Pope to theologians: Listen to ordinary faithful

Pope Francis urged the Catholic Church's top theologians on Friday to listen to what ordinary Catholics have to say and pay attention to the "signs of the times," rather than just making pronouncements in an academic vacuum.

Francis, whose near-disdain for theologians is well-known, told the International Theological Commission that they must "humbly listen" to what God tells the church by understanding Scripture but also by taking into account how ordinary Catholics live out their faith. ...

Don't forget that "Solo Christo" proves your Amyraldian heresy wrong.
Solo Christo! By Christ's Work Alone are We Saved.
"As John Calvin said in the Institutes of the Christian Religion, "Christ stepped in, took the punishment upon himself and bore the judgment due to sinners. With his own blood he expiated the sins which made them enemies of God and thereby satisfied him...we look to Christ alone for divine favour and fatherly love!" Likewise the Heidelberg Catechism, Question 30 asks, "Do such then believe in Jesus the only Saviour who seek their salvation and happiness in saints, in themselves, or anywhere else? They do not; for though they boast of him in words yet in deeds they deny Jesus the only deliverer and Saviour: for one of these two things must be true that either Jesus is not a complete Saviour or that they who by a true faith receive this Saviour must find all things in him necessary to their salvation.""

From the article:

“Francis, whose near-disdain for theologians is well-known, told the International Theological Commission that they must "humbly listen" to what God tells the church by understanding Scripture but also by taking into account how ordinary Catholics live out their faith.”

Now I have never really fully understood the extent of what “the traditions of men” really means to the RCC, but this sounds really bizarre. Can anyone imaging a genuine Christian group saying that its theology should be even partially determined by its congregation? How about if we just say that our theology is derived solely from scripture and the Holy Spirit.

Ah well, he'll be retired off soon, or suddenly stand down, unless he can explain to the Vatican Secret Circle how his subterfuge is designed to restore the fortunes of his church.
