The Los Angeles-area Baptist pastor whose church split after he announced he no longer believes all homosexual acts are sinful was President Obama's guest at the White House LGBT Pride Month reception Monday (June 30).
Danny Cortez, pastor of New Heart Community Church in La Mirada, Calif., attended the reception with his son Drew, who Cortez said in a Feb. 9 sermon is gay.
At the reception, Obama acknowledged open homosexuals serving in his administration and said 11 openly gay federal judges have been confirmed by the Senate, including 10 during his administration....

Rafael, it seems odd that when 1000 Baptist preachers go about their business, quietly doing the work preachers do, nothing is said, but when one such as this comes along, we wonder what is happening to the Baptist churches.

Yes, agreed. There used to be a time when Baptist churches were identified with being Biblicist as well. Sadly, that day seems to be receding further and further into the past.
I've prayed for this pastor; I can hardly think of a more difficult situation than this. In order to be truly loving toward his son, he has to warn him that sodomy is a sin, which, if not repented of, will cause forfeiture of an inheritance in the kingdom of God. The world says "love" means agreement, affirmation, inclusiveness, tolerance, and so on, but this is not Biblical love.

I agree, Christopher.... I believe that the tragic root cause of all the ungodly situations on this planet is the disobeying of God's Word.... the worst of all being the apathy of his church.... unbelievers will always sin, and it should not be a surprise when they do so..... but when ‚ÄĚ believing Christians‚ÄĚ turn from God's Word, the results are catastrophic..... God says it will be better for such people to have never known him at all
Kinda, sorta, Christine, but one word would describe these people perfectly, and that word is "progressive". The progressive church, aka, the comprimising church is a real wonder to me because I never thought I would be witnessing what we are in my lifetime. Now, I expected the world itself to wax worse and worse, the Godless, that is, but I didn't expect to see the church take the turn it has, especially in auch a short span of time. We all have, read from, and study the same Bible, and it's really incredible how it is being comprimised by so called Christians. Even worse are the leaders who are infecting the ignorant and the next generation with lies that many of them will teach their children. You know, when this generation grows up and has their own children, I can't even imagine what kind of spiritual shape the world will be in at that time considering how far we have fallen and the gross comprimise already going on. What else will be considered acceptable by then? What other parts of Gods Word will no longer be valid or applicable to the new, improved Christian by then?
If the church did split and agreed to disagree on the subject of homosexuality, then, it is a victory for Satan. Namely over time the feelings won't remain neutral. If the sin is not specifically spoken out against, all the people who want to engage in such activities will do so. You'll notice I didn't say it would be a victory for the homosexual agenda...because they are the ones who will in fact lose the most.
From the news: "The Los Angeles-area Baptist pastor whose church split after he announced he no longer believes all homosexual acts are sinful was President Obama's guest at the White House LGBT Pride Month reception Monday (June 30)
Danny Cortez, pastor of New Heart Community Church in La Mirada, Calif., attended the reception with his son Drew, who Cortez said in a Feb. 9 sermon is gay."
Good reasoning there. He discovered his son is "gay" therefore gay is ok. Deep.
"This tremendous progress we've made as a society is thanks to those of you who fought the good fight"
What's disturbing is that the church was split and decided to go a 3rd way by neither affirming or condemning sodomy; agreeing to disagree in the end. What a tragic state the church is in and its leaders are infecting the ignorant with their comprimising views. To whom much is given...
As for fighting the good fight...boy, what a different view the world has as it coins this phrase from Paul. I think he meant something much, much different.
Apart from this lifestyle being an obvious perversion; what does someone's " gayness" have to do with their ability to do something well? I have ceased to engage in the obvious, whether homosexuality is biblical or not, and have moved to the sonething supporters can grasp; conspicious functionality and essence of homosexuality. What makes a homosexual a "good" anything? What exactly is the difference between a gay and straight administrator, plumber, accountant, etc.? We need to start there and move them to the answer. We cannot merely state the obvious, we should zoom out so they can see the big picture.
