No marriage licenses for anyone?

Idaho state Sen. Steve Vick says one U.S. city’s efforts to force a Christian wedding chapel to perform homosexual marriages in his state is a blatant violation of the Constitution, and he is seriously considering legislation to get the state government out of marriage entirely because he fears churches will be the next target in the aggressive homosexual agenda.

Earlier this year, a federal judge ruled Idaho’s constitutional amendment defining marriage as one man and one woman was unconstitutional. While that decision was placed on hold during the appeals process, officials in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, informed Hitching Post wedding chapel owners Donald and Evelyn Knapp that they would be required to perform same-sex ceremonies or face jail time and fines if the court’s decision stood. Last week, the Supreme Court allowed same-sex marriages to go forward in the state. ...

Good time Charlie, you wrote:"... there is a lot of Scripture in the Bible that you could have quoted that God could have used to save Taylor Swift and..."
It's never in anyone's power or in particular quotes which can aid in salvation. It is only by His Spirit which draws and by His Word (the power unto salvation)...no "magic formulas".. or, if only such and such Scripture had been spoken. Christians are just instruments.
And, one is not drawn to the Lord through music. Music,in fact,is highly overrated in the church. What you will find, however,in styles of music which are more appealing to the ear or flesh and in the churches which use them, is a "form of godliness which is just a facade". One either walks in the Spirit or the flesh...it's not possible to walk in both at the same time.

My grandparents went to the justice of the peace and got married, but they did not live together as husband and wife until their pastor arrived and they were able to be married in a Christian ceremony. They never celebrated their marriage on the "legal" date, but on the day that the pastor married them.
Rodney K. I like your story very much and I wouldn't be surprised if something very similar happens to me in principle. If so, I am going to make sure we wait for the church wedding before certain things happen as a result of a civil wedding.

I hope so. Maybe professed believers will get properly married then without some false god as head over its unholy creation.

folks, this is profound! a judge is considering backing the annulment of the state being involved in marriages, in order to save the freedom of the organized church and to preserve some testimony of the marriage covenant. wow.

Taylor Swift will undoubtedly be confessing the Lord Jesus after listening to you.

This might surprise you, but there is a lot of Scripture in the Bible that you could have quoted that God could have used to save Taylor Swift and some of her fans if they came across this thread. But I see you didn't use any.

"They said this town's will waste their time
I guess they're right, it's wasting mine

Some gotta win, some gotta lose
Good time Charlie's got the blues
Good time Charlie's got the blues"

The World is full of Good Time Charlies Mike what are you doing about it?

Another Good Time Charlie:

"You know my heart keeps tellin' me
You're not a kid at thirty-three
Play around you'll lose your wife
You play it too long you'll lose your life"

Not at all. If she confesses with her mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in her heart that God has raised him from the dead, she shall indeed be saved. Goes for her admirers, too. But your post to us "Christian types" was about non-Christian musical insights to life's perplexing problems. I didn't realize you non-Christian types were concerned about salvation.

Yes, I said, "A lot of my friends consider the lyrics of non Christian music for insights and answers to life's perplexing problems." But I can never get everything I know about a subject discussed in 20 words.

If you have that ability you are truly the most unique Christian to ever live on this planet. Superior even to Paul the Apostle.

sc, I have friends that as of now wouldn't listen to a Gospel song or hymn if their life depended on it.

I have friends that are leaving but I am the type of person that is always making new friends; so, in a sense my friends are both coming and going.

Maybe you Christian types could better familiarize your self with the type of music my friends like, it certainly isn't what you would call Christian.

A lot of my friends consider the lyrics of non Christian music for insights and answers to life's perplexing problems.

No, the state has a vested interest in marriages, even though the Catholic Church, unofficially, endorses queer sex of all sorts, ]]The Secular Case Against Gay Marriage is quite strong. Rent a Body sort of. John, that is the way I used to think. No marriage certificates and everything is just one big party.

But when I got older, I'm 33 now, I started to look at it another way. I found I wanted to settle down and get married. However I'm having a problem doing that as all my friends seem to be leaving town, heading for L.A. I believe.
