014. The ruling was made public Tuesday.
The EEOC determined there was reasonable cause to believe the Phillipsburg School District discriminated against Walt Tutka, a substitute teacher. The EEOC also said religion and retaliation played a factor in Tutka's firing.
"This is a great indication the EEOC is taking religious liberty seriously and they are going to enforce the law—and in this case make sure Walt's rights are protected," Liberty Institute attorney Hiram Sasser told me....
I do believe that an important book that addresses issues related to how to be faithful in an ever hostile world is by Pastor John Dickerson ," The Great Evangelical Recession". Keep in mind, Jesus said we would be hated but to rejoice when this happens. Good for the teacher and the Gideon's are an important ministery to God word.
If Mr. Tutka was teaching from the Anne of Green Gables series Or the Emily trilogy (both by Lucy Maud Montgomery) there would be a quote from scripture about every 10 pages or so, as the kids spoke out the Word of God due to the pervasive Christian culture: This is just one example:all of literature is replete with references to the Bible in Title of plays, book Title, key plot references (Cain&Able, etc)
Tutka was working as a substitute teacher 10,12,2013, when he ran afoul of school bullies. He told a straggling student at the end of a line, "The first shall be last and the last shall be first."
The student asked on a number of occasions where the line was from, and Tutka told him it was from the Bible. When he discovered the child did not have a Bible, Tutka gave him his personal copy.
Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. 4:7 As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.
Finally someone is sticking up for the Christians a. It is very sad that se would get fired just for handing the bible to the student she didnt put a huge poster in the wall she didnt yell out Christianity is the only true religion she didnt even trie to force her religion on anyone and she still got fired if she had been an atheist saying there was no God she would have gotten a raise this shows the prejudice in the world Against Christians
