Supreme Court allows same-sex marriages in Kansas

The Supreme Court has ruled same-sex marriages can begin in Kansas while a lower court considers a case against existing state law. Last week, federal district Judge Daniel Crabtree issued a preliminary injunction against the Kansas constitutional amendment that defines marriage as between one man and one woman. A full suit on the case is pending, but Crabtree’s ruling means same-sex couples can receive marriage licenses in the meantime.

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt appealed the ruling and requested an emergency stay from the Supreme Court. Justice Sonia Sotomayor put Crabtree’s ruling on hold while the high court reviewed the case. It issued only a brief order announcing its decision, with Justices Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas dissenting. ...

I totally agree Mike, it seems that christians in america give a buy to anyone conservative.
However my point was the supreme courts only job is to say if something is constitutional. They are not allowed to make judgements based on any other code or creed. Do you know of anything in the constitution that says gays cannot marry? I can't really find any.
There doesn't have to be, Barry. Remember the SC is one branch of government, not separate from it. There is nothing in the constitution giving the federal government any say over marriage, including redefining it so as to make marriage whatever anyone wants it to be. As you said, the SC's job is to say if something is constitutional. Marriage has always had one meaning, it is the court that has gone beyond, redefined it, and therefore NOW says gays can marry. So they HAVE made judgment based on another code. Where did their authority to do so come from? It didn't, they took it to themselves illegally. The issue is now the same as it has always been. Marriage, not "gay marriage."

Interesting stuff. It seems strange that most Christians agree that liberal legislators or judges can do things that take a country in a lawless and/or antiGod direction by force of law, yet Christians seem unwavering in the view that legislators or judges of the opposite persuasion can't possibly have an opposite effect.

I agree about Tennessee Wise's post! You are also correct about our constitution. There is no religious or moral litmus tests given. It is and was never designed to be anything more than a secular document. That is why I am a Pilgrim on this earth and am simply looking forward to my permanent home and that is not here. They even have a Jesuit priest as the House chaplain.

Listen to yourselves you are putting faith in Man? So you think conservatives are the answer? That's why we have not been delivered from this mess. You need to start putting your faith in GOD not the constitution or some political group that will turn on you for their own gain like a snake if it means power. Who's system is this? Satan's, all worldly systems are. Remember Satan offered Jesus all the systems. Ours is just one of many that Satan has devised. So lets reason together and turn our faces to GOD for relief not man. Remember Abraham looked for that city who's maker was GOD.
Awesome post Tennessee, wish more followers would listen. Michael Hranek is starting to say the same thing. I think the problem is a lot of people are not following the right god, my God is much bigger than any of this. We should all fall on our face before God.

By the way, John Y. This is a predominately conservative supreme court. They follow or interpret the constitution. They can't use the bible. There is nothing in the constitution about gay marriage.

Good comments. John, unfortunately, I believe we are past, way past, in fact, the point of no return and don't believe that Roe vs Wade, sodomite marraige, etc, will ever be overturned. In fact, I believe things will get much, much worse nkw that some very dark doors have been opened no matter who is in office. I think there would be major anarchy if anything we are witnessing today should see any serious resistance.
Martin, I always thought Pontias Pilates position of perceived innocence was a bit delusional as well. He was the man in charge, so Jewish law or not, he had the last word.

The Supreme Court really is contemptible. This is why a Republican president is needed so that conservative Supreme Court justices can be appointed in order that Roe vs Wade be overturned and that marriage be defined as between one man and one woman.

This is an utterly contemptible action by a spineless Supreme Court that is trying to take the coward's way out on a defining issue of our culture, first by refusing to hear challenges to rulings by federal judges that overturn state marriage amendments; then by lifting a stay on so-called "same-sex marriage" in Kansas. The Court does not want to actually rule on marriage, but at the same time, they want to manipulate the situation in a passive aggressive manner to insure a certain outcome. Sort of like Pontius Pilate arranging for Jesus' murder by washing his hands of the whole affair. They want to avoid taking responsibility for any ruling on a hot button issue, while at the same time, insuring that leftist federal courts, rather than the people, have the final word on how marriage will be defined in the states. 78% of the people of Kansas voted on a state marriage amendment; now one federal district judge, togethe with the Supreme Court, are doing what they can to insure that the will of the people does not prevail over the ideology of leftist elites. What a deplorable lack of character from the highest court of the land. They will be held responsible, even though they want to avoid responsibility for crucifying marriage in America.
