6 billion smartphones in use by 2020
By the end of the decade, there will be 9 billion mobile connections across the globe. And while 3 billion will be data terminals, dongles, routers and feature phones, the other two thirds will be smartphone handsets, according to the GSMA.

The organization that represents the interests of the world's mobile operators claims that the smartphone market is poised for huge growth over the next six years -- there are currently 2 billion handsets in active use -- and that demand is being driven by consumers in emerging countries. ...

I should add something to beat anyone to it...I try to talk her into a larger screen instead of forbidding, etc, Facebook because she would never have it. Her response to me should I try to lay down the law on this would be something similar to, "yeah, right", and maybe a snicker..

My wife and I deleted our Facebook applications. We still have accounts but the time we spend on Facebook has plummeted

Sounds like you just described my wife...constantly, and I mean constantly, on her phone talking and checking/posting to Facebook. Did I mention it was constantly? I've been trying to talk her into a larger screen because I always see her squinting and she also has headaches pretty much every day. The phone and concentration of microwaves can't be helping

If people continue to use these ridiculous smartphones, there will come a time when their eyesight is so poor, they will be unable to read them any more. That is, if the RF has not already sazzled their brains, or they are in a coma after walking into a lamp post.
