US bishops struggling under Francis' pontificate
U.S. Roman Catholic bishops are gathering at a moment of turbulence for them and the American church, as Pope Francis moves toward crafting new policies for carrying out his mission of mercy — a prospect that has conservative Catholics and some bishops in an uproar.

The assembly, which starts Monday in Baltimore, comes less than a month after Francis ended a dramatic Vatican meeting on how the church can more compassionately minister to Catholic families.

The gathering in Rome was only a prelude to a larger meeting next year which will more concretely advise Francis on church practice. Still, the open debate at the event, and the back and forth among bishops over welcoming gays and divorced Catholics who remarry, prompted stunning criticism from some U.S. bishops. ...

Jim,
My Bible has trouble with your pastor on dispensations which ML Jones does a good job of pointing out by using scripture.

Lurker I tend to agree with you, though some Southern Baptists like John Ankerberg don't, e.g., ]]The Church of Rome Steps Into Apostasy. UPS, ah, I think you have seen a very consistent disapproval by me of the Demo sexual social program, I have been politically miffed with President Obama on his stance on control of banks.

This pope gives new meaning to the old question: Is the Pope Catholic?
Biblically, there is no such thing as a pope, so he has to start there. Then he needs to know, "Ye must be born again". Then he needs to know that justification is by faith alone in Christ alone and to God be the glory alone. And if he comes to know these things, he can be excommunicated from the RCC, unless of course he departs that corrupt organisation before they get the chance to chuck him out.

Hi Frank, as you know, my wife, akong with the majority of my immediate and extended family are Roman Catholic, none of whom know what the church really teaches, but even if they did, wouldn't know anything was wrong because they are not familiar with the bible either. Anyway, my wife observes all the church holidays, and every time one of the holidays comes up, I make it a point to ask her what the holiday; observance is about, why she has ashes on her forehead, a palm branch in her hand, etc, etc. Iask her every single time, and to this day, can never answer a single question posed. My point is that like so many, she goes with the flow because allegiance to the church saves.

Ahhhhhhhhhh, I didn't realize that could be taken more than one way at the time. I knew what I was thinking, and it was suppose to be a little sarcastic. SC and US have it right. Sorry about that, Jim.

Normally I would say that was Chris responding to one your political posts. But actually as sc so aptly pointed out (very astute sister that she is), he is describing John Yurich's description of you for your stance against Catholicism, not saying he thinks you are insane. (although your unwavering support for Obama and his policies does keep us wondering at times)

If we say that Roman Catholicism is apostasy we must be clear as to the sense in which that is true. Let me put it like this therefore. Here it is not so much a matter of “denial” of the truth, but rather such an addition to the truth that eventually it becomes a departure from it."

Jim, I'd have to disagree with Lloyd-Jones's quote as apostasy implies the apostate once held the truth. I can't think of a time in the history of the RCC when it ever knew the truth. Dead from its inception.

Don't forget the giving up of something (I remember giving up bubble gum as a kid) for Lent, and all the purple covered statues during that time. Never figured out why they were covered. And eating something after midnight on Saturday then taking communion on Sunday was a sin, too.

Jim, I had to read that twice myself. I think that Chris meant that from John Yurich's point of view. I, for one, am very thankful for your gracious and informative posts which align with the Word. Any one could look up your comments and judge for themselves.

Since priests aren't Biblical neither are bishops or popes. If the bishops are concerned about the animosity of Christians in America, as the article states, then they could re-evaluate the whole rc system. Hot-button social issues are the least of their concerns; being instrumental in leading people to Hell should be their main worry.

Hi Tater, long story but basically: John Y is a Roman Catholic. He says he is born again but calls himself Roman Catholic, and not wanting to leave the church because he's shy, says he just ignores all of the unscriptural doctrines and rituals and doesn't tell anyone he is born again because as he says, "it's none of their business". Jim is insane and needs psycological help because he argues against this position and provides links to information he feels would help John understand the dilemna of a born again Christian remaining within a church whose doctrines, dogmas, and rituals work against, and are in direct defiance to the Word God. (Basically)

So I'm confused. Jim Lincoln and John Yuric are often accused of being Catholic or crazy and in need of help. What is the story on these two?
