Southern Baptists, LGBT activists happily coexist
When Southern Baptists convened a national conference here this week to discuss issues of human sexuality, bringing conservative evangelicals and LGBT Christian activists into the same ballroom was a recipe ripe for potential fireworks.

Perhaps the most shocking thing was how few fireworks there were.

The Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission was clear: Sex is reserved between a man and a woman within the bonds in marriage. And openly gay evangelicals in attendance were equally clear: Homosexuality is not incompatible with Christianity.

No concessions were made, but leaders on both sides expressed surprise at how the two agreed to coexist. Put another way: The old emphasis on “Love the sinner, hate the sin” has become more a version of simply “Love all sinners. Ask questions later.” ...

Hi James, for me, the other option has nothing to do with disrespecting anyone, but rather, not comprimising in any way which sends a wrong message and is exactly how Satan keeps getting his foot in the doors that have been swung wide open. Agreeing to disagree just isn't acceptable. Agreeing to just live and let live isn't acceptable. Any small gateway to comprimise isn't acceptable because year by year, and generation by generation, what was once unacceptable becomes the norm as more and more comprimise is promoted and accepted until God's Word is reduced to antiquated rules and regulations. Yes, we are all sinners, but this is all unacceptable because these people are hell bound as church leadership takes a back seat and goes silent to the sin which will devour them.
Chris,
I agree with what you said...My question to the Christian leadership would be When did sin ever become negotiable? It hasn't.

I can understand having a conversation to preach the gospel to them or anyone...

but what they perceive as condemnation is really the truth they suppress and results in anger, malice etc.

There is no intellectual ground to gain as the battle is not there.

For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.
(Galatians 1:10 ESV)

Let the evildoer still do evil, and the filthy still be filthy, and the righteous still do right, and the holy still be holy.”

my question is where are the conferences for how we can happily coexist with fornicators, thieves, liars, and drunkards?

I mean, since when do supposed Christian come out celebrating what the bible clearly condemns, and are so proud they demand others to accept their behavior?

Its not like the rest of us don't have a sin nature, I knew that I had to walk away from the "old man", this is pretty basic to the faith!

I cannot understand why these two groups disrespecting each other would be a better option for many of you. I have yet to find someone with perfect doctrine or who does not struggle with sin. Perhaps some more love amongst Christians would be a blessed change.

“We have to love our gay neighbor more than our position on sexual morality."

Satan sure is a patient one, I'll give him that. Little by little, baby step by baby step, he has taken command of not only this nation, and world, but church leadership. A little comprimise here, a little reading in between the lines there, and a little, tiny bit of doubt enhanced and strengthened with double speak, confusing speech, and gray answers that sound good sure has gone a long way; finally coming to fruition as we see the moral fabric come unwoven all around us. Now, I know Satan has always been in charge, but until recent times, there were still lines that mankind as a whole wouldn't cross and considered evil, or at leaat wrong and immoral. These subtle comprimises do nothing but strengthen and hasten Sarans end game, in this case, the full acceptance of sodomy and sodomite marraige.

I'm a baptist, but most often we would agree to put a pork chop around our neck and swim with sharks , in order to come agreement with a personnel committee. To dialog with people who do not have your best interest is not advisable. With the sbc transitioning from being missional to culturally relevant , we will be wise to become indendent. Compromise and celebrity presidents of seminaries will end the sbc. Be ye separate, baptists.

I looked it up, and it indeed encourages ecumenicalism. I also read some good articles by RC Sproul and John MacArthur about why they didnt sign it that I thought hit the nail on the head. Like others, I dont pay much attention to "J.Mac" for probably the same theological issues. Dont know much about RC Sproul.

That form of "Christianity" is not compatible with the Bible.
Romans 1:-

Now folks the problem for today is why did the Baptists at this meeting seem to accept and agree with the sodomites???
Is this another example of the Baptist doctrine of throwing out the Old Testament to accommodate their Traditions???

I see what you mean below. This fellow wants to argue Christian denominations and not Christian doctrine. He actually deleted his message and then resent it with his new moniker.

Dorcas,

I understand completely what you mean in stating theological issues with J. Mac. I also agree with you, the way this forum has been going, it's best to remain quiet. Everyone has access to a Bible and to the internet, let them do their own 'research'.
Blessings to you as well
