Prominent Chinese Pastor Sentenced to 12 Years in Prison
Zhang Shaojie, a prominent church leader from central China, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for gathering crowds to "disturb public order." A U.S. campaign group has said that the decision constitutes religious persecution and the Chinese government's attempt to hold back the growth of Christianity.

"This case shows the Chinese government continues to cover up religious persecution with fabricated criminal charges against an innocent church leader," said Bob Fu, the head of China Aid, according to The Telegraph.

Liu Weiguo, a rights lawyer who has worked with the pastor in the past, said that he was shocked at the severity of the sentence. ...

Many preachers from Taiwan teaching reform theology in underground Chinese church wish China would not open up itself to American Chrisitanity and the Western Christianity. God placed this moderate persecution to keep the Prosperity gospel and the Faith healing stuff out of China, let the true Christians persevere and thrive. Imagine if China opened up, and Benny Hinn arrived in China and destroyed all the foundations the good missionaries have built. Think.

American Christians are too biased. They read too much horrible things on China that are half true. They are idolizing a cross, and turned violent on the police. I watched the video, the police surrounded the church and the believers turned abit violent then the cops retaliated. He is being persecuted over a wooden cross. Compared to the persecution in India by the extremist Hinduist civilians some of whom rape and murder Christians, American just turn their heads away just beacuse they are democracy. Hypocrisy exists very well in American Christianity even in the reform community.

"disturbing public order"

they never say, hey we don't like Christ or we feel Christianity will undermine our power base, they come up with regulations and accusations.

this is what persecution looks like.

"This case shows the Chinese government continues to cover up religious persecution with fabricated criminal charges against an innocent church leader," said Bob Fu, the head of China Aid, according to The Telegraph.

There's no stopping Jehovah. Men can imprison men, but the spirit world is unaffected. Let them try to imprison the Holy Ghost on false charges and see what they get. Jehovah permitted men to take and execute his Son once, but even that was in the purpose and plan of God, in order to redeem a people for himself through the sacrifice for sin that Jesus made, bearing away guilt and every last sin, his oblation (laughingly brought about by unwitting men) being sufficient for time and eternity, and bringing great joy and eternal life through faith in such a propitiation, turning aside God's wrath on sin for all who would avail themselves of such mercy and grace, coming to the risen Christ and crying out, "God be merciful to me, a sinner."

China may imprison whosoever they will. But they little realise that even more so, whosoever will call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

But some men will insist on trying to work their way into heaven, when eternal life is the gift of God.
